Wikimedia Community in Cameroon
How are you and the Wikimedia Community in Cameroon. I am aware that you are yet to have an established User Group in Cameroon. Well, I am a co-founder of Wikimedia User Group Nigeria. Thus, I can boldly tell you that the requirement for establishing a user group is not stringent and very flexible. The basic requirements includes three active Wikimedia editors and the users must agree to Wikimedia user group agreement and code of conduct. Let me know if you need any guidance. See the eligibility criteria here. Regards. Wikicology (talk) 20:12, 21 April 2017 (UTC)
- Hello Wikicology,

Wikimedia diversity - What happened at the conference and how to follow up
We are messaging you now because you signed up as an ambassador for Wikimedia Diversity Conference 2017. We are sharing this message far and wide, so apologies in advance if you are receiving this message twice.
During the conference, we dedicated a full afternoon to discussing the strategic direction and what it means for the work on diversity in the Wikimedia movement. Compiling the outcomes of those conversations, we summarized the key problems and solutions identified, and we created a summary statement. But the conversation is far from over! We still need to hear from diversity ambassadors: (1) what does working for diversity mean at your local context?; (2) what are the needs that should be addressed; (3) what resources are relevant for these identified needs?
We know that diversity gains meaning in context, and this is why we need to hear every voice. Please take a few minutes to go over to the diversity conversation page and add your comments.
If you’d like to stay in touch, and share your experience working for diversity with others, add your profile on our group here.

Join us on The AfroCine Project
This is to introduce you to a new Wikimedia project called The AfroCine Project. This new project is dedicated to improving the coverage of the history, works, people, places, events, etc, that are associated with the cinema, theatre and arts of Africa, African countries, the Caribbean, and the diaspora. If you would love to be part of this (or you're already active in this area), by coordinating local programmes around African cinema (independently or otherwise) in your community or local Wikipedia, kindly list your username or organization as a participant on the meta project page here.
Furthermore, In the months of October and November, we are organizing a global contest and edit-a-thon tagged: The Months of African Cinema. If you would love to join this exciting event, also list your username as a participant on the English Wikipedia page. If you would love to lead this contest (or any other relevant program) for a non-English Wikipedia community, please feel free to translate the English Wikiproject page to your local language Wikipedia, or you can create one from scratch!
Dear Alangi Derick. Since I translated the page Wikimedians of Cameroon User Group 10 months ago there have been many changes? Could you update the translation tagging so that the translations of the page can be updated? Thank you, --Gereon K. (talk) 16:43, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- @Gereon K.: I can give it a shot but I've not got translation-admin userrights on Meta. But let me poke some heads to help me out. Thanks a lot --Alangi Derick (talk) 17:40, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
- I don't have the rights either. You might ask User:Pamputt, who made the page translatable - or User:Base, who can do it as well. --Gereon K. (talk) 20:25, 13 September 2018 (UTC)

The Community Wishlist Survey
You get this message because you’ve previously participated in the Community Wishlist Survey. I just wanted to let you know that this year’s survey is now open for proposals. You can suggest technical changes until 11 November: Community Wishlist Survey 2019.
You can vote from November 16 to November 30. To keep the number of messages at a reasonable level, I won’t send out a separate reminder to you about that. /Johan (WMF) 11:24, 30 October 2018 (UTC)
Would you pleased to write a sparkpost email extension for Mediawiki?
Dear X-Savitar, We found you wrote Extension:SendGrid, which is great! Even tough SendGrid is good service, many wikisites in China and east Asia, includeing us prefer SparkPost over SendGrid. SparkPost have larger free email limit (15,000emails/30days) and tend to be more stable connecting from Asia. Would you pleased to be kind enough to write another email extension for Mediawiki to support SparkPost API? or add SparkPost API support into your great Extension:SendGrid?
- @Zoglun:, yes it's possible to write an extension to interface the SparkPost API. Do you use Wikimedia Phabricator? If not, please do create an account and we can move over there and continue the conversation. I can track this request on my workboard and begin working on something. Thanks and let me know if there is anything and I'll be glad to help. --X-Savitar (talk) 11:38, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
I noticed that you have signed up as a Wikimedia Diversity Ambassador, after the Diversity Conference held in Stockholm 2017. In August this year, Wikimania will take place in Stockholm, and our goal is to use Ambassadors to reach out to local communities, to spread the news about the conference and the outcomes afterwards. The conference theme (still to be announced) will connect closely to diversity. If you would like to be involved as a Wikimania ambassador, please sign up at the Ambassador page at the Wikimania wiki!
A first thing to do, if you would like to help out, would be to translate the scholarship page at the Wikimania wiki into the language(s) you speak!
