Welcome to Wikimedia!
[edit]
Hi Bernadette! Glad to see that your account is set up, and I'd like to extend a warm on-wiki welcome to the Wikimedia movement! This is the talk page where you'll receive many messages about topics not specific to a particular wiki. You may wish to set up your associated userpage (which will appear by default in all language wikis) using the {{User info 2024}} template. I've included the generic welcome message below for your reference, and feel free to ask if you have any questions! I look forward to meeting you in person in D.C. next week!
Hello, BMeehan-WMF. Welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum if you need help with something (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). Also worthwhile acquainting yourself with the functions of global user pages. Happy editing!
Cheers, Sdkb talk 16:04, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Sdkb - Bernadette will start in her role next week on the 20th Jan and won't have access to this account till then so thanking you for the lovely welcome on her behalf now. Mayur मयूर-WMF (talk) 17:23, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Sdkb Thanks so much for the warm welcome - and especially for the delicious e-alfajores (my favorite!) BMeehan-WMF (talk) 14:19, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

@BMeehan-WMF: Hi there! Sorry for the late reply. I've since found out that the outing situation is committed by a globally banned user. As such, I've sent two emails to you bmeehan at wikimedia.org inbox by now from a ProtonMail address of mine whose titles should be along the lines of "Reporting BrillLyle global ban evasions". Thank you.~2026-15257-71 (talk) 16:02, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the additional detail. I have located the emails and forwarded them to the trust and safety team who can look into this further. You can also contact them directly on ca
wikimedia.org. BMeehan-WMF (talk) 14:10, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
- @BMeehan-WMF: You're welcome! Unfortunately the T&S team told me that they're not choosing to ban the ban-evader's IP address identities at this time, although I had since found an additional temporary account which had been used by the ban-evader in the past. Please understand that ultimately the situation will require your personal attention with respect to handling and resolution given the complexity of it.
- Are local project sysops empowered to unilaterally block the ban-evader's identities if they found the behavioral evidence convincing? Thanks.~2026-17415-46 (talk) 13:14, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
- Update: As you may had seen in my latest email, the situation had just taken a dangerous turn.~2026-19285-65 (talk) 18:30, 28 March 2026 (UTC)

Please see the Café page for more information, including how to attend. |
Hi Bernadette, welcome to Meta. While you're learning about the Wikiverse and shaking hands, attending the Café might be fun and informative. There will be people here who you might like to meet, and who might like to meet you. Also, the Café sessions provide some visibility of what's happening around here. Have a good day. ↠Pine (✉) 21:43, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Pine Thanks for this invite and reaching out. I'm sorry to miss it as I have a previous commitment that day. I'll try and catch a future session, as I'm always open to learning more and meeting new volunteers. Best of luck to the Café team. BMeehan-WMF (talk) 18:53, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- Okay, thanks for letting me know. By the way, I heard that you're planning a tour of the Wikiverse. Template:Recurring online international meetings and Template:Main Page/WM News may list some opportunities of interest. Hopefully in your first one to two years you'll visit all of the large international events, plus many of the recurring online meetings. As you develop your priorities and agenda, you may like to plan your visits accordingly, such as by visiting online & in person meetings that align with specific topics or regions that you're prioritizing at the time. ↠Pine (✉) 02:40, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Pine yes, I am listening, learning and engaging around the puzzle globe! Thanks for these suggestions, I'll have a look as I continue to expand my engagement. BMeehan-WMF (talk) 15:25, 28 February 2026 (UTC)

The article about you
[edit]Belated welcome and all that. Please read en:Bernadette Meehan and its talkpage. If there are factual errors on the article, please tell us on the talkpage (we can't guarantee that we can make the changes you want, for obvious reasons, but we do try to get it right and accommodate people where possible). Thanks! Polygnotus (talk) 15:49, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks @Polygnotus for contacting me. While I appreciate that within Wikipedia community policies, the subject of a BLP can ask uninvolved editors for changes, I will defer to the editors to discuss what content to include or exclude. Thanks again for reaching out. BMeehan-WMF (talk) 16:45, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks! If you ever need anything, feel free to shout. Polygnotus (talk) 16:57, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
