Banners - Israel
The banners were only showing to logged in users and was weighted very heavily (3:1) towards the WLM banner. I have switched off the translator signup banner however for the time being in Israel. Jseddon (WMF) (talk) 10:05, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
When we met in Milan and I was talking about en:Janusz Korczak. I worked with the Swiss Janusz Korczak Association (http://www.korczak.ch/) for my school newspaper projects, and I will try to use their help with my new project. Best regards ! WikiReaders for Schools proposal
I've updated my proposal to first do a pilot. Please review again if you have time. http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Grants_talk:Aislinn_Dewey/Distribute_WikiReaders_to_Schools
As you know, the Grant Advisory Committee (GAC) has a standard of participation commitment. It appears you have not made any contributions to grant proposal discussions in the past three months. If you're no longer able to devote time to helping with grant prpoposal evaluation, we understand -- just let us know, please; if you are still interested, please do engage with some of the open grant proposals in the coming two weeks. If you don't, your GAC membership will automatically expire.

היי איציק, ראיתי שבהודעה Special:CentralNoticeBanners/edit/WMIL_Wikidictionary_Course_Banner הופיע קוד css שמוסיף תמונה עם http://...
FDC Election Question
Given the short time frame before the election starts I just wanted to let you know that a question was asked of all FDC candidates on the Candidate question page. If you want to respond you can do so by editing that section and adding your response after the = sign next to your name. The question section will remain open (both for questions and responses) throughout the election and is linked from the voting interface so that voters can read it if they wish.
Thanks again for choosing to run and for your willingness to serve the community. As always please let me or any member of the committee know if you have questions throughout the process. Jalexander--WMF 06:25, 2 May 2015 (UTC)
Dear Itzik, I've emailed you.
Need help with creating central notice?
Hi, could you help us create a central notice wizard for Wiki Loves Food contest that we are running in India? We need the campaign to run till June 15, 23:59 IST in all Wikimedia projects and languages in India. I am here in WMCON and can provide more details in person. Thanks.--Ravi (talk) 10:09, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
How can we improve Wikimedia grants to support you better?
Hi! The Wikimedia Foundation would like your input on how we can reimagine Wikimedia Foundation grants to better support people and ideas in your Wikimedia project.
After reading the Reimagining WMF grants idea, we ask you to complete this survey to help us improve the idea and learn more about your experience. When you complete the survey, you can enter to win one of five Wikimedia globe sweatshirts!
In addition to taking the the survey, you are welcome to participate in these ways:
- Respond to questions on the discussion page of the idea.
- Join a small group conversation.
- Learn more about this consultation.
This survey is in English, but feedback on the discussion page is welcome in any language.
By the way your edits would be welcome on this page, which is the best one we have on Wikimania financials (thanks to Iolanda). --Nemo 07:40, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
- I wasn't familiar with this page, thank you for sharing Nemo. But I don't think we really need to trust bid numbers. They were always much more different then actual. Adding the fact that there is now more bids process for Wikimania is also making this comparative no so actual. --Itzike (talk) 08:05, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
- Well, the comparative is the best assembled form of what we have, not of what we don't have. :) There are still only 2 Wikimanias out of 11 with semi-complete financial statements and only 1 ever (yours) is complete. --Nemo 15:46, 24 August 2015 (UTC)
Last call for WMF grants feedback!
Hi, this is a reminder that the consultation about Reimagining WMF grants is closing on 8 September (0:00 UTC). We encourage you to complete the survey now, if you haven't yet done so, so that we can include your ideas.
I've recently launched an Inspire Campaign to encourage new ideas focusing on content review and curation in Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia volunteers collaboratively manage vast repositories of knowledge, and we’re looking for your ideas about how to manage that knowledge to make it more meaningful and accessible. We invite you to participate and submit ideas, so please get involved today! The campaign runs until March 28th.
All proposals are welcome - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is welcome - your skills and experience can help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign to improve review and curation tasks so that we can make our content more meaningful and accessible! I JethroBT (WMF) 05:39, 29 February 2016 (UTC)
Request for Input - New Central Notice request process
Hello fellow CN admin!
Back in February I emailed the CN-admin list regarding part of my role to look into the Central Notice process and see where we could make improvements including: the campaign process; its functionality or lack thereof; and fundamentally the documentation that supports it. You can see many of the issues that I identified at CentralNotice/Process_Review. If there is anything additional that you feel has been left out then please feel free to leave any comments on the talk page.
My first task is to improve the requesting of campaigns by communities and affiliates. I am looking to set up a more formal request process, similar to those used in many projects. The aim is to: increase the transparency of Central Notice; improve the support provided to affiliates (including making such support more consistent); to provide a forum for community input into campaigns.
I have been working on a very rough strawman version of the process and I would be interested in hearing you comments about what such a process should involve and what you think it would require. Please feel free to leave such comments at the process talk page section. I would like to have a working page in place by the end of May. This would not need to be a final version. The process can be improved upon over time as we learn about how well it works.
I encourage you to:
- Review the strawman request page and request template and make changes as you feel necessary
- Leave comments
- Join the centralnotice-admins mailing list
- Feel free to contact me to discuss this further via: my talk page, jseddonwikimedia.org or on IRC (Nick: Seddon)
Through June, we’re organizing an Inspire Campaign to encourage and support new ideas focusing on addressing harassment toward Wikimedia contributors. The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.
Proposals in any language are welcome during the campaign - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is appreciated, and collaboration is encouraged - your skills and experience may help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign so that we can work together to develop ideas around this important and difficult issue. With thanks,
Hi. I see that Special:CentralNoticeBanners/edit/WMILGLAM2018Scholarships lacks an "Please help translate to your language" link to where volunteers can translate the banner. There are being complains at some major wikis (eswiki and fawiki as far as I can see) about the banner being displayed in English and not being able to translate it. If you could please fix this I'd appreciate it. I think Seddon can help if in doubt. Thanks! —MarcoAurelio (talk) 11:31, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
- I appreciate that the banner is only displayed in English given it's in English only.
- Remember to monitor the impact of the banner being displayed: 18 days and up to 5 impressions per domain and browser means that I can potentially be displayed the banner 3*5*800 times (with 3 browsers and 800 wikis), or every single time I visit a Wikimedia project for 18 days. A simple way to check the impact is to look at the destination page's views. When they plummet, it means the interest has been exhausted and the campaign can be stopped or trimmed. --Nemo 06:40, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
- MarcoAurelio Sorry that I didn't see this message earlier. I replied your email. Any guidance how to do it will be welcome.
- Nemo, as we don't have the option to also control the impressions per browser, every banner which is running right now has the same problem as the one you described. This banner has a very low impression ratio, only 5 times for all the duration of the campaign. This is less than any other banner which I saw, such as Wikimania and other. --Itzike (talk) 12:37, 14 April 2018 (UTC)
Thank you for helping to create the Wikimedia 2030 Movement Strategy Recommendations
|Thank you very much for everything you did to help create the Wikimedia 2030 Movement Strategy Recommendations! I am especially grateful for the work you did in the Resource Allocation working group early on and all the attention and interest you brought to the process. --Nicole Ebber (WMDE) (talk) 09:55, 25 June 2020 (UTC)|
Discussion about CentralNotice Adminship inactivity and membership
Hello Itzike. There's an ongoing discussion happening on Meta:Babel that proposes changes to existing Meta:Central notice administrators practices. In particular: membership duration and inactivity. As a current volunteer central notice administrator, your participation in the discussion would be appreciated. Thank you, --MarcoAurelio (via MassMessage) (talk) 10:45, 21 October 2021 (UTC)
We need your feedback on a tool from the Wikimedia Summit
Hi! I'm contacting you as one of the participants in the Wikimedia Summit 2022, to kindly ask for your feedback through a 5-10 minute survey to evaluate 'Baserow' (note: the survey is on a Google form).
Baserow was tool through which participants in the Summit co-created a database of Movement Strategy activities. We hope to learn from you how useful it may be to keep using it in the future to help document and connect on Movement Strategy work.
