User:SFauconnier/Paid Wikimedia work
An overview of my paid editing activities, and other paid engagements related to Wikimedia projects. I do this besides my work as a volunteer (User:Spinster).
I am a Wikimedian at heart. I deeply love and appreciate all Wikimedia projects and the Wikimedia community as a whole. The Wikimedia 2030 strategy inspires and guides me. The commons we create here together is of tremendous value to humanity; I firmly believe it will help us keep sharing and preserving knowledge even in times of crisis, when (other) institutions may be destroyed or become ineffective. I want to positively contribute to our commons, improve it, and protect it with great care. If you think any of my paid edits or activities are problematic, or if you just want to comment, chat, or help me improve, I am all ears. You can reach me on any of my talk pages, or via wikimail.
- 2014-17: I was a Wikipedian in Residence in 2014 and in Spring-Autumn 2017. In both residencies I edited with the user name Spinster.
- 2015: I worked as GLAM Project Manager for Wikimedia Netherlands. There, I co-organized the GLAM-Wiki conference in The Hague in 2015. I edited Wikimedia projects in a professional capacity with the user name SandraF (WMNL).
- 2017-2020: I work(ed) for the Wikimedia Foundation in various capacities, editing with the user name SandraF (WMF).
- July 2017 - January 2018: part time GLAM Strategist, part time Community Liaison for Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons; that latter part has been continued by Keegan Peterzell.
- February 2018 - February 2020: Program Officer, GLAM and Structured Data, in the Community Programs team at the Wikimedia Foundation, working primarily for Structured Data on Wikimedia Commons, and after mid 2019 also for the OpenGLAM and WMSE GLAM Hub projects.
- March - June 2020: GLAM-Wiki Specialist (part-time, contractor) in the Community Programs team at the Wikimedia Foundation, working primarily on team transitions and on the WMSE GLAM Hub project.
- 2022: Working with Wikimedia Sverige as Product Strategist for the Content Partnerships Hub, editing with the user name Sandra Fauconnier (WMSE).
- 2024-25: I add and improve data on Wikidata, and do other Wikidata-related work, paid and on a freelance basis, for the NADD Wikidata project (NADD is the Dutch Network Archives Design and Digital Culture). I mostly work on data of people and organizations in the field of new media arts and design in the Netherlands. I mainly edit with my SFauconnier account. As I am also personally very interested in this topic, some edits with my volunteer Spinster account may slip between the cracks.
- 2025: Together with daanvr I work as a Wikidata specialist for the project Wikidata:WikiProject Open Topstukken Maastricht University and Radboud University. We are describing 30 of the participating university libraries' collection highlights on Wikidata and are creating a re-usable ETL workflow from Omeka S to Wikidata. I mainly edit with my SFauconnier account, but as I am sometimes a bit distracted, some edits with my volunteer Spinster account may slip between the cracks.
- Other freelance paid editing and Wikimedia-related projects:
- March - June 2020: part-time ad interim GLAM Project Manager at Wikimedia Nederland, replacing Michelle van Lanschot during her maternity leave. I edited Wikimedia projects with this user account (SFauconnier).
- February 2021 - end January 2022: occasional part-time freelancer at Wikimedia Nederland. I organized a series of online GLAM-Wiki masterclasses for participants in Suriname, the Dutch Caribbean, and the Netherlands, organized the WikiConNL 2021, and worked on the Dutch Wikipedia survey which ran early 2022. I edited Wikimedia projects with this user account (SFauconnier).
- July 2021-October 2022: product management on a project to extend OpenRefine with Structured Data on Commons functionalities, funded by a Wikimedia Project Grant. I edit(ed) Wikimedia projects with this user account (SFauconnier).
- July 2023-June 2024: I held a train the trainer program for Wikimedia-OpenRefine trainers, updated documentation, created and helped create WikiLearn courses for OpenRefine, as part of a grant from the Wikimedia Foundation to OpenRefine. I did some editing for this project with this account (SFauconnier), but as the project included a lot of extra work, I also spent quite a bit of time in my volunteer capacity editing with my volunteer Spinster account.
I enjoy working with Wikimedians and as part of the Wikimedia movement :-) If you want to understand my 'working style' better, feel free to consult my User Guide.
