Hello

I just noticed https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants:Project/Rapid/Abakar_B/Wiki_Loves_Africa_Chad_2019

I also noted it was mentionned "funded". Which it is not. You better fix that because it make it not appear in the "proposed" list, which means that no one studying the grants will see it :)

Hello!

Sometime ago, you added your name to this list to receive news from AffCom. However, you added Portuguese Wikipedia to be the receiver and the messages were not sent because you don't have an account there. I just changed it to French Wikipedia, so you will start to receive it there. I hope that's ok. Regards. —Teles «Talk ˱C L @ S˲» 20:17, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Invitation as guest speaker to WIkiAfrica Hour episode 14

[edit]

Dear Abakar B,

I hope this meets you well.

As you may already know, my name is Ceslause Ogbonnaya, from Wiki In Africa.

A year ago we launched the WikiAfrica Hour with our first ever episode featuring outgoing Wikimedia Foundation CEO, Katherine Maher. You can watch it here.

Since its launch, WikiAfrica Hour has been instrumental in informing, discussing and unpacking issues at the global level with the African Community and vice versa. Each session imparts vital information about issues that affect the community globally, always ensuring they are seen from the perspective, interest and benefit of the African community. We have also made sure that issues, events and projects that are core to the African community are given just as much weight.

Previous episodes have foregrounded the roles photography (episode 2) and events (episode 4) play in the Wikimedia movement. There have been interviews with previous and aspirant board members (episode 3), a discussion with Wikimedia community members as to the importance of this forum (for Wikimania edition), interviews with Wiki Loves Africa 2021 winners on the role photography plays in changing the visual narrative of Africa, and the team handling Universal Code of Conduct and WikiIndaba 2021 scholarship. You can catch all our previous episodes.

Invitation to be our guest on the next episode.

We wish to invite you as guest speaker to the WikiAfrica Hour episode 14, titled “WikiGovernance:On Board” slated for 24th June 2022, at 16:00 UTC

With the Call for candidates closed for Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees 2022 election, we would love to understand the aspirations and motivations of the candidates from Africa

By virtue of being a Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees 2022 election candidate from Africa, you are one of the people we wish to have on the episode, hence our reason for inviting you as a guest speaker.

The vodcast is run live using StreamYard.

WikiAfrica Hour is a live broadcast and will be simulcast on the Wiki in Africa YouTube and Facebook channels.

The episode will remain for viewing on Wiki In Africa YouTube channel after the session.

We look forward to hearing from you, and confirming your availability.

NB: Be informed that accepting to feature in WikiAfrica Hour episodes/sessions denotes consent to all the terms and conditions of CC BY-SA 4.0 license.

Ceslause Ogbonnaya

Hi! I'm contacting you as one of the participants in the Wikimedia Summit 2022, to kindly ask for your feedback through a 5-10 minute survey to evaluate 'Baserow' (note: the survey is on a Google form).

Organising Feminism and Folklore

[edit]

Hello Community Organizers,

Thank you for organising Feminism and Folklore writing competition on your wiki. We congratulate you in joining and celebrating our cultural heritage and promoting gender equality on Wikipedia.

To encourage boost for the contributions of the participants, we're offering prizes for Feminism and Folklore local prizes. Each Wikipedia will have three local winners:

  • First Prize: $15 USD
  • Second Prize: $10 USD
  • Best Jury Article: $5 USD

All this will be in gift voucher format only. Kindly inform your local community regarding these prizes and post them on the local project page

The Best Jury Article will be chosen by the jury based on how unique the article is aligned with the theme. The jury will review all submissions and decide the winner together, making sure it's fair. These articles will also be featured on our social media handles.

We're also providing internet and childcare support to the first 50 organizers and Jury members for who request for it. Remember, only 50 organizers will get this support, and it's given on a first-come, first-served basis. The registration form will close after 50 registrations, and the deadline is March 15, 2024. This support is optional and not compulsory, so if you're interested, fill out the form here.

Each organizer/jury who gets support will receive $30 USD in gift voucher format, even if they're involved in more than one wiki. No dual support will be provided if you have signed up in more than one language. This support is meant to appreciate your volunteer support for the contest.

We also invite all organizers and jury members to join us for office hours on Saturday, March 2, 2024. This session will help you understand the jury process for both contests and give you a chance to ask questions. More details are on meta page.

Let's celebrate our different cultures and work towards gender equality on Wikipedia!

Best regards,

Rockpeterson
