Community Tech Launches Wikisource Improvement Initiative

[edit]

Hello,

We hope you are all healthy and safe in these difficult times.

The Community Tech team has just launched a new initiative to improve Wikisource. We have created the first project (Improve ebook exports), which came out of the 2020 Community Wishlist Survey. We now invite you to share your feedback on the project talk page. Please let us know what you think of our project analysis; we want to hear from you! Furthermore, we hope that you will participate in the other Wikisource improvement projects, which we’ll address in the future. Thank you in advance and we look forward to reading your feedback on the project talk page!

Wikisource Pagelist Widget - First Iteration Feedback

[edit]

Hello everyone,

I am pleased to announce that Wikisource Pagelist Widget is now available on Beta Wikisource. We need your help in testing the widget and providing feedback.

You can test the widget by editing the following Index page on Beta Wikisource:

https://en.wikisource.beta.wmflabs.org/wiki/Index:War_and_Peace.djvu

There is a new ‘Preview pagelist’ button under the pagelist field. Click it to get a preview, and then click on any page number in the preview to open the widget.

You can also create a fresh Index Page for any other PDF or DjVu from Wikimedia Commons and test it.

We need your feedback on the following questions:

  • What is your general opinion about the Pagelist Widget?
  • Is it obvious how to use the widget? If not, what is difficult to understand?
  • What other changes would you like to suggest in order to improve the widget further?

Please provide your feedback on the Project Talk Page on Meta-Wiki.

P.S. - The widget doesn’t work on Local Uploads in Beta Wikisource as of now (due to phab:T257807).

Regards

Renaming

[edit]

Hey Geonuch, Currently we do not have any Thai-speaking renamer and you also seem to active at renaming request. So why don't you consider nominating yourself for renamer. I am sure you will be a great addition to the team and will be a great help to the Thai community as well. Regards. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 15:56, 19 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

@1997kB: Thanks for your recommendation. I will decide soon. --Geonuch (talk) 01:34, 20 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Your feedback is requested

[edit]

Hello Geonuch, We are conducting a poll of global renamers and stewards regarding some future toolings related to some rename requests. Your feedback is requested at the poll on VRT WIKI. Best regards, — xaosflux Talk 00:18, 17 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

Spam article on thwiki

[edit]

Hey there! I noticed you were on the list of antispam contacts, so I wanted to reach out. I recently completed an investigation into a massive cross-wiki spam operation, which involved a network of accounts and IP proxies publishing hundreds of articles about David Woodard. This also affected the Thai Wikipedia, with the user Swmmng (talk · contribs · CA) publishing an apparently machine-translated version of the article there. The global stewards have already deleted the article from more than 200 Wikipedia projects, and several other projects have also deleted their own articles or opened discussions on deletion. Just wanted to let you know, in case you think this situation might merit article deletion from the Thai Wikipedia. --Grnrchst (talk) 18:25, 2 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

@Grnrchst: Sorry for late reply. I request this article to AfD in Thai Wikipedia and believe the article will be deleted soon. Thanks for your hard work. --Geonuch (talk) 14:40, 6 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
