help
[edit]Hi count count
I saw you reported me as a spambot, but I am a real person with a passion for telecom market that’s why my contributions are about this topic. Could you please delete your report?- careerme — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Careerme (talk) 09:44, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
- You are spamming the commercial "deal" website
internet-offer.chall over. Your every edit contains a link to it. It does not matter if you are a bot or not, this behavior is unacceptable. --Count Count (talk) 09:48, 6 August 2023 (UTC)- I was using the informative guides of that website because I found exactly the overview for the missing information on wiki pages. Why do you think they are “deal”? Careerme (talk) 10:08, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
- They are not a reliable source, see en:WP:RS, de:WP:Q, fr:Wikipédia:Sources fiables, it:Wikipedia:Fonti attendibili. And right on their frontpage they write: "We compare and find the best deal for you. Switch and save today!". So yes, a "deal" website. Count Count (talk) 10:14, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
- I am sorry, but I do not agree with your point of view: the website pages that I link are not necessarily correlated with the Deals offered by the section, I only reported their guides and company overview where they cite information with a source link at the end of the page. I do not see any difference with reporting an online newspaper where it is plenty of adv banners and that sell users data for lucrative purpose.
- I think that as wiki contributors our duty is to give relevant and complete information to our users with sources where they can dive deep into the specific topic without exposing them to the risk of selling of personal data.
- Do you agree on that? If yes, I would request to cancel your report as my contribution are respecting the rules. Careerme (talk) 10:52, 6 August 2023 (UTC)
- I don't really care if you agree with me. The persistent adding of one specific commercial website (which is in no way a reliable source) in all of your edits and on multiple language versions counts as spamming and that is definitely not allowed. I am confident that the frwiki sysops and the stewards will share my point of view. Count Count (talk) 11:06, 6 August 2023 (UTC)

Chatting to Stewards in IRC
[edit]Hi. I am aware that you are using IRC, though I cannot say that I have checked whether you drop into the stewards channel #wikimedia-stewards. It is a useful place if you quickly want them to block an IP (single or range), or lock a spamming account. Sometimes that is more responsive than having to do other requests. If that is of interest, let me know and I can give a few shortcuts to get things set up for easier outcomes. — billinghurst sDrewth 22:06, 31 August 2023 (UTC)
- I have pinged stewards in #wikimedia-stewards before via
@steward Please have a look at <my request on SRG>but if there are other shortcuts and/or conventions I would like to know. Count Count (talk) 07:26, 1 September 2023 (UTC) - BTW I am currently working on some anti-spam tools and would like your feedback. One is a library with which I can search the databases for external links over all wikis. I could turn this into a global linksearch web app. The advantages are that it would be quicker (usually < 1.5 seconds) and more reliable than global search which often fails at times of peak usage. It would also not tax the cloudelastic infrastructure as much. What do you think? --Count Count (talk) 07:33, 1 September 2023 (UTC)

Congratulations, dear administrator!
[edit]| Congratulations, Count Count! You now have the rights of an administrator on Meta-Wiki. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Adminstrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, and Meta:Requests for deletion, but also Talk:Spam blacklist and Talk:Interwiki map), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care. Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-adminconnect. You may find Meta:Admin handbook to be useful. Please also check or add your entry to the Template:List of administrators. You're also allowed to subscribe to the metawiki-admins private mailing list (subscription instructions on that page). Again, congratulations and welcome to the team. --M/ (talk) 15:25, 3 April 2024 (UTC) |
Help with blocked domain
[edit]Hello Count Count,
My name is Maria and I am writing on behalf of the company TalentUp.io.
Our main goal is to write blogs on our website about salaries, IT, HR and more! We want to add this valuable information to Wikipedia, as there is little information about salaries in any article we have come across about business.
Our aim is not to be spammers and we have been seen as such. Wikipedia banned our previous account, so we created another one to continue adding value to Wikipedia articles in many languages. This is our first time editing and we may have made some mistakes. However, we are willing to learn and listen to your suggestions to get better.
We kindly ask you to reconsider our domain so that we can continue to edit and add information to Wikipedia articles.
Thank you in advance.
We look forward to hearing your suggestions and working with our domain.
Best regards, Maria and the TalentUP team Maria.Viladrich (talk) 08:47, 16 April 2024 (UTC)
- Your previous account user:Maria VFC was globally locked for spamming. Apparently you did not get the hint but started spamming the domain in multiple language versions of Wikipedia, again. The consequence was that your domain has been added to the global spam blacklist to stop the spamming once and for all. I don't see a reason to reconsider. Your domain is not a reliable source and the Wikimedia wikis, in particular Wikipedia, are not a vehicle for the promotion of your domain. Count Count (talk) 09:32, 16 April 2024 (UTC)

Wikidata
[edit]I noticed that Spamcheck doesn't monitor link additions on Wikidata. Is this intentional or a bug? e.g. d:User:XXBlackburnXx/sandbox didn't get logged, unless I'm missing something. - XXBlackburnXx (talk) 20:48, 1 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! @XXBlackburnXx!
- Spamcheck should report link additions to normal wikitext pages on Wikidata. I will have a look why this apparently does not work. Watching and recording Wikidata object link additions is not yet implemented. It is on my TODO list for Spamcheck though. Count Count (talk) 05:00, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
- Well the problem with wikitext pages seems to be with RESTBase requests in general, see phab:T366414. I definitely better monitoring so I can catch something like this earlier. Count Count (talk) 06:15, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
- @XXBlackburnXx, I have switched to the Mediawiki Rest API which also works for Wikidata objects. So all external link additions on Wikidata should be recorded from now on. Count Count (talk) 05:42, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
- Awesome!! I use your tool daily so it will be incredibly handy ;). - XXBlackburnXx (talk) 05:44, 14 June 2024 (UTC)
- @XXBlackburnXx, good to hear! If you have encounter any problems with it or if you have any feature requests, please let me know! Count Count (talk) 12:21, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

l2-top.ru
[edit]- Сайт l2-top.ru Добавлен на wiki Ошибочно наши конкуренты пытаются нам навредить
- просим снять блокировку с l2-top.ru 78.111.212.99 12:22, 7 July 2024 (UTC)
- This domain was spammed from your IP address not from "competitors". It also does not seem useful for the WMF wikis so it won't be removed from the spam blacklist. --Count Count (talk) 15:52, 8 July 2024 (UTC)
UniversityCube.net
[edit]Dear Count Count (talk),
I am reaching out to inform you that our website has been mistakenly listed as spam. We adhere to Wikipedia’s guidelines and anti-spam policies, including California’s anti-spam law (California Business and Professions Code, Section 17529 et seq.).
Our company, UniversityCube, is fully registered under FILE #202358412737, and we strive to operate transparently and ethically.
Could you kindly review and consider removing our website from the spam list? Please let me know if any additional information is needed to assist in this process. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Best regards, UniversityCube (talk) 21:24, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
- The request was already declined on Talk:SBL, see the reply from @Johannnes89 there. Count Count (talk) 09:40, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
unair.ac.id
[edit]Hey. I'm hitting an invisible limit when I try to query for 'unair.ac.id' (see Talk:Spam_blacklist#LTA_spam) and can't view anything past August last year. Would it be possible to get a list of all the adders from this domain up until that point? It can also be global user IDs, i'm technically flexible enough to handle that.
I've tried using COIBot, but it's not generating anything at all, and I don't have direct database access to linkwatcher. XXBlackburnXx (talk) 13:47, 2 January 2025 (UTC)
Please reconsider
[edit]Dear Count Count,
more than one year ago you blocked my domain marken.legal.
It is a reputable legal website which, unlike most other websites, also contains real tips, advice and legal opinions.
Some of the topics are discussed exclusively there.
It is true that too many entries were linked a good year ago. Unfortunately, some SEO service providers have also become ‘independent’.
I apologise for this behaviour.
Nevertheless, the process was not as intended at the time. No warning was given. So it was not the ‘last resort’.
It is also envisaged that a release can take place after a one-year ban. I ask for your gracious consideration.
Yours sincerely

Deletion of an article in my namespace
[edit]Hello,
You have recently deleted User:NorthernWinds/Explaining, which was linked as a kind of "for further reading" page in my report of Simple wiki.
You have deleted it for being an "attack page". According to the English Wikipedia: an attack page is a in any namespace, that exists primarily to disparage or threaten its subject. The page you deleted had no "threat" and was not "disparage". Furthermore, it was linked in a report, which should be allowed to have such allegations. The page did not attack personally, but rather explain how a comment made about me is wrong. If I indeed attacked someone, I would like to apologize (but for this, I need to know what I said...).
The page was made in good faith, with proof linked to what I said about the statement I was addressing. Could you please reinstate it?
Best regards, NorthernWinds (talk) 17:55, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- This was an attack page as defined by the Meta:Deletion policy. I am not going to reinstate it. If you need it or part of it for the UCoC case, you can add the content inline there and the U4C can decide if the content conforms to policy. Count Count (talk) 18:05, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hello @Count Count,
- I still do not see a reason to delete, and do not understand how it violated the rules. I will consider adding it to the main article (I am not sure whether I should, since as I noted there, it was not directly relevant)
- To prevent future violations, I would appreciate pointing out a specific line or statement you can flag as an "attack" from the deleted page. I am Committed to following the rules and being civil.
- Thanks, NorthernWinds (talk) 18:34, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- If it is not relevant, don't add it. Don't create pages where you list your misgivings about someone else outside of venues where this procedurally allowed such as U4C cases. Count Count (talk) 18:43, 27 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, I understand what I did wrong now. I thought the space could be extended to my namespace in case of need. Just to be sure, I would like to confirm that none of what was present there would have violated the rules had it been placed in the appropriate procedure page.
- Thank you for helping me improve upon my mistakes, NorthernWinds (talk) 18:53, 27 July 2025 (UTC)

Get started with the Lua interface to simplify the preparation of modules for translation in MetaWiki
[edit]Greetings!
The Language and Product Localization team has developed a Lua interface to simplify the preparation of Lua modules for translation in the MetaWiki platform. This means that module developers can now use the new Lua interface to load translatable strings, and the translators can translate them in the same translation interface that is used for templates and wiki pages.
This improvement makes it easier for translators to find and edit module strings without dealing with raw Lua code. It helps prevent mistakes that could break the module during translation.
We invite you to watch our demo video and read more about translatable modules to understand how it works. Please give us your feedback on this talk page on how well the Lua interface addresses the challenges in your workflow and how useful it is in module localization tasks. You can also refer to Module:User Wikimedia project, which was recently converted to utilize these messages, for example usage.
Your feedback is important as it will help us evaluate and decide how to continue developing and improving this interface, extend it to other wikis, or change our approach.
Thank you, and we anticipate your honest feedback.

Spam check for a user
[edit]Hi. Thanks for creating spamcheck - it's an awesome tool! Have you considered creating a similar tool to allow checking the domains that a particular user has added? e.g. I am looking at en:Special:Contributions/Ninaclapz but it's difficult to judge whether they are a spammer or not. Some domains are fine, others like amsterdamtips.com look like they could be spam. It would be helpful if we could summarise the contribs to see all the domains at once, with the option to scan them with spamcheck, instead of manually looking through them. Unless I'm mistaken, I don't think we have a tool like that? Smartse (talk) 16:31, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- I'm an idiot: https://spamcheck.toolforge.org/by-user?q=Ninaclapz although sorting by domain would still be useful (and maybe adding a link / mention of user searches to https://spamcheck.toolforge.org ?) Smartse (talk) 17:33, 31 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for the feeback! Sorting by domain is a good idea, I will add it to my TODO list. Adding the user search functionality in the main UI is already planned. Count Count (talk) 12:28, 1 August 2025 (UTC)
Could it be possible to add graph visualisation?
[edit]Hello! I just discovered today Spamcheck and it looks to be very useful to show partners of Wikipedia library that access they provide to us result in growing citation usage of their websites, in particular as links added by different contributors on multiple wikis. Could it be possible, whenever you have the time and the mind to work on this, to add a chart visualisation at the bottom of the list page? It would allow to see when the links were most added over the time, for example with a breakdown by wiki. Thanks and have a good day! Framawiki (talk) 13:58, 23 December 2025 (UTC)
