Purpose of the report[edit]

This form is for organizations receiving Annual Plan Grants to report on their results to date. For progress reports, the time period for this report will the first 6 months of each grant (e.g. 1 January - 30 June of the current year). For impact reports, the time period for this report will be the full 12 months of this grant, including the period already reported on in the progress report (e.g. 1 January - 31 December of the current year). This form includes four sections, addressing global metrics, program stories, financial information, and compliance. Please contact APG/FDC staff if you have questions about this form, or concerns submitting it by the deadline. After submitting the form, organizations will also meet with APG staff to discuss their progress.

Global metrics overview - all programs[edit]

We understand not all Global Metrics will be relevant for all programs, so feel free to put "0" where necessary. For each program include the following table and

Telling your program stories - all programs[edit]

Please tell the story of each of your programs included in your proposal. This is your chance to tell your story by using any additional metrics (beyond global metrics) that are relevant to your context, beyond the global metrics above. You should be reporting against the targets you set at the beginning of the year throughout the year. We have provided a template here below for you to report against your targets, but you are welcome to include this information in another way. Also, if you decided not to do a program that was included in your proposal or added a program not in the proposal, please explain this change. More resources for storytelling are at the end of this form. Here are some ways to tell your story.

  • We encourage you to share your successes and failures and what you are learning. Please also share why are these successes, failures, or learnings are important in your context. Reference learning patterns or other documentation.
  • Make clear connections between your offline activities and online results, as applicable. For example, explain how your education program activities is leading to quality content on Wikipedia.
  • We encourage you to tell your story in different ways by using videos, sound files, images (photos and infographics, e.g.), compelling quotes, and by linking directly to work you produce. You may highlight outcomes, learning, or metrics this way.

Overview of this quarter[edit]

The purpose of this section is to provide a brief overview of this report. Please use no more than 1-2 paragraphs to address the questions outlined below. You will have an opportunity to address these questions in detail elsewhere in this report.

CHANGES: Please describe how you changed your plans and budget based on the FDC allocation approved by the Board in December 2012, and your rationale for these changes. You can then use the changed plans and budget as the basis on which to report back on the first quarter.

Based on the feedback provided by the Community and FDC we have implemented the following major changes during this quarter
  • CIS-A2K team has revised the team salaries taking into consideration the following factors a) feedback from the Community and FDC; b) performance of the team member during the last one year (i.e. until March 2014); and c) scope of work for the coming year based on the draft work plans. We would like to inform that the total revised staff salary budget after the salary revision is less than 35% than what was proposed to the FDC. The average monthly salary of the A2K team under the FDC grant will be about Rs. 73,000/- per month. Further CIS also has raised some portion of the salary. Please see below for the revised salary structure for the CIS-A2K team which is effective from July 1, 2014. We have also reduced some of the costs against Team travel across the plans. This and the other changes to the budget were shared with the community openly on Meta and via India wide mailing lists.

  • We were advised that we were ambitious in scaling up of the language specific strategies and also many of our proposed plans were seen as too ambitious. We took this feedback into consideration and based on an internal discussion decided to limit the language specific plans to 5 (4 existing and 1 new), and suspended 2 language area plans. We also cut down some of the proposed stand-alone projects. The revised plans are available here.
  • We have brought in a sharper focus towards catalysing policy level changes, in each of the language areas, while revising the work plans during this quarter.
  • We have revised the entire budget for the coming year. See the revised budget here.


HIGHLIGHTS: What were 1–2 important highlights of the past quarter? (These may include successes, challenges, lessons learned.)

  • Indic Content Donation under Creative Commons (CC) license: We have been successful in getting a huge number of works donated under CC-BY-SA 3.0/4.0 across three of the focus language areas. These are Kannada, Odia and Telugu. CIS-A2K was instrumental in influencing the Government of Karnataka to re-license 105 books in Kannada under CC-BY-SA 3.0 (the largest number donated by a government agency in India so far). 20 books in Telugu and 10 books in Odia were also re-licensed under CC-by-SA 4.0 license during this quarter. Some of these books are encyclopedic in nature and will benefit the respective language Wikipedias, in addition to enriching the respective language Wikisource projects. Further, these have helped the spread about the knowledge of Creative Commons and Wikisource in Indian languages.
  • Major boost to Indic Wikisource Projects: CIS-A2K through its various institutional partnerships and with the help of community has managed to digitize about 1500 folios of text across six languages. These are Hindi, Kannada, Odia, Sanskrit, Tamil and Telugu. Significant effort towards digitization came from the students of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Bhubaneshwar & Christ University, Bangalore. This work will continue into the next quarter.
  • Wikipedia Education Program at Andhra Loyola College (ALC): CIS-A2K signed up an MoU with ALC, Vijayawada to educate students about free and open source software and train them to contribute to Wikimedia projects in Telugu language. 30 faculty and about 100 students from ALC participated in the campus sessions and contributed to articles related to Botany, Physics, Chemistry, Telugu language, Statistics, Ethics, Religion, Music and Dance. This work will continue into the next quarter.

WIKI-FOCUS: What Wikimedia projects was your entity focused on (e.g., Wiki Commons, French Wiktionary) this quarter? During this quarter CIS-A2K significantly focused on the following Wikimedia projects and worked with associated communities.

Financial summary[edit]

The FDC requires information about how your entity received and spent money over the past year. The FDC distributes general funds, so your entity is not required to use funds exactly as outlined in the proposal. While line-item expenses will not be examined, the FDC and movement wants to understand why the entity spent money in the way it did. If variance in budgeted vs. actual is greater than 20%, please provide explanation in more detail. This helps the FDC understand the rationale behind any significant changes. Note that any changes from the Grant proposal, among other things, must be consistent with the WMF mission, must be for charitable purposes as defined in the grant agreement, must be reported to WMF, and must otherwise comply with the grant agreement. Program 1[edit]

Kannada Wikipedia and Kannada Wikisource
What are the objectives of this program? Please include metrics.
  • CIS-A2K had developed a very detailed plan for this program in consultation with the Kannada community. This plan available here will give comprehensive idea of the objectives and the implementation strategy. We have also put out detailed metrics for this specific program that are available here.

Students taking part in Kannada Wikipedia Workshop at Bagalkot
  • Partnership with University of Mysore - The partnership with University of Mysore as the result of the MoU signed in Feb 2014, continued and yielded fruitful results during this quarter also. As per the MoU, CIS-A2K facilitated the extraction of legacy text from first six volumes of Kannada Vishwakosha (encyclopedia)published by University of Mysore. This text was converted into Kannada Unicode, supported individual articles and uploaded into Kannada Wikisource.
  • Kannada Wikisource grew substantially because of the digitization activity. By end of September 2014, Kannada Wikisource had about 500 folios. For comparison, the number of articles in Sep 2013 was only 374. Kannada Wikipedia editor community is actively populating Kannada Wikipedia by taking the information from these articles and either creating new articles or enriching existing articles.
  • UG students of Christ University first semester took up digitization of Kannada text in Kannada Wikisource as part of their assignments for internal assessments. They took up the task of digitizing the pages of Mysore University Kannada Encyclopaedia into Kannada Unicode text. Overall they added about 1.7MB of text data.
  • Department of Kannada & Culture, Government of Karnataka, re-released 105 Kannada books which included many classics under CC-BY-SA 3.0 on Aug 18, 2014. CIS-A2K put lot of efforts in convincing the department to achieve this milestone. These books include classics like complete Dasa Sahitya which include complete works of Purandaradasa, Kanakadasa, complete Vachana Sahitya, Kumaravyasa Bharata, Jaimini Bharata, etc.
  • Following are a few metrics to indicate the progress as against the language plan that CIS-A2K had implemented. CIS-A2K respectfully acknowledges that the following graphs are a result of the coordinated efforts between the Kannada Wikipedia community and CIS-A2K. Kannada Wikipedia community has played a very important role in the development of the Kannada Wikipedia and other projects.
Activities conducted.
  • An open knowledge day was celebrated at Mysore on July 15, 2014. Prof K Rangappa, Vice Chancellor, University of Mysore chaired this function.
  • Seven outreach programs conducted during this period. The programs were conducted at Mysore, Gulbarga, Bagalkot, Bangalore, and Tumkur. This list includes workshops, presentations and informal gatherings where Wikimedia movement was discussed.
What worked and what did not?
  • Content donation efforts are extremely challenging and require a sustained approach. CIS-A2K has been extremely fortunate in aligning with such institutions.
  • Content donation is often muddled as the awareness level regarding Copyright law and Creative Commons License
  • Non availability of efficient OCR tools have hampered the progress of content uploading activities.

Odia Wikipedia

  • CIS-A2K had developed a very detailed plan for this program in consultation with the Odia community. This plan available here will give comprehensive idea of the objectives and the implementation strategy. We have also put out detailed metrics for this specific program that are available here.
Progress against these objectives (include metrics and # of volunteers/staff involved)?
  • One Wikipedia Education Program at Indian Institute of Mass Communications (IIMC), Dhenkanal was started with an orientation session towards end of this quarter to engage with students of journalism in Odia language and bring Wikipedia editing as a pedagogic practice.
  • Number of page views starting from July has gone up to 641,237 from 535,491 from the previous month with a growth of 105746 new page views which amounts to an increase of 83%.
  • CIS-A2K was instrumental in getting licenses of 5 books of noted author and educator Ramakrushna Nanda which included an encyclopedia "Biswa Parichay". These were migrated to Open source under Creative Commons Share-Alike 4.0 (CC-BY-SA 4.0) license. CIS-A2K has also got Odia poet Bharat Majhi's 5 books relicensed under a CC-BY-SA 4.0 license. All of these books will eventually be digitized on Odia Wikisource with some of them contributing towards generating new content on Odia Wikipedia.
  • Four encoding converters were built in collaboration with Odia Wikimedians Manoj Sahukar and Shitikantha Dash. These resulted in converting massive amount of content from newspapers, other available online resources. The encoding converters will be of help for many books that the community might acquire in the future for soft content.
  • With animated tutorial and concise information about "dos and don'ts" the help page was simplified.
Activities conducted.
  • Odia Wikipedia workshop series started: First session of the Odia Wikipedia workshop series started at Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC). Dhenkanal.
  • One community meetup at Bhubaneswar and one in Cuttack were conducted. These helped to refine CIS-A2K's ongoing programs and plans for the future.
  • Migration of license for encyclopedia: An Odia language encyclopedia "Biswa Parichay" compiled by notable Odia educator and litterateur Ramakrushna Nanda was re-licensed under CC-BY-SA 4.0 license.
  • Four encoding converters to convert text to Unicode: In collaboration with Odia Wikimedians Manoj Sahukar and Shitikantha Dash we designed 4 encoding converters. These converters can convert font encoding from various proprietary fonts to Unicode so that content available online in newspaper/magazine/journal and acquired in digital typeset from copyright holders could be used on Wikimedia projects (citations on Wikipedia and as books on Wikisource).
  • "Chatasabha" (help page) improvement: Odia Wikipedia help page Chatasabha was revived with interactive graphics and animations detailing on various Wikipedia policies. An internal user survey was made to capture users' (non-Wikimedians) reaction to build this.
What worked and what did not?
  • Though the education program was started at IIMC it was difficult to follow it up in the next quarter because of the examinations and academic schedule.
  • Long term and on-the ground community engagement and prolonged activities in the partner institutions by having a staffer based in the city of Bhubaneswar towards end of this quarter worked to a good extent extent. Two meetups were organized in two cities Bhubaneswar and Cuttack and the Wikipedia Education Program began with an orientation session.
  • Acquiring about 20 books with some of them having encyclopedic content by negotiation with copyright holders/authors/publishers and relicensing them under a CC-by-SA license was fairly successful.
  • Building/enhancing font encoding converters was a need since long as a vast amount of encyclopedic content but typed in various legacy encoding. Such content being non-Unicode has been a bottleneck for the Wikimedia community in gathering Odia language resources and citations. The encoding converters have came out with very good accuracy and emerged as the most accurate encoding converters.
  • The Odia Wikipedia help page "Chatasabha" was made more comprehensive and user-friendly for new editors and potential editors.

Odia poet Bharat Majhi reciting poetry from his first book Agadhu Duari and sharing his views on digitization of books
  • During this quarter CIS-A2K collaborated with Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar to implement a campus based project for Odia Wikisource.
  • 9 faculty and about 43 students participated in this project to digitize books of Dr Jagannnath Mohanty a prominent author.
  • 5 books of noted author and educator Ramakrushna Nanda including an encyclopedia "Biswa Parichay" re-licensed under Creative Commons Share-Alike 4.0 (CC-by-SA 4.0).
  • CIS-A2K has been successful in releasing Odia poet Bharat Majhi's five books re-licensed under CC-by-SA 4.0.
  • All of these books are up for digitization on Odia Wikisource.
Activities conducted.
  • Preparation for bringing Odia Wikisource live from the Incubator: Incubated in May 2013, Odia Wikisource as a project was moderately active. Pankajbala Sarangi who attended a seminar where CIS-A2K team member Subhashish Panigrahi spoke about digitization of books on Odia Wikisource, started actively contributing on Odia Wikisource. Soon after that more Wikisourcers joined in to digitize the Odia language classic "Odia Bhagabata" and other such valuable books.
  • First institutional program for Odia Wikisource initiated: In a collaboration with KISS, books of Odia author Jagannath Mohanty were taken up for digitization. There was an active contribution from the faculty and the students for this program, and the participants were trained about enabling Odia language, Odia input and book digitization on Odia Wikisource in 3 sessions with support from Odia Wikimedian Subas Chandra Rout.
  • License migration of authors' work under CC-by-SA 4.0: 5 books of notable Odia educator and littérateur Ramakrushna Nanda and 5 books of poet Bharat Majhi were re-licensed under CC-by-SA 4.0.
What worked and what did not?
  • Building leadership and training nine faculty-trainers worked really well. There was great support from the hosting institution KISS for logistics and other institutional roll-out of the program.
  • CIS-A2K was instrumental in negotiating with authors/copyright holders to re-license books under Creative Commons license.
  • Building encoding converters with the support from the community was useful to convert content to Unicode on Odia Wikisource.
  • Engaging with new editors on social media and driving public interest to digitize a classic the "Bhagabata" was quite successful.
  • It took a considerable amount of time and effort to train the faculty involved as they had a hectic schedule and administrative commitments and these problems also delayed the speed of the planned work.

Telugu Wikipedia and Telugu Wikisource

  • CIS-A2K had developed a detailed plan for this program in consultation with the Telugu community. This plan available here will give comprehensive idea of the objectives and the implementation strategy. We have also put out detailed metrics for this specific program that are available here.

  • Following are a few metrics to indicate the progress as against the language plan that CIS-A2K had implemented. CIS-A2K respectfully acknowledges that the following graphs are a result of the coordinated efforts between the Telugu Wikipedia community and CIS-A2K. Telugu Wikipedia community played a very important role in the development of the Telugu Wikipedia and other projects.
  • Wikipedia Education Program was initiated at Andhra Loyola College, Vijayawada with two student training workshops and one faculty orientation were included. These workshops resulted in bringing on board 160 new Wikimedians.
  • Stub class article creation was tracked on a montly basis and users who created stubs were notified about the same, this encouraged users to improve their articles and instilled a quality control mechanism.
  • CIS-A2K was instrumental in bringing 10 books from Indu Gnana Vedika and 10 books of Mr. Syed Naseer Ahamed into CC-BY-SA license. These books are added to Telugu Wikisource has begun in this quarter and is expected to continue into the next quarter.

  • An MoU was signed with Andhra Loyola College, Vijaywada, Andhra Pradhesh.
  • Student and faculty training program involving 60 faculty members of various colleges of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, and 100 students of Andhra Loyola College was conducted.
  • Training to volunteers of Indu Gnaana Vedika for uploading books onto Telugu Wikisource.
What worked and what did not?
  • Content Acquisition from Indu Gnaana Vedika triggered a trend of content donation. A direct outcome of this are the books of Mr. Syed Naseer Ahamed, who donated 10 of his books, which are rich in content pertaining to role of Muslims in India's freedom struggle, which are texts of cultural and historical value. These books can be found at Telugu Wikisource. 2123 pages have already been added to Telugu Wikisource. However retaining these books on commons posed a problem as OTRS team was not available in time and other volunteers kept deleting the books from commons, posing an interruption to work at Telugu Wikisource.
  • MoU with ALC resulted in a productive partnership and a Wikimedia community of Wikipedians and Wikisourcerers are now being groomed within campus.
  • Partnership with the University of Hyderabad did not result in a Wikipedia community directly, but provided centralized space for monthly meet-ups for the Telugu Wikimedia community at Hyderabad.
  • Monthly tracking 'stub articles created' triggered users to go back and improve the stub articles.

Tulu Wikipedia (Incubator)
What are the objectives of this program? Please include metrics.
  • CIS-A2K had developed a very detailed plan for this program in consultation with the Kannada and nascent Tulu community. This plan available here will give comprehensive idea of the objectives and the implementation strategy. We have also put out detailed metrics for this specific program that are available here.
Progress against these objectives (include metrics and # of volunteers/staff involved)?
  • CIS-A2K has organized many meetups and facilitated discussions towards the growth of Tulu Wikipedia. Attempts were made to build awareness about this project in various forums like literary meets, newspaper and radio interviews and in social media. Many Tulu speakers have shown interest in participating in the endeavor and have made useful contributions.
  • A preliminary meeting was held at Mangalore on Jan 19, 2014 with interested people to work out plans to help build Tulu Wikipedia. Tulu scholars and other interested persons participated in the meeting.
  • Following are a few metrics to indicate the progress as against the work plan that CIS-A2K has implemented. CIS-A2K respectfully acknowledges that the following statistics are a result of the coordinated efforts between the Kannada Wikipedia and emerging Tulu community and CIS-A2K. These Wikipedia communities have played a very important role in the development of the Tulu Wikipedia and other projects.

The fluctuations reflected in the statistics are quite similar to that of other Wikimedia projects. But the project is growing both in terms of content and community and the substantial growth will be visible in the near future.

Creating Movement Resources
What are the objectives of this program? Please include metrics.
  • As mentioned in the Work Plan 2014 - 2015, CIS-A2K planned for on creating resources planned create resources for new editors/contributors to teach enabling language , language input, editing in Wikipedia, contributing in other Wikimedia projects, and general guidelines about Creative Commons and free software in this quarter.

An animated tutorial briefly explaining Odia language enabling, input and keyboard combination
  • During this quarter based on Marathi Wikimedian Mahitgar's suggestion CIS-A2K worked on creating a video tutorial for new editors to enable and input in Marathi in the Universal Language Selector (ULS). The video has been extensively shared over one thousand user and help pages.
  • During the drive of bringing Odia Wikisource out of incubator, a new tutorial was created for the participating Wikisourcers of the campus project at the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences, Bhubaneswar, and other new Wikisourcers.
  • A Kannada Wikipedia tutorial was created based on the feedback from the outreach participants to be distributed during the workshops and other outreach programs.
  • Odia Wikipedia's help page "Chatasabha" was upgraded with a simple animated GIF tutorial about enabling and typing in Odia using ULS.
Activities conducted.
  • Marathi language enabling and input tutorial for Wikipedia and Wikimedia projects: Based on Marathi Wikimedian Mahitgar's proposal for creating a video tutorial like Telugu for new Marathi language contributors, a video tutorial was built. Mahitgar put great efforts to create subtitle and massively share this on talk pages of more than 1000 of new contributors and 1050 pages across 13 Wikimedia projects.
  • Odia Wikisource handbook: A handbook was designed and distributed among the faculty and students participated in the Odia Wikisource campus program at Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Bhubaneswar. (this tutorial was replaced by the new tutorial later after Odia Wikisource went live out of the Incubator. Check this manual for current Wikisource.
  • Enhancing "Chatasabha" on Odia Wikipedia: Odia Wikipedia's help page "Chatasabha" was enhanced with animated images and it was made simpler for new Wikipedians.
  • Kannada Wikipedia editing tutorial: A tutorial on editing Kannada Wikipedia was created and added to Wikimedia Commons. This file is linked to the help page of Kannada Wikipedia. This file has been distributed and used extensively during the Kannada Wikipedia training workshops.
What worked and what did not?
  • Collaborating with the Wikimedia community and getting community feedback on improving the created resources was useful for both Marathi and Odia.
  • Though it was internally planned to create video tutorial series for 2-3 more languages like the older projects in Hindi and Kannada, because of non-availability of the studio for the proposed activities this project could not proceed. However it has been scheduled to take up during the next quarter.

What are the objectives of this program? Please include metrics.
  • CIS-A2K as a part of its vision of developing Indian Language Wikipedias has always supported and worked in developing Wikmedia projects that were not otherwise in the original plans.

  • Most of the outcomes listed here should be considered as rewards for the time invested by CIS-A2K team in developing Indian Language Wikipedias .

  • Hindi:
    • About 201 pages of the book, 1857 Indian Independence movement ("१८५७ का भारतीय स्वातंत्र्य समर" in Hindi) were typed by the students from Department of Hindi, Christ University.
    • One of the students, Sharnya G Raj has added a list of all the short stories of famous Hindi author Premchand, and the finished list can be accessed here. This was done in consultation with the Hindi Wikimedia community.
  • Konkani: During this quarter CIS-A2K worked with the emerging Konkani Wikimedia community remotely and offered support and advice. This resulted in the Konkani Wikimedians conducting 3 outreach events on their own in Goa. It is important to note that this was the first such attempt entirely led by the community towards organizing outreach activities. The following are the key activities during this quarter.
    • 3 Konkani outreach events entirely led by the Konkani Wikimedians.
    • CIS-A2K built institutional partnership with Nirmala Institute of Education, Goa.
    • T. Vishnu Vardhan of CIS-A2K took part in the Global Konkani conclave in Mangalore.[1]
    • T. Vishnu Vardhan of CIS-A2K was invited to be part of the Steering Committee of the Konkani Language Planning efforts put in by Jogotik Konknni Songhotton (JKS) in association with Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy. The detailed work plan could be accessed here.
  • Sanskrit:
    • About 100 folios from the book Kathasarita Sagara ("कथासरित्सागरः - सोमदेवभट्टः" in Sanskrit) were typed by the students of Department of Sanskrit, Christ University, Bangalore under the monitoring of CIS-A2K and Sanskrit Wikipedians. This was part of the institutional partnership CIS-A2K has built with the Christ University.
    • 3 Sanskrit Wikipedians were trained to use Pywikipedia bot framework by CIS-A2K staff in response to a request received from the Sanskrit Wikimedia community.
  • Tamil: About 20 pages from "Mullaip Paattu" ("முல்லைப் பாட்டு" in Tamil) were typed by the students from Department of Tamil, Christ University.

Lessons from this quarter[edit]

A key objective of the funding is to enable the movement as a whole to understand how to achieve shared goals better and faster. An important way of doing this is to identify lessons learned from entities who receive funds, and to share these lessons across the movement. The purpose of this section is to elicit some of these insights, which will be shared throughout the movement. Please answer the following questions in 1–2 paragraphs each.

What were your major accomplishments in the past quarter, and how did you help to achieve movement goals?

  • CIS-A2K has been able to generate and sustain a cross border enthusiasm towards content donation. From liaising with government institutions towards re-releasing its publications under CC License to convincing Indian Language writers and poets towards content donation for Wikisource, CIS-A2K has sown seeds for a new digital content revolution.
  • An early and realistic projection of the targets helped CIS-A2K overcome many systemic loopholes and avoided the duplication of both human and monetary resources.
  • By showcasing the strong track record of CIS-A2K, we were able to build leverage which proved to be crucial in bringing individuals and institutions on board for the revival of Indian language Wikisource projects.
  • Collaboration with the Indian language communities has lead to many meaningful convergences for the movement goals such as increase in the number of articles, increase in the number of active editors.
  • Our outreach sessions have helped people to take an active part in furthering the volunteer base and help in monitoring the quality of articles.

What were your major setbacks in the past quarter (e.g., programs that were not successful)?

  • One of the major setbacks was of a programmatic nature, where CIS-A2K team spent considerable time revising and re revising its Annual Plan and this resulted in time deficit for implementation purpose.
  • Not much work could be done in the Marathi language area. We hope to recruit a language anchor by involving the community and take forward the activities during the next quarter.
  • During this quarter the momentum of the activities in Konkani did not continue like in the past quarters as the CISA2K team member anchoring the Konkani language area left.

What factors (organizational, environmental) enabled your success?

  • A comprehensive planning involving 'SWOT' analysis before the implementation of the Annual Plan
  • Building on CIS-A2K's strength of producing results and showcasing the efforts of the volunteers
  • Fruitful cooperation with the Wikipedia Volunteer community
  • Enabling environment created by Institutional partnerships

What unanticipated challenges did you encounter and how did this affect what you were able to accomplish?

  • Restructuring the team and working with a reduced staff was a big challenge, and CIS-A2K was able to pull through the tough situation because of the dedicated support from the institutional partnerships and team members.

What changes might you make in executing your initiatives into the next quarter?

  • CIS-A2K would like to further invest in developing institutional partnerships as they provide a fertile site for both volunteer and research work.
  • CIS-A2K plans to showcase the digitization efforts and map the changes in the content acquisition policies because of this intervention.
