A gentle reminder to follow due process on SRUC
[edit]Hi, Email reminders are essential part of the process when putting request onhold as not all users watch onwiki talk pages. This rename shouldn't have been processed without an email notification. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 05:47, 31 March 2025 (UTC)

- It is common sense if there is an email attached to an account and Special:EmailUser shows you can email them, then it should be done. This practice is being followed from as long as I remember. Assistance page on enwiki mention how such request should be handled. Since you got the flag just a month ago, I recommend observing these common practice on SRUC before actioning the requests as mishandled usurpation requests can lead to someone losing their username. Remember a lot of people just use Wikipedia to read and can also have account. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 12:02, 31 March 2025 (UTC)
- I would be fine with email reminders, and I agree it does help. But current policy in meta doesn't clearly mention that it is a must, instead of the usurpation requested template. Spam article on zhwikis
[edit]Hey there. I noticed you are on the antispam contacts list, so wanted to reach out. I recently completed an investigation into a massive cross-wiki spam operation, in which a network of accounts and IP proxies created hundreds of articles about David Woodard and push his name into several other articles. The Chinese Wikipedia (as well as the Yue and Wu wikis) was also affected by this, with the account Swmmng (talk · contribs · CA) creating the Chinese and Cantonese articles, presumably using a poor-quality machine translation. The global stewards have already deleted more than 200 articles from the smaller Wikipedias, and individual Wikipedia projects have started deleting or opening deletion discussions on their own articles. I just wanted to let you know about this, in case you think it will be necessary to take action against these articles on the Chinese Wikipedia. --Grnrchst (talk) 10:16, 3 July 2025 (UTC)
