My Domain Blocked By Wikipedia[edit]

Hi, I checked my website (pmagreement.in) very carefully and I'm sure that it doesn't violate the Community Standards. Could you please reconsider my website? pmagreement.in please team wikipedia review it again and unblock it able to share with my fans. Regard's, pmagreement.in —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Arjunthakurseo (talk)

Arjunthakurseo, no. We are entirely uninterested in helping you share your website with your fans, and it was spammed by a number of sockpuppets. Not going to happen. GeneralNotability (talk) 12:30, 25 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi. After one month block expired, QuestFour is returned and continued to edit warring against Blueberry72. There is currently a discussion at User talk:Blueberry72. The thread is "‎Gratuitous WP:HOUNDING". Thoughts? 17:09, 30 September 2020 (UTC)Reply

If the two have an intractable dispute, it needs to go to w:en:ANI. If QuestFour is editing while logged-out, then they'll get an indefinite block per the most recent sockpuppetry case, but nobody's mentioned socking yet. GeneralNotability (talk) 19:46, 30 September 2020 (UTC)Reply
Unnamed anon filed the report involving QuestFour at ANEW. Take a look. 06:54, 4 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

after a challenge? Special:AbuseFilter/72[edit]

If you are trulylooking to pick apart and rebuild an ugly filter, the regex in this one just screams for someone's patient attention.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:22, 6 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Billinghurst, wow, that's something. I'll take a crack at it. GeneralNotability (talk) 12:45, 6 October 2020 (UTC)Reply
billinghurst, speaking of, I've been working on a tool you might find interesting - w:en:User:GeneralNotability/edit-filter-hit-analyzer.js. It's fairly crude right now, but on an AbuseLog page it will show a breakdown of the filter's rules and the variables each rule uses, and for regexes it will add a link to regex101 which prefills the regex and the text. I don't plan on writing a full parser for edit filter rules, so there are lots of things it won't do, but it's a decent debugging tool.
/200 is one where I do some regex jiggerypokery, though the regex are far enough down to not be priority matches, and it is incremental change.  — billinghurst sDrewth 13:25, 6 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Wondering whether we would be better to do something like match := match1 + "|" + match2 + "|" + match3+ "|" + match4+ "|" + match5 + "|" + match6; and break the megamatch down to simpler components to edit. Presuming that it won't kill the condition count.  — billinghurst sDrewth 01:52, 31 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

billinghurst, that sounds like a good idea, I might give that a try. Sorry for the late reply - not ignoring you, just had a lot going on lately and haven't had the time to do much in the meta area. GeneralNotability (talk) 03:32, 11 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
Billinghurst, any objection to removing the CBD matches from 72? They should already be picked up by 240 (heh, it's like 420 but 240...). GeneralNotability (talk) 03:46, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
If your analysis shows the value, then no issue. They are somewhat different, but we do wish to minimise multiple reports of the same abuse.  — billinghurst sDrewth 10:11, 10 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello General Notability. Mariahicky has been blocked in September 2011, but she is returned to edit after eight years, a message to Anna Frodesiak in Maria's talk page. Although Anna retired in last year April, but Maria wishes Anna for unblock herself. I'm afraid she would repeat the same genre warring. 09:25, 16 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

p.s. I can't edit in English Wikipedia because of my Wikipedia IP has been blocked within IP range. So I posted to Meta user talk page instead.

Hey General. Can you check on SPI? "Blaque Lady United" has been confirmed as a sock but not blocked yet. 09:48, 4 March 2021 (UTC)Reply
Sorry for the delay, Blaque Lady United appears to have been blocked. GeneralNotability (talk) 03:01, 6 March 2021 (UTC)Reply

The Editing team has scheduled a major update to mw:Extension:DiscussionTools (the new Reply tool) for next week's deployment train. Since you invoke the feature from a script (I do, too), you're probably going to see that update next week, before it's officially released in the mw:Beta Feature system. The new update will use a similar system for starting a ==New discussion==. As before, full-page wikitext editing will not be affected. There is more information on the project page at mw:Talk pages project/New discussion.

If you encounter problems next week, please ping me or leave a note on the talk page for the project. Thanks, Whatamidoing (WMF) (talk) 19:55, 12 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Congratulations, Dear Administrator![edit]

Deutsch | English | español | français | italiano | 한국어 | Nederlands | português | Türkçe | русский | العربية | Tiếng Việt | edit

Congratulations, GeneralNotability! You now have the rights of an administrator on Meta-Wiki. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, and Meta:Requests for deletion, but also Talk:Spam blacklist and Talk:Interwiki map), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care. Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-adminconnect. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading although it doesn't always completely apply here at Meta. Please also check or add your entry to Meta:Administrators#List of administrators and the Template:List of administrators. You're also allowed to subscribe the metawiki admins private mailing list. Again, congratulations and welcome to the team. Matiia (talk) 16:23, 27 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

blacklisting redirects helps coibot[edit]

Hi. Happy NYE. In an COIBot report like User:COIBot/XWiki/samedayloans365.org you will see that COIBot is identifying a redirect target. It is important that we also blacklist the redirect target as the COIBot will be alert to new sites that use this redirect and automatically flag these for review.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:26, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

Ah, thanks Billinghurst, I don't think I've ever come across a redirect before when doing blacklisting. I'll keep an eye out for that in the future. By the way - how did you make COIBot do a "quick-created report"? GeneralNotability (talk) 00:31, 31 December 2021 (UTC)Reply

How we will see unregistered users[edit]

You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.

When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.

Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.

If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.

We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.

Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

I need help[edit]

Can someone please file an arbitration enforcement request for Thrakkx on Wikipedia, for violating biographies of living persons, especially for civility in infoboxes.

Last December 2021, Thrakkx is removing nationality parameter from infobox basketball biography without consensus, and then adding birth year for short description without source as a violation of biographies of living persons policy. --2001:4452:465:9200:C52C:F77:C2A:8752 01:33, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Short answer? No. GeneralNotability (talk) 01:34, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Did you see the evidence of Thrakkx's actions from diffs: [1], [2] but I replied to Denniss for removing birth dates without reliable sources. 2001:4452:465:9200:C52C:F77:C2A:8752 01:38, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Your content dispute with another editor does not need to go to Arbitration Enforcement, and I am not going to be your meatpuppet in filing a request. GeneralNotability (talk) 01:39, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
This user has been hounding me for over a month now. Guess now the hounding has transcended the English Wikipedia. Thrakkx (talk) 01:39, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
Sorry, I did not hound you. Because I was seeking an arbitration enforcement from your talk page on Wikipedia has been transcluded here, can please explain why if you removing nationality parameter from infoboxes? 2001:4452:465:9200:C52C:F77:C2A:8752 01:44, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply
This is an inappropriate venue, and I find it odd that you brought it here. Arbitration is one of the final steps in resolving a major conduct dispute that has been ongoing for months and/or years (read WP:A/G). Long before it gets to that step, you need to pursue one of the standard noticeboards, such as WP:BLPN if you believe this is related to a WP:BLP concern. You should also know that your conduct has been brought into question at WP:ANI#Repeat hounding by editor. If I were you, I would consolidate your attention and focus your time and effort there instead. --GoneIn60 (talk) 04:25, 26 January 2022 (UTC)Reply

Notice of review of adminship[edit]

Hello GeneralNotability. In accordance with Meta:Administrators/Removal and because you have made fewer than ten logged administrator actions over the past six months, your adminship is under review at Meta:Administrators/Removal/October 2022. If you would like to retain your adminship, please sign there before October 08, 2022. Kind regards, MF-W 11:56, 1 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Got blocked in error[edit]

I was blocked in error because they thought I was AudiGuy-1204 when I was not them (sharing their IPs but), and I requested UTRS and they didn't seem like they were to unblock me. I gone to the IRC to request and you banned me from the IRC. Why? 00:36, 10 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Notice of review of adminship (October 2023)[edit]

Hello GeneralNotability,

Pursuant to Meta:Administrators/Removal (inactivity) and because you have made fewer than ten (10) logged administrator actions over the past six (6) months, your adminship is under review at Meta:Administrators/Removal (inactivity)/October 2023. If you would like to retain your adminship, please sign there before October 10, 2023.

Kind regards, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 12:28, 3 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

MarcoAurelio, go ahead and remove it - my time is limited enough lately that I don't expect to be able to do much admin work on Meta anytime soon. GeneralNotability (talk) 00:25, 5 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for letting me know, and I hope everything's alright. Since there's no urgency, I can wait before asking at SRP for the rights removal, just in case you'd like to give this another thought :-) Sincerely, —MarcoAurelio (talk) 18:03, 5 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

LTA over MOS edit[edit]

Some unregistered IP editors attempted to edit some articles and them blocked as LTA. Both Ferret and Ponyo reverted the improvements, despite that directing them to the relevant en:WP:MOS guideline should propose we reinstate for changes. 06:55, 15 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Your edits will continue to be reverted on sight. Most of them misapply MOS in the first place, which is how you ended up blocked. You are banned from editing English Wikipedia. If you do not like that your edits are being reverted, stop editing. Ferret (talk) 14:29, 15 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Please stop blocking. If you want to revert as MOS improvement on English Wikipedia, for example, this revert relating to en:Douglas MacArthur over MOS edit, which is acceptable. 22:48, 15 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
Uh, no. You're banned. Your edits will be reverted on sight and your proxies blocked. Period. Find a new hobby. Ferret (talk) 14:47, 16 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
This admin on Wikipedia frequently hounding me while I'm banned. @GeneralNotability: As I explain to you in this policy on Wikipedia: Admins are sustained or serious disruption of Wikipedia through behavior such as incivility or bad faith editing is incompatible with the expectations and responsibilities of administrators, and consistent or egregious poor judgment may result in the removal of administrator tools. 04:43, 17 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
