This page documents the development, testing, and integration of custom Zotero site translators for Nigerian news outlets. The project aims to improve automatic citation quality across Wikimedia platforms, especially VisualEditor, by ensuring that Nigerian news sites generate complete, structured metadata (authors, dates, headlines, outlets, ISSN, etc.) when cited.

The project runs from 1 November to 31 December 2025, and milestones range from early prototyping to full translation-server integration. All progress here is updated weekly to reflect work done, code pushed, test status, and integration notes.

Pretty easy, dailytrust.ng current have a "BlogPosting" JSON-LD schema type, which is weird for a newspaper, but aminiya (the Hausa version, looks good with "Article". There's usually a trailing "- Daily Trust" in headlines, which we do not need in our cite news template since we already have the newspaper parameter, so it was worked on. Sometimes, author names are not located in the byline area; they're instead in the text content of the news piece, worked on too.
