Revocation of rights
Hello, I am revoking your rights here for the following reasons:
- You have been adding machine and AI translations here. The examples are at Translations:Mailing lists/Overview/534/st in a language that you do not speak or understand and also your very recent Hindi translations which even have some very basic errors in them.
- SM7 had also advised you at Hindi Wikiversity against adding machine-translated content.
- On a crosswiki level also there have been concerns and signs of untrustworthyness for you (including your various bans (1, 2, 3) that were lifted about 1-2 months ago): you have made various requests that are hatcollect-y at such as administrator permissions on projects you are less active or experienced such as Steward_requests/Permissions/2024-07#Cactusisme@bugwiki and Steward_requests/Permissions/2025-02#Cactusisme@hi.wikiversity
- There is also the recently rejected VRT request and the redirect autopatrol request.
- On a personal level, I have taken note of some of your low-effort responses to questions or explanations asked from you (examples: w:User_talk:Cactusisme#You_declined_a_redirect,_asking_for_a_source_.._but_.., simple:User_talk:Cactusisme/Archive_4#Revert on simplewiki).
These is all, in summary, a bad form for an autopatroller (as your edits still potentially need checking), let alone a patroller, so I think it is too premature for you to have these rights here and your edits could need manual checking. Svārtava (tɕ) 14:39, 12 March 2025 (UTC)

- I don't think that excuses you from the concern. You published error-containing machine translations here which itself is unbecoming of an (auto)patroller here. There is also User_talk:Cactusisme/2025#Please_stop which contributes to demonstrating that there are gaps in your understanding of this project.
- Hatcollecting applies to all kind of rights, including smaller ones, which is why the rejected VRT and redirect autopatrol requests are relevant. I tried to list as many permission requests of yours to show the continuing pattern of right requests and failed outcomes.
- Regarding w:User_talk:Cactusisme#You_declined_a_redirect,_asking_for_a_source_.._but_.. here, I find Please submit a new request bit of a bureaucracy-minded reply instead of one that aims to discuss the underlying issue. This is especially noteworthy because I could see the same with the other linked discussion, where it is pretty indefensible.
- Finally, there is no objectivity in being fit for the rights and it depends on analysis and discretion. I was not aware of all these issues earlier, or else I would have showed my opposition at your patroller request which may have impacted the granting admin's decision to do so. Also, per your recent errors I pointed out, I believe there is sufficient reason to revoke your rights and after being familiar with the issues, I would definitely be opposed to a restoration for now. - Regarding your last point, one of them is broken, the first link links to a recent conversation with an ip regarding a redirect issue, Zioness. If you look deeper into the conversation, you may realise I had accepted another redirect, The Zioness. Thus, I felt the other one is not sufficient. However, Since the Ip requested again, I would be taking a deeper look before accepting, and also I wanted to know the reason why the Ip wanted the redirect to make sure the ip is not a advertiser. - @Cactusisme, a translation admin here. if you are looking to learn how to be a translation administrator (TA), there are some stuff to follow. What you did was a start, but there is still some way to go. In addition to the Translate extension’s guidelines about marking a page for translation:, on Meta here as well there is also Meta:Internationalization guidelines.
- In your work above, there are stuff that you don't need to do, i.e. putting that <!-- T1 --> tags as this will be generated automatically by the extension when a TA marks the page for translation. This is important as you do not want old translated strings to appear out of place. There are some other issues as well in your work, i.e. placement of <translate>, etc.
- Here's the diff of a page that I recently tagged up which you can take as reference, and the next revision after all that work is what the extension does when I mark the page for translation. Robertsky (talk) 01:08, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

- Jinoy shared updates about Wiki Loves Folklore. The results of the event was announced yesterday. Shared the thanks note to each commiunity members for their support in organising the activity
- Jinoy shared updates about Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos 2025 (WPWP) event and shared the plans about conducting a regional level program in association with WPWP.
- Manoj shared updates about Wiki Loves Earth in India competition. Around 4000 photos have been uploaded during the time of call and Manoj shared plans to socialize by sending mails on the same for better reach.
- Jinoy shared that, following an email from IMUG on June 5, 2025, requesting support and mentorship for a hackathon in Kochi (July 25–27, 2025), the update was communicated through community channels and included in the June newsletter. During this call, he invited inputs from UG members.

- On 26th July 2025, we had our user group monthly meeting online via Google Meet. Jinoy shared the agenda of the meeting and welcomed everyone. 13 members attended the UG meeting.
- Shared the update about the eligibility of UG to take part in the shortlisting process for the WMF Board of Trustees 2025 Election. Jinoy has been nominated as the group’s representative voter.
- Updates on the Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos (WPWP) 2025 campaign on Malayalam Wikipedia. Hashtag #WPWPINKL is using to track the contributions.
- Ranjithsiji shared that Wiki Loves Earth 2025 in India is being organized again after 2017, with international team support.
- Jinoy shared the idea of organising the Wiki Loves Onam 2025 campaign this year with the support of UG members and the community. Plans include a longer campaign, improving Onam-related articles and media files.
- User group members will be participating in Wikimania 2025 at Nairobi. Four posters (UG + individual) from Kerala are selected. Feedback from last year on proper image licensing has been addressed.
- New member of UG, Kamarudheenelankur shared about the plan to take photos of bus stops at Malappuram and uploads to Commons.
- Members suggested forming a review committee for handling UG assets. Jinoy shared that a discussion will be started on the criteria for using UG assets.
- Akbarali suggested preparing reports in Malayalam. Volunteers are welcome to help with translations. (read more...)

- On 23rd August 2025, we had our user group monthly meeting online via Google Meet. Sixteen members attended the UG meeting. Jinoy shared the agenda for the meeting and welcomed everyone to the meeting.
- Ranjithsiji initiated discussions on the need to apply for the Annual General Support Fund (GSF). The deadline for submission is 5th September 2025.
- Ranjith, Manoj, Jinoy, Tony shared the update about the received. Members emphasized finalizing pending support reports before proceeding with the new application.
- Jinoy presented a draft policy for handling User Group assets. Members are invited to provide feedback and suggestions on the talk page or on the document.
- Updates on ongoing campaigns Wiki Loves Onam 2025 and Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos 2025 were shared.
- Ranjithsiji announced that the proposal for WikiConference India 2026 will be submitted in September and plans are underway to organize WikiConference Kerala in December 2025.
- Vijayan V K proposed starting a campaign to create school articles from SchoolWiki to Malayalam Wikipedia, with a focus on uploading at least one photo for each school.
- Participants (Manoj, Ranjith, Jinoy and Akbarali who participated the meeting) who attended Wikimania 2025 shared their experiences.
- Discussions also touched upon issues in Malayalam Wiktionary’s IPA module, possible solutions for Commons uploads.
