Admin Abuse[edit]

Danny, A group of editors and admins refuse to allow a balance of material and links. Gamaliel, Robert McClenon, Jpgordon, JamesMLane, and a few others now own the pages. Any attempts to modify the page is met by thier gang edits. They allow only links to pro kennedy sites, none to negative sites regardless of the wealth of content they may provide. They push their pov on all of the Kennedy pages. It's because of editors and admins like these that Wikipedia is doubted as a source. ie; the New York Times published policy against Wiki as a source. The group refuses to agree to consensus when it is against them. I've now been blocked by Jpgordon in an abuse of admin priv. My act was not vandalism, it's simply not agreeing with their one sided pov. I am not willing to endure any more arb or mediation. These guys are out of control. 24.147.103.146 05:45, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

Hi, you have been given temporary adminship under the exception listed at Administrator#Exceptions. As explained on that page, because the normal approval process has not been undertaken, you should limit the use of your sysop powers to the reasons you have been given this adminship (ie- editing of protected pages related to the board elections). If you wish to apply for full sysop access, please follow the procedure described at Administrator#Policy for requesting adminship. Thank you. Hi Danny. Thank you for your notice. I'll make the translation page in the JP WP. I can't speak Ainu. But I agree it's very nice to have the Ainu Wikipedia: I've thought on it till my first contribution to the Wikipedia. I'll seek anyone who has interest on the Ainu WP. It appears Cullen328 has been abusing his power and has been vengeful because of a recent edit dispute. When I removed one link on a page and replaced it with another correct one, he blocked me and claimed that I had vandalized the page. If you could remove his adminship or send him a warning, that would be great.

election[edit]

Thank you for your reply. We start to translate. BTw I have a question on the election. (Though I've noticed some candidates haven't confirmed yet,) where will the election be held? IIRC has it already started, or not? Anyway I can't find the URL to vote and want to know it to make a notice in Japanese. Your reply will be appliciated. Aphaea 00:58, 30 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

For Ainu WP/WT projects I tried to make a survay. There are difficulties for realisation Ainu WP. In particular orthography is nescessary to be solved technically. Ainu is written only in w:en:Kana borrowed from Japanese, but Ainu character set have some changed. They need two series of characters which don't exist in Japanese orthography. One of them is available some fontset, but the other minimized プ (imagine ォ for オ) doesn't appear UTF-8 table as far as I know. --Aphaia 12:00, 1 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Election results[edit]

Danny, thanks for your administering the elections and the result announcement. However, will there be an official report for it, including breakdown of votes per candidate, etc.? Right now, it's all hearsay, and I cannot point anyone to an "official" announcement. Thanks. Fuzheado 02:04, 15 Jun 2004 (UTC)

UNESCO[edit]

Hi, Anthere suggested I contacted you regarding the opportunity/possibility of getting in touch with the UNESCO and trying to get recognized. Are you interested in that issue ? I do know some big fishes in that organization but I don't know what kind of things have already been done. I'll be on vacation for almost six weeks starting next saturday, far from my computer though I'll check my mails. villy 03:17, 30 Jun 2004 (UTC)

OK thanks for your answer, and sorry for the following poor English. Here is the problem, from my part : the UNESCO is a big organization, very bureaucratic ; I worked two years at the French Secretary-General of the Government and was able to establish contacts of very good levels in the diplomatic corps and in some directions of the UNESCO. However, I know badly its organization chart and even more badly the very big number of project which are in progress. UNESCO's Web site reflects an immense variety of centres of interests. It seems to me that it's necessary to begin by determining what will be the good interlocutors and to identify which projects Wikimedia could join. Do you know in depth the organization chart and the current projects? If not, we could both begin by studying www.unesco.org during the next 2 months and to make a synthesis in September. What do you think of it? I'm leaving Paris on next Saturday for a 6 weeks holydays. I could dedicate this to scrutinize, say, half of the UNESCO's Web site and write a synthesis about it. villy 06:14, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Danny, at UNESCO's main page (www.unesco.org), there are 6 themes in a THEMES box at the upper right of the page : Education, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, Culture, Communication & Information and Special Focus. I suggest I'll do the first three, with all the related sub-pages. Then there's a REGION/COUNTRIES box : I can browse over Africa, Arab States and Asia/Pacific. Finally I think we should both have a look at UNESCO communities and Field network (REGION/COUNTRIES box) and at the information offered on the right sidebar (THE ORGANIZATION and ON-LINE SERVICES). Do you think that the burden is equally shared ? You can reach me at jean-christophe.chazalette@laposte.net during the summer, I'll be back online at mid-august. Last thing : I'll create a User:Jean-Christophe Chazalette here on Meta and ask User:Aurevilly for deletion to avoid any too obvious connection mith my French user page (I had trouble on w:fr with people bashing my kind of job, that job being still in history of meta User:Aurevilly). villy 13:30, 1 Jul 2004 (UTC)

don't be a punc.![edit]

Hi Danny, please don't alter punctuation of articles without discussing it on the Talk page first. Commas between subordinate clauses and final referents are a standard way to clarify long paragraphs! Thanks, +sj+ 16:52, 1 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Look, if you want to make the paragraph clearer, find a replacement, don't just revert!

Do we really need a Lamest edit-wars ever page on meta-wiki too? I know you two as reasonable persons - it should be possible to find a solution, without edit-warring. Peace, guys ;-) --Elian 17:02, 1 Aug 2004 (UTC)

etoumbi[edit]

Dear Danny, I tried to look for the Chinese translation for the city "Etoumbi", but cannot find any official document. However, I can find the translation for the province where Etoumbi is located at, which means the West part of the lowland. therefore, can I ask you something before I made my own translation:

  • Can you tell me how can I read the word "Etoumbi"? From my understanding, the syllables are "E-tou-mbi". Is "tou" pronounced the same as the French way? How do we pronounce "mbi"? Is it something like "bi" but with a stronger nasal influence, or just "bi" or "mi"?

Thanks a lot for your help. -- Tomchiukc 14:39, 21 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that on Elections for the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation, 2005/En candidates have to have made 400 edits in total (on all projects), but on Election candidates 2005/En they have to have made 400 edits on one project. That's not the same, is it? Which one is correct (I presume the first one). Fruggo 16:14, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Election Candidates[edit]

Hello Danny,

I'm glad to see that you're administering the Board elections once again. I was surprised at how few candidates there were for the positions this time. Do you have any idea why? Perhaps Angela and Anthere meet with high approval. But still, I am quite surprised that only 4 people put themselves forth. I was wondering if you have any insight.

Cheers,

On Elections for the Board of Trustees of the Wikimedia Foundation, 2005/En, the boldfaced language at the top refers to "a link to your languae(s)." Danny, I'm being told I haven't made any contributions. Does this mean that I can't vote unless I'm an active participant in wikimedia as well as wikipedia? (And in any case I know I had a wikimedia ID in the past, but for some reason I can't now access it.) Deb 18:22, 29 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Tompecina 2x declared he doesn't want to work on the cs Wikipedia. He also declared by mail (18th September, evening), he does not want to have sysop rights. See [2]. I sent details to steward Datrio. I asked Tompecina if he change decision you have to write it. But Tompecina hasn't changed his decision yet. Sysop rights for user who declared no future activity are unnecessary. --Ludek 09:02, 21 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I have to repeat once again: Mr. Pecina was desysopped temporarily and unconditionally. To set new and new conditions for re-sysopping is clear violation of original application for desysopping.

IMHO sysop rights are unnecessary for those who don't enforce Wikipedia rules and do nothing against lynching.

One of my friends wrote the article to highlight the history of wikipedia, how to edit it, what needs to be done, and so on (it's the top article on the page I referred, viewable unfortunately only in IE). Anyway, I'll keep you posted on the progress of the bn-wiki. Hopefully, we'll cross 1000 articles within a month. Thanks. --Ragib 22:28, 30 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

About personal information deletion[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you deleted all related to some user, including user talk pages on pt:Wikipedia. That project don't have any specif rules related to it and have more than 50 sysops. Because a sysop isn't needed to make that changes in that project, any steward grant to himself sysop privilegies to do anything and I am a sysop on pt:Wikipedia , I blocked myself on pt:Wikipedia for 1 day. Greetings Danny. I was requested to find out why did you deleted these pages when the community clearly indicated that they should *not* be deleted, and (specially) without requesting information about the facts at all. I talked to Angela about it soon after he made his first request and she informed me the issue was well known of the pt community and gave me a bit more information on the issue. I consequently indicated VR22 I would not fullfill his request and that he had to see with the local community at pt. The last email I received from VR22 was 2 hours ago and he was still requesting removal of the information. Anthere 02:48, 25 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Another nit to pick....[edit]

Hi, Danny -

We don't know each other from holes in the ground, but I've been advised to contact a Steward about this and I liked your name. So there.

If you go to Help talk:Starting a new page#Missing Line? you can follow what this minor fuss is about. Apparently there has been an extraneous line of text in the template that completes the Starting a new page, the phrase "this is wrong" appears to the right of the last line of the Starting a new page#Protecting a page from being created sectin,

"See Wikipedia:Quick guide for a "cheatsheet" listing basic editing commands. this is wrong"
(emphasis added.)

I used to be able to copy and paste the template into my sandbox and it would display; now that doesn't work. The template in questinon is/was {{h:f|langs=|enname=Starting a new page}}.

Thanks. ChiDom 21:26, 3 August 2006 (UTC) (um, I'm Chidom at Wikipedia, without the upper-case D.)

Stewards on IRC[edit]

Hi, I am posting this to the talk page of all stewards. I am user:Walter, steward. It came to the attention that it is for users who urgently need the assistance of a steward it is not always easy to find one. I am posting this to ask your help to try to improve our service to the community.

The best hope I believe for a user to find a steward is IRC I think. There is a channel for the stewards , #wikimedia-stewards but there very few stewards there mostly if any.

So my first request is that when you are online and have time to also open the channel #wikimedia-stewards That can easy and even automatically depending of your IRC-client. Two suggestions; Gaim, you can add IRC-channels and users between your MSN, Jabber and other contacts. Very easy to use. Or chatZilla, more a real IRC program.

You can also use a webbased solution. Can also be useful when you are not at home. The IRC gateway I have setup will do its work for this purpose. http://chat.wikizine.org.

Finaly; You have your real name, your wikimedia user name and some have a totally different IRC name. I have created a new column on Stewards#Active_stewards to fill in your IRC-nick , if you are on IRC offcource. I have already filled it in for some who I know.

This request is not personally direct to you but to all stewards in general. Not everybody needs to be in that IRC -channel. If you know the channel exists that is already a very good start. Greetings, --Walter 20:43, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cspurrier; Wikinews Bureaucrat; misusing Bureaucrat and Checkuser authority[edit]

It's impossible to RfDA him because he has hijacked the RfDA process on Wikinews with unilateral striking of RfDA's and striking of votes.

Cspurrier has systematically been pushing anglo-american pov on wikinews and systematically pushing away editors who do not share that pov.

Infractions;

1; Reinstating an RfDA against User:PVJ59 unilaterally (no consensus) after the nominator of the RfDA withdrew the RfDA.[3]

2; Misused Checkuser against Blueliner who was accused of no misbehavior and then PERMANENTLY banned her and struck out her vote based upon circumstantial checkuser evidence(same IP range).[4]

3; Falsely accused Tohstsalstuen of being a sockpuppet and struck out his vote.[5]

Please remove sysop accses from an user at the yiddish encyclopedia[edit]

I Hope that you can understanding a little bit Yiddish. yi:װיקיפּעדיע:וואלן#פארשפארן באנוצער יודל אויף דריי חדשים

please reconsider this move, as i have done nothing wrong, all these votes are sockpupets and they have proven nothing against me.

This user which i asked to make a bureaucrat, has blocked me out in the midst of edit war with me. i came into yiddish wikipedia, a half year ago, when it was a virtual non existing community, 300 pages, since then i worked it up, it has now almost 3000 pages, and i have never ever used my sysop rights, smartly so, because as we are a religious Hasidic society, which is vehemently opposed to free exchange of information without censure, there are my detractors who would not sit silent in the face of a yiiddsh hasidic free community, so i chose as the founder and main contributor to participate from the back seat, working day and night without my sysop name, not to show too much force, ihavenet used my name sysop name and i dont plan too, but now i cannot fix certain articles because of blocks, please reconsider this move as they have shown no breach of policy and vandalism, i pledge never ever to use my sysop to block out Vandals, since the yiddish comuinity is virtual non existence, and if you look up the history of those votes against me you can easily see that they have no series contribution. the person who has asked you to block me out was blocked before from yiddish wikipedia and from Hebrew wikipedia due to open vadalailsm. so he is a person who has interest ion the demise of wikipedia community, please don't act on his wish because my absence will mean a death knell on Yiddish wikipedia.--71.247.133.244 00:06, 29 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

While I can't deny any abuse in his sysop powers it is needed at this point so that the Yiddish wikipedia can continue to grow, this user has - with real good intentions to build up the Yiddish wikipedia almost destroyed it. While calling him a vandal requires proof, and I'm not sure I can prove it, nor do I have the time to do so, calling him a troll is an understatement. In the last 2 months it has been almost impossible to work with him here on the wikipedia, he has constantly attacked people for no good reason other than his nonsense suspicions that everyone is a sockpoppet, when the only one that is known to have had more than one username here is he himself. That - and the fact that he really wants to build up the wikipedia - is reason why a full block on him is not required, however with him not having the sysop powers we will be able to make sure that he is not bothering others from working on the wikipedia. Thank you.

Yes. I have constantly attacked people, and with pride i was the watch dog here, and i am still the only one who cares to watch this Yiddish wikipedia projects, i have translated all the policies from the English wikkipedia for the growth of our community. that whats the at stake here, whenever somebody broke policy, i barked. and not with my sysop name. to not sway too much weight on the the person breaking the rules. that's the only sin i am guilty. now all those users or user are trying to block me out by taking away my sysop powers, which i vah never ever used. please note that they blocked me out as well. in the midst of a edit war with him. he was a Vandal here and a Vandal in the Hebrew wikipedias, we should not trust his request. please reconsider.--יודל 03:25, 29 אקטאבער 2006 (UTC)

For the obvious question: why do i need sysop rights if i don't use it: the answer is very simple, they have blocked me out before, and he locks articles which he is in the midst of an edit war with me about which version is more proper [6]. it is impossible to give sole rights for somebody who has vanelised 2 wikipedia communities, and was declared a vandal by both wikipedias, in our Yiddish project by Tzvi for doing this [7]. and also in the Hebrew wikipedia as vandal [8]. that he should be the only sysop against me we need to protect the openness and balance of democracy of the very young and fragile Yiddish wikipedia project.--יודל 04:00, 29 אקטאבער 2006 (UTC).

FYI steward-status[edit]

[Stewards] - a new steward election will be held soon. The most likely date for the election to start is 25th of November. This date can still change. Like it is now all existing stewards will need to reapply if they wish to remain steward. The rules of this procedure are still under discussion. All existing stewards and interested users for the function of steward can best apply as soon as possible.

Jiddisch 14:41, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

14:48, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

yidels answer on runis allegations[edit]

First you have to understand that this user: jiddish is an open sockpupet, he makes other users for the simple task of making votes to block me out for nothing, just to call me Vandal, without proof, where i have been a vandal, in the time when i have donenotrhing close to any ting to vandalise wikipedia.

Keep in mind that he was blocked out and declared vandal both in the Yiddish wikipedia and in the Hebrew wikipedia. so his record speaks loud and clear for what his agenda in this wikipedia medium is: to vandalise and destroy every bit of free information that is a block in his worlds view.

now i have done nothing wrong with making and writing policy pages, all i have done is to translate it form the main wikipedia, due to the need of him breaking and destroying everything.

and i have done nothing wrong in making as many redirects pointing it all to one main article. so the many groups who speak yiddish like the litvish Russian or Israel types should all be directed to the most spoken word of the article.

i have done nothing wrong to fight for the right header of an article this is a Democratic language if i believe most Yiddish calls an Apple an Apple i will voice my opinion and make the main article apple, and all other claims for the word an redirect.

on sockpupetry this what he is guilty of. i have had numerous names when yiddish wikipedia was still a grave yard and used it in a non abusive way to make it sound as yiddish wikipedia has numerous users. i have since stoped doing this seeing that he makes an edit fight with me every step that i write..

he has used his sockpupet names in votes and in edit wars which is a grave abuse.

The only think he keeps on saying is that my watching wikipedia from his edits is vandalism because the community of his 2 sockpupet names that have virtually written nothing only edit fights with me they also say i am a vandal.

i have raised his abuse step by step. thats why he is so upset that i make a fuss about him.

and yes words had escalated to unprofessional levels at times, which i had and should and will never stop to apologise for. and i take full responsibility for, - but in no way should the responsibilitymeen to shut off the free speach of wikipedia.

What is his agenda? since he was here he was never hiding his mission to ambush free speech he is an active Chreidy journalist who believes that wikipediea is against Jewish fanatical doctrine and he wont rest until i am driven from it, who hised under the disguise of an inocent user.

He has blocked me before, twice, and is locking all articles where he has a difference of opinion with me.

One sysop that i have not nominated, i was never ever a bureaucrat so i wasn't able to nominate any sysop, has seen his abuse of powers by blocking me in the midst of a difference of opinion with me so he reverted his unfair abusive blockage.

I don't know if you remember my first step to revive yiddish wikipedia, but it was with a clear goal and plan in mind that i shared with everybody, i will write about the hot burning issues of the Yiddish community and the relevant articles will blossom due to its being in the news. I kept my word and since last year, i never failed for a single day, to update the news of the day within theyiddish speaking comunity.

Now we have gotten up to 3000 articles from 300. thanks to my unrelenting faith and trust to this open free exchange of truth calledwikipedia.

Now please i beseech you, please consider how the fanatical frum fervent ultra Orthodox leadership is looking at this Democratic project growth. They sizzle at the idea that plain simple guys are debating and writing openly without any controlled dogma what Judaism is all about what our tradition means today, and so on so forth from the holiest of subjects to theearthly issues of power struggles within the yiddish strict community, that's what they fear` that's why it is a universal fatwa from all chasidic Yiddish speaking rabbis against Internet. they don't fear the porn nor the chasidic controlled chat rooms. they fear only the wikipedia model where nobody can censer the truth about them, the world god and creation. it is like the universities for them, to much knowledge free of control...

So now after they already tried to silence me by force, they visited my wife and threatened her, they called in the middle of the night. so now they are going to ask you for help in their agenda, it is very clever, he knows that without meyiddish wikipedia is dead. that's why his objective is to silence me.

Please consider the grave consequences to this action. and look into the concept here of 1 or 2 users trying to censer a whole wikipedia for religious motives.

I have more and more to write but i will return to answer once i have more time. meanwhile please controll him he should not close and block articles where he is involved with me in a edit war.--יודל 00:41, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

why you did it?[edit]

If you dont understand what we wrote to you in Hebrew, we will write in English, even as you can see I'm very bad in english.

Most of active users in the Yiddish wikipadia went away for one reason: yidel!!!

He attacked already all; again "ALL" Yiddish wikipadia users. And every day he makes here a big slaughter house!!!!

There were votes to black him out, and all active users vote so.

All new users gat attacked from him; since he is here we didn’t received nothing from him, only to drunk the blood of all of us!

Now we ask you with tears in the eyes, pleeeaasss!!! Think about the future of wikipadia, a lot of users went away just because yidel, if you know a little Yiddish you can check it out yourself.

Block him out, and give us the opportunity to build a informative wikkipadia, and not a loathing fighting wikkipadia. Give the sysop rights back to runy, to a man what is thinking about a successful wikkipadia. And block out the guy who is only thinking of carob the wikipadia.

thank you!

Please shut his mouth because i cannot have the time every day again to say: NO I AM NOT amsgila123, he doesn't even bother to request a check-user, nor does he provide one link to support this daily repetitive ridicules vendata that i am a sock puppet with amsgila123. why should i value his repetitive empty accusation with an answer? i guess to help build the yiddish wikipedia and for that i will do it daily with love: so here i go again i am not amsgila123!--יודל 14:26, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
oh i forget: no i am not a vandal, he was blocked from Hebrew wikipedia and from Yiddish (not trough me), so please take his accusations with a grain of salt, because we are dealing with a dangerous vandal here, especially when u see that he failed to bring one shred of evidence in this ongoing saga for the last half year on this page trying to seduce u into blocking me out from wikipedia with not one link to support his labeling me a vandal. thanks--יודל 14:31, 3 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is the mail I got today, Romihaitza 08:44, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The whole story what occurred now: I reverted vandalism. and this admin thinks Danny doesn't understand Yiddish that's why he tries his luck with you. 3rr rule explicitly says to not wavier in the case of vandalism and revert it even a million times.

Now some history, if you look up this page above you will see the whole story:

Our yiddish wikipedia had me as a sysop, they tried to block me out, for no good reason why, only that i warn to much vandals... Danny has given them the benefit of the doubt maybe i am too sharp and strict in my warnings, and has taken away my sysop tools since i never ever used it anyway to block out others only to warn, so we are now on the safe side that my warnings don't Carry so much weight to scare new users away from writing if they do minor vandalism as a new comer. since then, i have thanked Danny for acting responsible and try to inform him in the long run that while his intentions were pure and very responsible, time will tell him that their motives were really to block me, and not only to unsyop me, here we have one scenario that makes my case crystal clear that their motives in silencing me is low and dirty.

here we had a case of a user who acted recklessly and nobody was willing to confront him and warn him on numerous issues. the reason why the admins are silent can be numerous i will not speculate about their inaction.

The following 4 thinks, is what this new user has done to trigger my warnings:

1. on using a name of a known funny person in our community, without saying he is not that person. and i warned him.

2. putting up news items without proper sources against policy, and i warned him not to do it.

3. evasively posting images which the free licensing was in question, no attribution on the copy rights what source it is. i was the only user who cared to warn him on his talk page and questioned the user to not break universal wikipedia policy.

4.and he has written childish gossip against a known editor of a Yiddish newspaper. that he pickpockets, and sexually abuses his secretary's...

While this admin was silent, and latter came in to say that he saw everything, i struggled with this user for days not to act like this and the user was constantly deleting my warnings as to say get lost, so in a way i was forced to act like admin without admin tools since no sysop is active. and this particular sysop was silent as well. when i saw the user erasing the warnings to hide his track record, i reverted it since this is clear vandalism to undo warnings from talk pages in order to hide your previous history and keep on doing this further and further as he did while erasing the warnings.

Now this admin has agreed that the other user has also done 3rr, and he never ever blocked him, and only warned him about 2 of the issues, after i was blocked to make it sound good and mask his sockpupetry.

Keep in mind that this admin always is silent and if he would have acted i would have not have to warn nor to revert even one time.

The conclusion why he is inactivate and always suddenly jumps up when there is an opportunity to block me, (look his writings against me in the above posts) is a big question on his whole motive in wikipedia. the only conclusion is that he is the other user whom i reverted.

Now a check user wont prove that, because he has said numerous times that he works with computer networks all day, and knows how to change computer ip whenever he writes with his name shmaltz (and 2 checkuser have proved this, Thai he never writes with the same ip address, although it can mean that he uses dial up which is ludicrous since he works with networks by his own admission) so the only way to expose his sockpuptry is by this exemple why and how he blocked me before a warning suddenly, against normal sysop procedure to only block before a warning while in an edit war, here he blocked me after the edit war when everything was over...

Ok now have to run but i will provide links and more reasoning latter in the day here. thanks--יודל 13:39, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The issue at hand was that that particular user was editing his own talk page, not an article and was therefore not a vandal, while User:יודל kept reverting that users talk page to what he wanted the page should say. Which is exactly the reason that 3RR exists, to avoid edit wars, and that was the reason he was blocked, to unblock a user that clearly violated 3RR is quite irresponsible. On a side note, he has been involved in too many disruptive editing, and has been gaming the system for a long time now. He does whatever he wants just making sure that it is not a violating a policy but still very disruptive. On the english wikipedia he would have been blocked a long time ago. I don't think he should be blcoked now, but to just unblock someone who has violated 3RR just because he asked for help, without contacting the one that blocked him, or anybody else on that project is very irresponsible, as it gives way for more of the same to happen.--Shmaltz 16:30, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
SHMALTS stop ignoring the issues please answer yidels words, is it true or not?! You know full well that your vendetta against yidel isn't new, Danny is keeping you guys under his watchful eye for a long time now. Please act like an adult and answer yidels account. is it true or not?--71.249.39.42 16:47, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To user:71.249.39.42 is what true? that he violated 3RR? That he is the most disruptive editor on the yiddish wikipedia? While he might or might not have valid points they don't take away the fact that he is a disruptive editor, and at the moment the only disruptive editor on the yiddish wikipedia, by unblocking him because of the - maybe valid - arguments he made he has gamed the system and the stewards.--Shmaltz 16:53, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
To User:71.249.39.42 arn't you User:יודל?--Shmaltz 16:58, 7 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you Shamalts for exposing yourself. You haven't answered yidel only tried to change the subject. The issue here isnt if my IP Adress is yidel or whoever. The issue is how you don't want to answer yidels acount why he was forced to revert more then 3 times. Now everybody understands why you were blocked out from the english wikipedia, because you cannot hide your vandalism attitude that wikopedia is a community, that communicate with each other, Now it is crystal clear why you keep on blocking yidel out from the yiddish wikipedia time and time again with sock puppet votes and made up rules. Shamltz keep on talking and talking that yidel is a vandal and disruptive and everything. But please only don't dear to address yidels valid explanation on the account what exactly occurred why he was forced to revert the talk page. Just keep on repeating yourself that yidel is a vandal and ignoring his answer a million and one times until everybody will be convinced that you are full of it...--71.249.39.42 00:00, 8 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just for the record I have got the proof that 71.249.39.42 is Yidel, I will furnish upon request.--Shmaltz 02:00, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
First of all nobody can say what ip is what user in wikimedia, and again the issue is not if yidels ip is known to you or not the issue is have you abused your sysop power or not and this you dont want to discuss. only to divert the subject on what ip is known to you or not.--יודל 02:15, 14 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Qestionable edits by admin[edit]

Hi, i would like to ask to review the actions and contributions of user:Jayjg he frequently makes controversial edits which is his right but then deals with resulting edit wars in a disruptive and abusive manner. If his controversial edits get reverted he will attempt to harass editors who reverting. He treats his admin priviliges as if they meant he is above every and any rule or policy. He will deal with any opposing POV with brute force, auto reverting, blocking instead of discussion. He violates the following guide on adminship:

"Adminship is not diplomatic immunity Every administrator must keep in mind that admins are servants of Wikipedia as a whole. This means that all policies apply to admins just as they do to any user. Admins can be blocked, stripped of admin powers, or banned. Admins must follow all Wikipedia policies, such as the three-revert rule, and uphold consensus and a neutral point of view." I ask you to keep a close eye on him and prevent any future abuse and edit warring. Especially abusive edit warring using administrative tools provided to him for fighting vandals, not POV battles.

Yiddish wikipedia[edit]

Jewboy, etc. continues to disturb in our wikipedia. (look for exemple here and here here). please take off his both sysop power and trust someone to take care of him. Jiddisch 08:10, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This guy is doing nothing just trying to block me out from wikipedia. He was Sysop and Bureaucrat and made himself other name to crown himself twice sysop. There is no point in answering his baseless accusations. since he doesnt accuse me of doing something wrong just for the reason i have more then one name is not enough to shut me out. As long i don't use it as a sock-puppet to buy consensus i may have a million names. The reason i must have more then one name is twofold. 1) my privacy gets sacrificed almost daily by those guys. 2) I am the only one writing daily in the yiddish wikipedia, so if only one name appears we play into their argument that the yiddish wikipedia is Yidl's Blog. And no this is thank god already a full fledged encyclopedia with over 3100 articles, thanks almost exclusively to me myself> so let the train fly by full force and the dogs bark how much they want. as long i have done nothing wrong i will continue to build up the Yiddish wikipedia daily.--יודל 11:07, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Danny I don't understand why nothing has been done about this until now, this has gone way too far now, and with doing nothing he just gets worst and worst, enough users have complained that something should be done about this now. Writing here is our last resort and the only place where we hope to find help, please don't dissapoint us. See here if you need to know more--Shmaltz 08:15, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am doing nothing wrong. Shamlts please stop blocking me. and start writing something, your last edit to yiddish wikipedia was over a year now.--יודל 11:02, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am not even a user on Wikipedia for a year look at March 28, in any event doing nothing wrong pointing to written rules, doesn't make you non disruptive which in itself breaks the very principal that Wikipedia stands for. And you are very disruptive, to a point that the only solution at the moment is to block you.--Shmaltz 20:34, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Who is Disruptive? Somebody who hijacks the wikipedia and tries to block out others. Now who has done this? Not Yidel. Only Shamltz! who doesn't bother to write one single edit other then; yidel is bad, yidel is the devil, all day and all night. Why don't you see this has brought you nowhere? Don't you get sick of your own tiring tirades over and over again? Don't you see how many messages you left already on this page alone? Why don't you make a human assessment that until you don't show where and what Yidel is disruptive you are eating your own saliva? Good for you. this is free country. If complaining about Yidel all day long gives you the joy so be it. But please give us one simple anecdote what Yidel has done wrong?--71.247.82.197 22:34, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Repeating an old invalid argument does NOT make it valid, nor does counter accusing me in being diruptive make you non disruptive. There has been enough evidence.--Shmaltz 22:48, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
What does the evidence say? Lets see: Only one guy has blocked the other. who was it? Yidel or Shmaltz?--71.247.82.197 22:56, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
How in the world is blocking a disruptive user disruptive and/or abusive?--Shmaltz 22:58, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
because there is no definition of a disruptive only somebody who blocks others. and that fits only one person here. whom?--71.247.82.197 23:18, 4 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

יודל (with his other names) force his power on us. his contribution is not useful in the wikipedia, he is only disturb to building the wikipedia. for exemple here even we explain to him that in all dictionaries is written זויג חיה like here (and in other dictionaries) he insist to move it to "זויג בעל חיה". also in the germmany wikipedia is writen זויג חיה. look at his user page you can see there only discussions, please trust some one to take care. also here is he insist to put a wikilink who moves to the same article.Jiddisch 06:35, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Although Yiddish originates from German, it is not entirely German, because through generations it was modified to pick up Hebrew or English terms on the more contemporary and modern words, like in this case where the science was later and newer language. בעלי חיים is therefore like in Hebrew all life and living organisms within animal world. and חיה signifies simply wild animals. not humans and and fish Cattle and etc. now he wants it called his way we can leave it as a redirect but the main title should be like most Yiddish speaking call it. And on the second scenario it is indeed 2 separate articles so it is fine to link to it.--71.247.82.197 14:53, 11 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

יודל blocked this articl here to be the one who decide how our wikipedia has to be look. please take his sysop away from him. he destroyed and still destroing our yiddisch wikipedia, please give me or somebudy else the power to take care of him. his perpes his to attak religion people and from the other site he make the wikipedia religious becouse to get atantion from religions. we can't more suffer. the problem is, there is no noun religion people that speak yiddish. we take about fact. all the yiddish students dont want to visit us becous him. a lot of our mitgliders build a new wikipedia here. Translation[edit]

Thank you for translating my statement. Gracias. Danny 16:25, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No problem :-) You may wish to fix the grammar on this sentence in your statement, though: "As a registered user on Wikipedia since early 2002, and helped to shape some of the basic guidelines." —METS501 (talk) 17:01, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I readily confess that I have never been a great fan of you qua admin/bureaucrat/Foundation employee (as against, for instance, qua editor or person; although I have found you generally to be quite genial and surely reasonable, I have been situated more-or-less opposite you on BLP, OFFICE, and fair use issues and have not always admired the sometimes seemingly abrupt fashion in which you have edited with respect to those issues), and, although I was in sympathy with those reasons that you rather loosely alluded to as leading in part to your departure from the Foundation, I was reflexively inclined to oppose your candidacy, and rather strongly at that. I want, though, to offer my compliments, for whatever little they're worth, to you on your raising the issues of fiduciary responsibility and professional board members (the latter is an issue about which I feel quite strongly; I had in mind as a prospective candidate an individual who serves as a member of the board of directors of a corporation that has made some fine contributions to WMF and who is active on the boards of two other charitable organizations, but he hasn't been involved with a WMF project and consequently, of course, is ineligible for candidacy—although it's likely that the community at present wouldn't likely consider any candidate not intimately acquainted with our mechanics, wrong-headed a stance though that might, at least IMHO, be) and for your making the suggestions relative to membership you did in reply to Kelly's question. I and others have noted these issues, of course, from time to time, and they have even been touched on by others running for the Board, but you have raised them in such a fashion as essentially to guarantee that they will be thought about and commented on by the WMF community, and I hope that the resulting discussions will help to bear out the community's views and to determine the extent to which Board candidates agree with/will act in consideration of those views and that the releveant debates will continue prominently and intelligently whether or not you are ultimately elected. Cheers, Joe 20:51, 16 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I believe you were right to publicly raise the concerns you did about the actions/behavior of the other members of the board in response to a related question on your candidate question page. Duty/job-related activities by board members should be completely transparent and open to discussion by community members. Something may not be right with some members of the board or the way the board operates, and we need to know about it. Cla68 00:01, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questions for the Wikipedia Signpost[edit]

Hi! My name is Ral315, and I'm the editor-in-chief of the Wikipedia Signpost, a weekly newspaper on the English Wikipedia. I'm sending out an optional questionnaire that I hope you'll respond to. These questions will be published in next week's issue, and hopefully translated into many languages and copied to the Meta-Wiki prior to the election. (So, if you speak multiple languages, it'd be fantastic, though certainly not required, if you'd be willing to translate your answers into any languages you speak fluently.)

There's no word limit on any of these questions, but I suggest that brevity (maybe about 300-400 words per answer) is best. If at all possible, answers should be submitted by 16:00 UTC on Monday, June 25 (though late responses will also be accepted).

I'm posting these to your talk pages because they don't really fit well on question pages (since many will repeat questions you've already answered). You can reply to me by e-mail, or at my English Wikipedia, English Wikinews or Meta talk pages.

Thanks again for answering these, and good luck in the elections.

Sincerely, Ral315

Emergency evacuation[edit]

As a sysop of the Russian section of the Wikisource and I was commanded in an ultimative form by Alex Spade from the Wikimedia Fondation to remove from the project more than thousand pages in connection with the changes of the copyright law of the Russian Federation (that will begin to act from the 1st of January 2008). All the authors less than life+70, who where PD by the Russian law, will be copyrighted again and have to be removed from the Wikisource. But in the cases with Daniil Kharms and Osip Mandelstam or some others killed by Soviet regime it is even much harder: after-death rehabilitation in the prisons and camps of GULAG+70. It means that works by Mandelstam will be PD (Public Domain) again only (1986+70) from the 1st of January 2057, and works by Kharms from the 1st of January 2027! The polycy of Wikimedia Fondation doesn't allow to keep these works in their projects. This is unfair because there are no relatives of many authors left, and their royalties will be inherited now by the state who killed them. I do not understand why the Wikimedia Fondation and Jimbo support this unfair law. I wrote to them (to Danny Wool and Alex Spade) but received no response. So, I am trying to safe these texts, which I worked hard on, moving them from Russian and English sections of Wikisourse into an independent site. Dmitrismirnov 11:56, 17 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
