Movement Charter Drafting Committee Candidacy - additional information[edit]

Dear Itzedubaba,

I am reaching out to you in relation to the Movement Charter Drafting Committee candidacy. The main reason for writing this letter is related to ensuring that your profile will be well presented during the upcoming election and selection process.

Request in short:

  • Please send us information to strategy2030(_AT_)wikimedia.org regarding your “main wiki project” and expertise by naming the project and choosing 3 areas of competency from the respective matrix. We kindly ask you to send this information by October 3, 2021.
  • Add your proposals for “election compass” statements and be prepared to answer a survey with the upvoted statements.

Main wiki[edit]

To ensure diversity of the Movement Charter Drafting Committee, there is a limitation in the election process that a maximum of 2 people from the same wiki project can be elected. As a result, we would kindly ask you to define your one main wiki project by writing to strategy2030(_AT_)wikimedia.org

Expertise[edit]

In some discussions with the community members it has been highlighted that while it is easier to assess the diversity of the candidates, it is more difficult to understand the expertise and competencies they have. As a result, we would kindly ask you to reflect on this and choose up to 3 top competencies that you would bring to the committee from the 14 mentioned in the expertise matrix.

We kindly ask you to send your response to strategy2030@wikimedia.org and we will add it for you. The reason for this is that we are locking the page for translations and trying to avoid any editing conflicts. I hope it makes sense.

Voting compass[edit]

As you might have read on other channels, we are also setting up an election compass for people to navigate 73 candidacies for the committee. It works like this: You will see statements that we have asked the candidates to position themselves to (support, neutral, oppose; and some lines of reasoning). The tool asks you to position yourself to these statements. At the end, you will see who of the candidates is closest to you.

This will help to highlight your positioning regarding the key matters to be tackled in the Movement Charter and support people in making an informed decision in the election and selection process. You can consult and add your own thoughts on the statement collection page. If you want to understand what the tool will look like, see the prototype on Toolforge.

There is no action needed from you know, but we will come back to you with a survey in about 10 days time and would kindly ask you to fill it to be well presented in this compass. We truly believe that it is a good way to support people in making sense of all the nominations and hope you see it as an interesting and beneficial approach.

Closing and translating candidate statements[edit]

We are closing the candidate page on meta to manage the translations. As a result, no further edits to your statements can be made.

Thank you for your time and kind attention! --KVaidla (WMF) (talk) 17:09, 27 September 2021 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Pilot Enrollment: Equity Landscape Metrics & Dashboard[edit]

Hi @Itzedubaba:

Thank you for your interest in piloting the Wikimedia Movement Data Landscape dashboard and metrics. Through this small pilot we will be completing pre-beta testing of these new metrics and tool functions. We intend to gather feedback from community stakeholders on the data elements and dashboard functions for improvements before launching an initial public dashboard. In order to proceed, we must ensure that all pilot participants meet each of the eligibility requirements:

  1. Have an applicable use case during the pilot period (February - March 2022),
  2. Commit to engage during the pilot period, and
  3. Agree to sign a data non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for early data access.

If you meet these requirements, you are now invited to next steps for enrolling in the pilot. In order to help us align virtual sessions with your use case interests and to send you the required NDA, we need you to complete a google survey to share your contact details. Use of the data collected by this survey form will be governed by our published privacy statement. Please complete the survey at your earliest convenience, and before the end of day January 23, 2022 to ensure needed turn-around time for the pilot’s start in February. Please also note that we will not be able to associate contact information shared via the google survey with your username we are communicating through here, so we will not be able to know if you have signed up and will switch to contacting pilot participants via the email they share in that survey submission. Thus there will not be further reminders beyond a note at the start of the meta consultation period in February. If you run into any challenges, please message us back, here on your talk page, so that we might assist you. Once again, we thank you for your time and participation. -- NaRay (WMF) (talk) 23:12, 11 January 2022 (UTC)Reply[reply]
