J. Nathan Matias
As founder of CivilServant and as an academic researcher, I support the public to do citizen behavioral science that discovers the outcomes of ideas for a fairer, safer, more understanding internet. I am currently a postdoc in the Princeton University Psychology Department (Paluck Lab), Center for Information Technology, and Sociology. I am also a visiting scholar at the MIT Media Lab. I completed my PhD at the MIT Media Lab Center for Civic Media and my time as a fellow and affiliate at the Berkman Center at Harvard in 2017.
In 2015, I organized a project on Meta to create a resource guide to research on online harassment and other content moderation questions. It's due an update, so contact me if you're interested (I can be found at firstname.lastname@example.org)
I am also an active contributor on AcaWiki, where I summarize academic publications for a public audience.
This is my personal account. Starting in 2019, I created the account User:CS natematias for edits that I make as part of research I am conducting with Wikipedians. You can read more about that research at CivilServant's Wikimedia studies.
