Our Impact in Numbers
As of December 2024, the association counts 282 members. The 2024 budget comprised around 620,000 €, raised from donations, "Cinque per mille" tax donations and contributions to institutional activities.
GLAM & Cultural Institutions
We work with galleries, libraries, archives, and museums to bring Italian culture to the world. Our initiatives include "Tutta la cultura su Wikipedia" and specific grant calls for institutions.
Wiki Loves Monuments
We organise the Italian edition of the world's largest photography contest to document and protect our national heritage. We also maintain a dedicated webapp for volunteers.
Volunteer Support & Grants
We empower our community through the Volunteer Project Desk, Microgrants, and scholarships for international events like Wikimania and State of the Map.
OpenStreetMap & Open Data
Since 2015, we are the official Italian chapter of the OpenStreetMap Foundation, promoting free geographical data and supporting the Italian OSM community.
Education & Advocacy
We participate in national events, seminars, and lectures to promote Wikimedia projects. We also advocate for free knowledge through petitions and support campaigns.
Community Events
We support the organisation of itWikiCon, the main gathering for the Italian-speaking Wikimedia communities, fostering networking and knowledge sharing.
Institutional Status
We have obtained the status of "associazione di promozione sociale" (social promotion association); this grants tax deductibility on donations and allows us to participate in the "cinque per mille" tax donation campaign.
