Comments on the Collaborative article[edit]

Thank you, Maria, for sharing the Education Collaborative's story in the L&E newsletter. :) It's a great article about a great group. :)

Notes about my edits:

  1. First paragraph. It says that "Wikipedia Education Program had its first inception in 2010." Wikimedians were doing programmatic outreach in education long before that. Serbia, for example, began doing this work in 2006. I was going to write instead that it "was founded in 2010," but the focus of the article is the Wikipedia Education Collaborative, not the Wikipedia Education Program. So, rather than getting lost in the weeds, I recommend omitting the date altogether.
  2. First paragraph. It links to the Wikipedia Education Program's History page. Maybe a better link would be our About page or our Overview page.
  3. Third paragraph. It states that "the Wikipedia Education Collaborative emerged." That suggests a more random origin than is the case. This group was thoughtfully and deliberately convened by the Global Education team at the WMF after almost two years of community consultation and planning. So, I changed the phrasing to "the idea of a Wikipedia Education Collaborative emerged."
  4. Images. I've linked the Wikipedia Education Program presentation at Wikimania in the more info section and added the more recent group photo to the gallery.

Thanks again, Maria, for sharing information about the Collaborative in the newsletter. I'm looking forward to seeing it published. :) Anna Koval (WMF) (talk) 12:32, 20 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
