On 28 February 2015, during Wikipedia Train the Trainer Program (2015) at Bangalore, India, T. Vishnu Vardhan, Programme Director, Centre for Internet and Society — Access To Knowledge (CIS-A2K) discussed different aspects of GLAM works and initiatives in India. After the session Vardhan was approached by a couple of participants and was asked further questions on scope of possibilities of GLAM works in India and he tried to answer all those questions. He told that— doing GLAM works in India is a very difficult task, as not many people can understand the importance of such work. However in a country like India, with her 4000 years' history, we must seriously concentrate on GLAM works.

Indians have always been criticized by historians and scholars for not preserving their history and culture properly. Indians are said to have a very little or no interest at all in record-keeping. In 1914 an upset Amar Singh sighed— as a rule Indians don't take any interest in their past history."[1]

Historic objects, records give us roots, enhance our pride, tells us about our past and inspires a nation to prosper and work better. It is unfortunate that we Indians just can not understand this fact. For this reason, although we are living in a digital age, not much works are being done by government and non-government organizations.
