Wikimedia diversity - What happened at the conference and how to follow up[edit]
Hello Jetam2,
We are messaging you now because you signed up as an ambassador for Wikimedia Diversity Conference 2017. We are sharing this message far and wide, so apologies in advance if you are receiving this message twice.
During the conference, we dedicated a full afternoon to discussing the strategic direction and what it means for the work on diversity in the Wikimedia movement. Compiling the outcomes of those conversations, we summarized the key problems and solutions identified, and we created a summary statement. But the conversation is far from over! We still need to hear from diversity ambassadors: (1) what does working for diversity mean at your local context?; (2) what are the needs that should be addressed; (3) what resources are relevant for these identified needs?
We know that diversity gains meaning in context, and this is why we need to hear every voice. Please take a few minutes to go over to the diversity conversation page and add your comments.
If you’d like to stay in touch, and share your experience working for diversity with others, add your profile on our group here.
Thank you and see you on the wiki,
Sara (talk)

Translation request[edit]
Hello, I understand you speak the Slovak language. I was wondering if you can translate "Village in China", "Commune in Morocco", and "village in Indonesia". It is for updating Wikidata. Thanks in advance. --Artix Kreiger (Message Wall) 02:28, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- Hello. I do, yes. "Village" as in something that has autonomy (municipality) or something that is just a settlement?--Jetam2 (talk) 07:33, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- oh, in english, village is usually a municipality that has autonomy, but smaller than city. I was looking around to see if Slovak has a corresponding word and I think it would be best to compare sk:Modra and sk:Most pri Bratislave as sk:Mesto (Slovensko) and sk:Obec (slovenská správna jednotka). However, I understand other languages don't really have a distinction so, up to you. Thanks. --Artix Kreiger (Message Wall) 22:57, 5 March 2018 (UTC)
- Well, "Obec" means a municipality. In Slovak law it could be either a city or a village. Municipalities ("obec") can be granted a city charter, thus going from (just) an "obec" (informally "dedina") to a "mesto". In informal language "obec" is used to talk about a village-style settlement as opposed to a "mesto" which is used for a city/town-style settlement. Or in other words: rural settlements are informally called a "dedina", all municipalities are "obec" and some of them (the urban ones) are "mesto". Since village as a style of settlement is called "dedina" then "village in China" would be "Dedina v Číne". "Commune", I think is a synonym for "municipality" so it should be "Obec v Maroku" and "Village in Indonesia" should then be "Dedina v Indonézii" if it is a village-style settlement. I hope it made things clearer rather than less clear.--Jetam2 (talk) 19:19, 7 March 2018 (UTC)

[Wikipedia & Education User Group] Updates: November 2018[edit]
Greetings,
Integrating Wikimedia with education is a powerful strategy for the outreach of Wikimedia projects. Realising this concept, a group of leaders promoted this and formed the Wikipedia Education Collaborative. After some time, this evolved to become a user group, officially recognised by the Affiliations Committee in June 2018. The user group had its first board elections earlier in September. In the process to formalise activities and give a shape the user group for long-term sustainability, we are now revamping our processes. Thanks for supporting us during incubation stages, we are now inviting you to formally join the user group by following the instructions on the members' page. Being a member will allow you to be a part of this wonderful collaboration and also do interesting stuff.
Kind regards
On behalf of Wikipedia and Education UG, MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 11:44, 10 November 2018 (UTC)
Wrong place ?[edit]
Hi,
I saw your edit on Wikisource Community User Group/ASBS/2019 but I'm guessing you are at the wrong place, this page was only for people of the Wikisource Community User Group to confirm that they voted and the vote was already closed for them.
Cheers, VIGNERON * discut. 18:16, 31 May 2019 (UTC)

Queering Wikipedia 2021 User Group Working Days: May 14-16[edit]
The Wikimedia LGBTQ+ User Group is holding online working days in May. If you’re an active Wikimedian, editing on LGBTQ+ issues or if you identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community, come help us set goals, develop our organisation and structures, consider how to respond to issues faced by Queer editors, and plan for the next 12 months.
We will be meeting online for 3 half-days, 14–16 May at 1400–1730 UTC. While our working language is English, we are looking to accommodate users who would prefer to participate in other languages, including translation facilities.
More information, and registration details, at QW2021.--Wikimedia LGBT+ User Group 15:44, 24 April 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for participation in Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2022![edit]
Dear participant!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for participating in Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2022! We are grateful for your willingness to share free knowledge about the people and culture of Ukraine when it is needed the most.
As promised, the organizers want to appreciate your contribution by awarding you a certificate of participation. Please wait for further notifications from me on that issue.
What comes to prizes: because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, there could be delays in shipping, however, we will definitely get back soon with more information on that.
Take care and stay safe.-- ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 09:18, 4 April 2022 (UTC)

We need your feedback on a tool from the Wikimedia Summit[edit]
Hi! I'm contacting you as one of the participants in the Wikimedia Summit 2022, to kindly ask for your feedback through a 5-10 minute survey to evaluate 'Baserow' (note: the survey is on a Google form).
Baserow was a tool through which participants in the Summit co-created a database of Movement Strategy activities. We hope to learn from you how useful it may be to keep using it in the future to help document and connect on Movement Strategy work.
You are welcome and encouraged to fill out the survey in any language. Your feedback would be very appreciated --Abbad (WMF) (talk) 14:53, 16 February 2023 (UTC).

I would like to invite you to participate once again in this writing challenge! We have revised the suggested articles and announced new prizes for contestants to motivate fruitful contributions from participants. I hope to see you on board soon!
You received this message because you participated either in 2021 or 2022 edition of Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month.ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 07:47, 2 March 2023 (UTC)
