Related gadget, and UI suggestion[edit]

This is neat! Thoughts: (1) There's a related gadget that I use, which you may be interested in (if not already seen), and perhaps want to link here or in the tool itself: w:MediaWiki:Gadget-ShowMessageNames.js - this adds a link into the site-sidebar's "Tools" box, which provides fast access to the uselang=qqx URL of the same page. (or as the Preference page describes it: "Add a toolbox link to reload the current page with the system message names exposed")

(2) whilst testing, on my first attempt I didn't fill in a value for the "Language code" parameter, as I assumed the placeholder of "en" would work. It led to an error page (actual URL). I suggest either making the placeholder work (if easy), or changing the placeholder text to "e.g. en", or perhaps adding "content required" after the existing label (or similar).

Thanks for helping to make it easier to find things! Quiddity (talk) 03:56, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Quiddity: 1) Thanks, that looks interesting. Is there more information about this gadget somewhere? (Specifically, I’m not sure if the GLOBAL GADGET FILE means its available on other wikis or it’s “global” only on enwiki; I didn’t find it on Wikidata, at least.) 2) I’ve made both inputs required now, your browser should show you a (more or less) helpful message if you leave them out. --Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 18:14, 24 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Lucas Werkmeister: 1) I'm also not sure what that means, though it appears to be the default header that is required per w:en:Wikipedia:Gadget#Header. I do import it via my global.js, and perhaps that potential-scenario for gadgets is what is meant? 2) Thanks! Quiddity (talk) 05:03, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
@Quiddity 1) Thanks, I’ve added something to the index page :) Lucas Werkmeister (talk) 20:10, 26 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
