Nontranslator on the translation page[edit]

Hi, MF-Warburg!
I don't know whome to ask about this.
What can be done with the users that don't add any translated text on the translation page, but they do appear on the history of the particular "translated" page?
Example is here. This is history of the page "Single User Login finalisation announcement/Personal announcement/hr" [1].
An user [2] initiated the page, but he translated no text. He just copied the original text in English copied on the translated page (instead of Croatian). The summary ("Pozdrav" = hello) is the only thing in Croatian. Two months gone - not a single line of translation.
I think it is not fair that such users are getting credits for such "translations".
Such fake translators appear together with users that really translated the text = that truthly made effort, unlike the initiator that just copy-pasted English text.
I find such copypasting of English text on translation pages as a kind of spamming and that such behaviour must be discouraged.
I was ready to translate that page this very night, but appearing together on the history with the non-translator really annoys me, so I gave up.
Can that page [3] be deleted? Bye, Kubura (talk) 02:58, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

(talk page stalker) The user did nothing wrong. He did not copy the English version. He simply didn't complete the translation. Please do so if you can. (BTW, this is why we have 'in progress' - 'proofreading' - 'ready' - 'published') PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:11, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, PiRSquared17.
One thing is to make uncomplete translation, but there he did not translate a single line. Neither a single line.
Imagine this scenario: someone posts around the English original text on various translationpages (announcement/de, announcement/fi, announcement/fr, announcement/...), but actually no translation. That way that someone can easily get 1000 edits on Meta, without effort, without doing anything smart. And at the same time, that someone gets the credits for the "translation". And later he can require various functions on Meta, saying "I have over 1000 edits, I translated 1000 pages" - but actually he did nothing. And if another user that considers his ("translator's") candidacy does not dig deeper, but just superficially looks at his contributions, he might bite the bait. Kubura (talk) 03:20, 5 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Presently I do not see anything that needs to be done here. If a user however excessively only creates translations which are in reality no translations, that should probably be looked into (whether he has problems with the translation software, or is just doing nonsense). I think that in RFAs etc., candidates are examined enough so that nobody would be able to get a right just because he made many fake translation edit. --MF-W 03:06, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Totally agree with MF-W; Whats the point of having thousands of edits? If one is here to just pile up the edit count of his/her trust me s/he will be out of here in no time. It's boring doing something for the sake of doing it.--Vyom25 (talk) 18:39, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, guys. Thank You for the reply. I still think that we must watch on such non-quality contributions, since all wikicommunity members do not examine the candidates thoroughly. Many of them do not examine (like in job: they care to see a pile of reports, never reading any) the edits/candidates, they simply vote "yes" or glorify the candidates on the candidacies/elections, just for getting the "friendship points", for "wikipolitical" reasons. Kubura (talk) 01:28, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This is just a misunderstanding. As it's clear from the edit summaries, the user translated the "Hello"[4] but the Translate extension reflected the edit only at the next update of the translation page[5] (bugzilla:46716). Kubura, next time please be more careful when judging and "accusing" other users. Thanks, Nemo 13:51, 11 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Help me[edit]

Hello MF-Warburg

Is it possible to help as technical assistance? Because I have some problem in the local wiki (So.wikipedia)

the problem is when i create article like http://so.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Example

I use

{{/Example}}

but when i create article like http://so.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portal:Example

I have to use

{{:{{FULLPAGENAME}}/Example

Can you help me that not to put template FULLPAGENAME I think the portal is not present in the NAMESPACE http://so.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:PrefixIndex

Thanks

--Abshirdheere (talk) 00:06, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, what exactly are you trying to do? Transcluding a subpage?
The different behaviour happens because the namespace settings on so.wikipedia are different for the Wikipedia namespace and the Main namespace (yes, there is no Portal namespace at the moment, so the software treats the page as being in the Main space). The Wikipedia namespace allows subpages, the Main namespace currently not.
If you want to have this changed, or want a new Portal namespace, you would need to have a local discussion and then make a request in Bugzilla (I can help you with that if you want). --MF-W 03:04, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

look here

ans here can you add portal name here

Thanks

--Abshirdheere (talk) 14:19, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the Portal namespace does currently not exist. If you want one, you first need to have a local discussion on so.wikipedia, then you can link to that discussion in the Bugzilla bug and developers will be able to enable it. --MF-W 14:23, 7 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked[edit]

Hi, apparently you blocked me from editing articles because of "crosswiki spam".

Could you please point out to me which specific edit I made that resulted in the block?

Thanks. — The preceding unsigned comment was added by 2.221.73.237 (talk)

This was part of a range block against several crosswiki spambots. It obviously shouldn't have hit you, my apologies. The block is now removed. --MF-W 23:45, 9 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why there are so many duplicates in the archive, but the request was rejected: Steward_requests/Global/2013-07#Global_lock_for_Gusskie_9. --MF-W 14:54, 11 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please merge this as necessary into the "Tuvan" proposal. Also, what do you think about xh:Special:Contributions/CTMakerbot? P.S. Any update on Akan/Twi/Fante? PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:22, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, never mind the Tyvan thing (I thought it was referring to tyvwiki, d'oh, didn't notice "Wiktionary"). But the other things, I'm still interested in.. PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:38, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Edit conflict! I'll spare you what I wrote on T(y|u)van. The edits of CTMakerbot seem fine to me, though if the user plans to start creating a lot of bot-stubs like he does on mswiki, I would find that to be meh, since he doesn't know the language well (as I see from his answer to you).
Akan/Twi/Fante: No... do you have prospective contributors? --MF-W 03:40, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I have prospective contributors to the Akan Wikipedia. Many people from Planning Wikimedia Ghana, e.g. ak:User:Nkansahrexford. PiRSquared17 (talk) 03:50, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Translation notification[edit]

Did you send it twice? I received it twice. PiRSquared17 (talk) 02:37, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't - or at least I didn't want to and also did not click the send button twice. In fact I edited around in the custom text until the very last second (and both notifs are the same), so I guess something has gone wrong with clicking the button :/ [6]. --MF-W 02:40, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

--Abshirdheere (talk) 18:43, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Abshirdheere, we will give Zack a further (now longer) term of temporary adminship surely. Regarding bureaucratship, usually bureaucrats are only needed when a wiki already has several active sysops. --MF-W 22:16, 30 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Cirt, this IP just made one trolling edit. Please do not welcome such users. Thank you. --MF-W 18:48, 2 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, I'd looked at edits of those I was welcoming, before I welcomed them! I guess I didn't understand the context of the history of this particular IP to be able to understand that it was a trolling edit in particular. I'll be more careful in the future. I agree with you that it's best not to encourage "trolling", as you put it, either on this site locally or especially crosswiki. Sorry for butting in MF-W, but this user is revert warring on this RfA. Just thought I'd let you know :) Razorflame 12:44, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
You should both stop edit-warring. --MF-W 15:44, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
He inserts link to YouTube-video with Gubin Michail's text of the song in the article about Viktor Tsoy - Gubin Michail is the schoolboy who can't be reliable source; Tsoy's text can be translated by the proffesional philologists, but not schoolboys in YouTube. This is completely blasphemy, profanation and simple Gubin's PR in his Wiki-communities socialisation. And about closed Region 190's request in "Requests for adminship" page - request that was closed after 18 days - and after 4 more days he suddenly re-opened this request, after that there were 3 more votes from puppets. So I've described the situation and I'll continue to revert this vandalism, wish you or not. By the way, Region 190 already was permanently banned in Russian Wikipedia, he was given a chance to correct his behavior. But all his unrealized dark force he uses in Buryat Wikipedia which has no administrators and even useful active users at the moment.--Soul Train (talk) 22:18, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, Razorflame, you are right, here is my edit - closing of request after 12 days of inactivity. And the next edit, after 4 days, from Region 190, that reverted my correctly closing. I don't think that sysop-requests can be running so long, but if we'll see bxr-wikipedia's history, we find that all previous votings were continued for one week (sometimes users just forget about those requests), in this case it was 18 days - more than enough.--Soul Train (talk) 22:31, 3 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Siddhartha Ghai@hiwikipedia[edit]

Hi Warburg, a user has expressed some concern about the promotion of Siddhartha Ghai to admin. According to him, he, Siddhartha Ghai, should not have been promoted because he didn't accept the nomination. Siddhartha added that he forgot to mention his consent. I don't know what to do in this situation. Regards.--Bill william compton (talk) 15:45, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Bill, this shouldn't be a huge problem — if Siddhartha had not wanted to become an admin, he could have said it during the request. If he now doesn't want to keep the rights, he can request them to be removed. --MF-W 15:57, 4 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Language converter needs[edit]

Hello, see Nikerabbit's question on gerrit:78504: is the decision on whether such a language converter is needed something LangCom could help with? If not, who should decide or advise? Thanks. --Nemo 21:16, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I would love it if Langcom would be able to order the WMF to create language converters :P
On this issue, I think that a new language converter for a language written in more than one script is always an appreciable thing. I can bring this question to the rest of Langcom as well, but since we already have an existing project here, I guess the best would be to ask the yue community if they want/need it. But I can't imagine any objections from Langcom or the community (except on technical aspects, if it turns out to not work). --MF-W 21:57, 20 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Dellieplagiat[edit]

... is misbehaving. :( I requested a lot of !delete but so far there has been nothing at Steward requests/Miscellaneous/Bot-reported. The bot replies but no addition to that page. Here are the pages.

There might be more from the same IPs. --Glaisher [talk] 07:48, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I blame Toolserver!! It should work now again. I'll go through the pages to delete them etc. --MF-W 13:19, 21 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

From Meadow Mari Wiki[edit]

Once a voting is finished, you can ask stewards to give admin rights on SRP. --MF-W 18:24, 24 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Policy[edit]

[8] Policy required him to have two bans and demonstration of cross-wiki abuse. He was obviously unable to meet either criteria and that is why it has been overwhelming oppose. He knew he didn't meet the criteria yet did it anyway. Pure harassment done across the Wiki, which is not what the system is for. You cannot say he was following policy when he clearly was not. Ottava Rima (talk) 16:08, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I did not comment on the other aspects of the proposal and whether they were valid or not, but just on the notification part. If someone opens a global ban discussion, it's obvious that he would also need to make notifications for it to be valid (regardless of whether the proposal itself is valid or not - the proposer of a global ban is surely always convinced that it is a permissible one). --MF-W 16:19, 26 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Logically, a proposal has to be valid before it mass spams someone and harasses them. The notifications should always come after something is deemed valid. It is obvious that this was used as a means to attack me, and Nemo bis should have been blocked for that. Why you haven't come to the conclusion a lot of others have come to is baffling. luri delete request for new language page[edit]

Hello the lurish or luri reguest for new language page is deleted i receive this message

This page has been deleted. The deletion and move log for the page are provided below for reference. 13:08, 30 August 2013 Tegel (talk | contribs) deleted page Requests for new languages/Wikipedia lurish (G4: Redundant: Requests for new languages/Wikipedia Lurish)

I dont understand for what that problem it made please describe reason of that deletion and deletion of Wiktionary_Luri,Wikiquote Luri and Wikibooks lrc requests pages

lurish or luri are same language with two name

what can I do for creat that page so that it doesn't delete

I need your help so thanks

lrc lori (talk) 13:36, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

As you can read the page was deleted because it was redundant. Requests for new languages/Wikipedia Lurish already exists, you do not need to create any more request pages. --MF-W 15:42, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

so thanks

how can I replace it in this page http://incubator.wikimedia.org/wiki/Wp/lrc? instead of Requests for new languages/Wikipedia Luri please help me

lrc lori (talk) 19:14, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Like this. --MF-W 19:24, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

so thanks

Warning: You are recreating a page that was previously deleted. You should consider whether it is appropriate to continue editing this page. The deletion and move log for this page are provided here for convenience: 01:00, 30 August 2013 MF-Warburg (talk | contribs) deleted page Requests for new languages/Wikiquote Luri (Part of a mass-creation of requests really not necessary at the moment)

this message is in reguest page of lrc wikibook, lrc Wiktionary and lrc Wikiquote

what's that mean what can I do to resolve that?

and if it possible change title lurish to luri in requesting for new language page?

beacuse it more familier and more known in the world

so thanks

lrc lori (talk) 19:41, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have created a redirect now, so that you can go to Requests for new languages/Wikipedia Luri and be sent to Requests for new languages/Wikipedia Lurish, so that there shouldn't be any problems with finding the page.
The warning message appears because I have deleted the request pages for Wikibooks, Wiktionary and Wikiquote in Luri. At the moment they are not needed; please wait first for the decision on the request for Luri Wikipedia. You can, if desired, always work on the Wikibooks, Wiktionary and Wikiquote test-projects on Incubator, also without creating a request here. --MF-W 20:16, 30 August 2013 (UTC) (PS: You can create new lines by writing <br />; that way you don't need to insert empty lines in your message)[reply]

so thanks for your helps and tips

You can tranlate the MediaWiki software (the software which is used on Wikipedia, Meta, Incubator, etc.) on translatewiki:. However, it first needs to be enabled to support translation into Lurish. Please request that on translatewiki:Support.

Sorry for the late answer but thank you very much for the clarification! Excuse me that I bother you on your talk page but the request is archived. :) I don't know if you can help me but I have another small question regarding a translation. The translation of the donation message in bg Wikipedia has a grammar mistake and I just can't find how to correct it? Thank you again and sorry for the off topic. :)--Алиса Селезньова (talk) 10:05, 2 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

You can probably find it somewhere here. If not, it's best to ask User:Jalexander. --MF-W 02:19, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Which message? (Where do you see it?) Jalexander (talk) 04:40, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I see it in bg Wikipedia, on the top of the page in yellow box. I don't see it every time I open bg Wiki, but very often - it says that Wiki is collecting donations.--Алиса Селезньова (talk) 07:11, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
A, ok yup, I know they have a couple banners and so want to make sure the fix you need to make is captured for all of them. I'm going to point some of the fundraising team to you so that they can help point out the right place! Jalexander (talk) 08:26, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your help.--Алиса Селезньова (talk) 13:57, 3 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, you can correct the banner message at [9] (ignore that it says 2012, we still update from there). Then I will put it live. Thanks for your help! Peter Coombe (WMF) (talk) 14:46, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure you update from there? Because I don't see the irritating grammar mistake I've been seeing during the recent couple of weeks in bg Wiki (it was really annoying - that's why I remember it and decided to ask for assistance).--Алиса Селезньова (talk) 16:40, 4 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oh yes, you're right. Not sure why it hasn't been copied from there in a while, I've just updated the live version. Peter Coombe (WMF) (talk) 11:58, 5 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

lrc lori (talk) 04:41, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Mogoeilor.
As MF-Warburg is absent from 4 to 20 September, I will be answering some questions addressed to him.
Please read these instructions to get language support. Where it says "zxx" or "xyz", replace with "lrc", which is the language code for Northern Luri.
I see you have already asked on "Support" there, so I recommend you wait for a reply. In the mean time, you should supply any information needed (name in English, local name, RTL [right-to-left] script, what other scripts should it use, best fallback language).
Regards, PiRSquared17 (talk) 21:20, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blocked IP?[edit]

Dear MF-Warburg,

When attempting right now to edit a minor mistake in one of the Wikipedia pages, I found I was banned to and got this message as an explanation:

You are currently unable to edit Wikipedia. Editing from your IP address (83.53.209.145) has been blocked (disabled) on all Wikimedia wikis until 11:30, 14 September 2013 by MF-Warburg (meta.wikimedia.org) for the following reason: Cross-wiki spam This block began on 11:30, 14 March 2013

If you could be so kind as to explain what I did wrong, maybe we could sort things out. I hope this is but a misunderstanding. Something I believe to be quite weird is that I've been contributing with no problems (and no controversies) whatsoever until as recently as last week, so I find it hard to grasp how could the block on my account begin on March. Please let me know what you think.

Best regards,

Jordissim

Hello Jordissim,
As MF-Warburg is absent from 4 - 20 September, I will attempt to answer this question to the best of my abilities. Please note that MF-Warburg is a volunteer steward, and that I am just a volunteer involved in steward-related areas.
I personally recommend that you file a request for Global IP block exemption on SRGP. Actually, you were not blocked individually: it was a /21 range block, so up to 2048 IPs (or 2046, as two are always reserved if I recall correctly) have been affected. Maybe the block only applied to you recently, because your IP changed. Anyway, the block expires in a few days, do it would not be unreasonable to request that the range (83.53.208.0/21) be unblocked by filing a request on SRG, where a steward will review it.
This block of thousands of IPs was made because some IP address in this range had been spamming. It does not mean that you specifically have done anything wrong. In fact, many users affected by this block may be innocent.
Regards, PiRSquared17 (talk) 21:07, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Permanent admin on napwiki?[edit]

Hi. Could Chelin become a permanent admin on napwiki? The project has admins and 'crats already. (nap:Wikipedia:Ammenistratòre#Chelin_.28extend.2Frenew.29) PiRSquared17 (talk) 02:46, 21 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Of course the existing bureaucrats (who are however already inactive for quite some time on napwiki) can also make him a permanent admin if they can be contacted. Otherwise, for requesting it from stewards, the answer is: yes, if a certain number of supporting opinions (to avoid the idiotic expression "!votes") from active users of the project is reached. The exact number, as can be seen on SRP all the time, is hard to define, but is maybe something like 5. For projects which already have permanent admins, who are also active, it can be less (to prevent a "two-class-system" of admins). It will depend on what number of votes from which users is there at the time the request is brought to SRP, and also on which steward will handle the request. --MF-W 01:47, 22 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]
He's a permanent admin there now. PiRSquared17 (talk) 18:59, 26 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

An offering for our new bureaucrat from your comrades...

MF-Warburg, congratulations! You now have the rights of bureaucrat on Meta. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Bureaucrats page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for adminship and Meta:Changing username, but also Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat), before launching yourself into account renamings or user rights changes. You also may find these pages to be useful reading. On Meta-Wiki, the actions of bureaucrats can be reversed by the other bureucrats.

A tip: add this page Meta:Administrators' discussion index to your watchlist, it tracks the latest activity to various sections of many of the important pages.

Cross-wiki spam[edit]

How did I spam? I was just adding more pages to different English articles on Wikipedia to help out, not to spam! I mean, don't you understand I am trying to be helpful and improve articles and such? -- 70.190.250.58 6:29, October 25, 2013 (UTC)

To be more specific, you spammed pictures that violated copyright law across over 100 Wikipedias, and the translations were obviously done by Google Translate. --Rschen7754 01:42, 26 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
But I did not really use Google Translate, I just got some other articles in different languages and tried to make it look and sound good to help out! Don't you understand? -- 70.190.250.58 6:51, October 25, 2013 (UTC)
You can still damage the encyclopedia even if you have good intentions. --Rschen7754 01:55, 26 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

LOL Austrian politicians?! BTW, GUC is back (at least partly). :] --Glaisher [talk] 05:17, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I did not promise I was gonna stop, I said I would TRY not to do it again. I just wanna improve articles and add some to help out, okay? -- 70.190.250.58 2:23, October 31, 2013 (UTC)
That is not helping. That is damaging. --Glaisher [talk] 09:13, 1 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I apologize to you, okay? I really do. Can you at least give me one more chance? -- 70.190.250.58 1:02, November 1, 2013 (UTC)
I am not really inclined to. If creating articles with no or false information is like a temptation to you that you can only try to avoid, not simply stop... --MF-W 16:06, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, if you give me a last chance, I would really appreciate it. -- 70.190.250.58 2:36, November 2, 2013 (UTC)

Global IP Block[edit]

Hi. I recently discovered that my scripts on a server where throwing an "wikimedia-globalblocking-ipblocke" error, which suggests that the server is blocked globally. I'm not aware of anything for which my bot would get a global IP block, so I just assume the IP fell under some range block. However, I couldn't find any evidence of it in the global IP block log. I confirmed this by running the script locally which worked just fine. Could you please check whether there is a block on the IP address used by the bot? Thanks in advance. -- Edinwiki (talk) 16:53, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, if I should check it, you also need to tell me the IP address ;) But you can check for the existence of range blocks yourself on Special:GlobalBlockList. --MF-W 19:02, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I would rather not publicly list the IP here if it is not necessary (for privacy reasons). I did check that page on my ipv4 address and it didn't show any results. But now I tried also my ipv6 address and indeed, it falls in the range block 2A01:4F8:0:0:0:0:0:0/29. It expires over a year and the reason for the block is that there were some open proxies used. However, 2A01:4F8:* seems a bit too broad; I guess it can be narrowed to a much smaller IP space. Can you please take a look at this? -- Edinwiki (talk) 21:04, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Can't you simply edit through the non-blocked IPv4? Otherwise, unfortunately I don't understand much of IPv6 and its ranges, please post on SRG. Btw you can also mail stewards(_AT_)wikimedia.org if you want to make requests which include IPs that you don't want to make public. --MF-W 21:36, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Binding on IPv4 would require some customizations on the server that are not preferred at the moment. I have contacted Trijnstel to see whether he can refine the range, and hopefully the issue will be resolved in a simpler way. :) Otherwise I'll drop a mail to the address you mentioned. Thanks in any case! -- Edinwiki (talk) 22:07, 27 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Armenian Wikipedia[edit]

Dear MF-Warburg, please remove Xelgen's admin right because of non-activity it is the contributions for Armenian Wikipedia, in the last few years there has been a glimpse of some activities. Best Regards --Vadgt (talk) 10:35, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Vadgt, he has edited and made actions still today, so I don't have a basis for removing his admin rights. Is there an inactivity policy on Armenian Wikipedia? Otherwise I can only act on the basis of AAR, which required an inactivity of 2 years. --MF-W 16:10, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
GOOD. Ok. --Vadgt (talk) 17:20, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

BAABP[edit]

Blargh! Hello Emefwe, with regards to this addition, for the BAABP pattern, I'm actually looking for spambots that create user pages without any spam links. Sadly (sort of), I haven't seen any of them since I created that page. ;) Thanks for your help though! I appreciate that. Regards, Mathonius (talk) 13:57, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, thanks. Chargadargh, --MF-W 16:10, 2 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your name came up in a discussion[edit]

And one of your decisions, I dared characterized as Poor! <gasp> But my real complaint is not about the decision, nor about what changes ought be made, and I do not think you did anything that is Really Really Wrong And Bad, and requires fixing or even noticing. You semi-protected a page indefinitely, when methinks that was the incorrect sort of protection, and the wrong duration. But again, there is nothing you need do, I'm not really concerned about that page, or that choice, it is Totally Not Worth Worrying Over... in other words, feel free to entirely skip this message, and the link, nothing bad will happen if you do.

That said, didn't want to gossip, you are very welcome to come over and rebut my characterization, or otherwise help me straighten up and fly right, see here -- User_talk:PiRSquared17#retention_vs_wikiCulture However, uhhh, methinks I should remind-slash-warn you, perhaps you recall that I'm the TLDR anon who deeply and truly believes wikipedia should be sending love-notes to spambots.  :-)   Click the link only if prepared for w:WP:WALLOFTEXT, since I am as yet still incapable of laser-focus. Finally, although I think you goofed on this one judgment-call, elsewhere I've seen your good work, and appreciated it, so please accept my thanks for your ongoing improvements to wikipedia. 74.192.84.101 21:03, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, thank you. I have replied on the talk page of PiRSquared and removed the protection in question as well. --MF-W 22:15, 21 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Gracias. My suggested changes are a little too drastic, so I'll pursue them directly with LVilla before trying to edit mainspace, but nice to know I can again. Thanks for improving wikipedia, see you around. 74.192.84.101 00:23, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notification to the community: Wp/pih[edit]

Dear Mr MF-Warburg,

The Proposal for the Closure of Norfuk Wikipedia has been filed today. Please add this Closure Proposal onto the Site noticeboard of the local community just as you had done on the Site noticeboard of Kirundi Wikipedia. Only Stewards such as you have the priviledge to edit the local Site noticeboards, hence my request to you. --Philip J (talk) 15:46, 29 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Global Rollback[edit]

Greetings MF -Warburg! I am perplexed about the Global Rollback rights. At my current stage, do I have a chance with earning the rights? Thank you! --Kind Regards, Goldenburg111 (talk) 23:32, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

No. --MF-W 23:48, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Excuse me. I don't understand. Well, anyway, we might as well close this down. --Kind Regards, Goldenburg111 (talk) 23:50, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Goldenburg111: You can use Twinkle or popups globally if you feel undo is too slow. BTW, are you in #cvn-sw yet? PiRSquared17 (talk) 23:54, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks PIR! I am very familiar with Twinkle, though. I am just confused because I couldn't find Twinkle on some of the other Wikis. Well... --Kind Regards, Goldenburg111 (talk) 00:01, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
@Goldenburg111: I just gave you a link explain how to use Twinkle on all wikis... PiRSquared17 (talk) 00:07, 2 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, MF-Warburg, did I made a mess of it again? Lotje (talk) 9:23, December 4, 2013 (UTC)

Hello, I reverted because you just added a link to the contributions of one IP without section title, signature or the content / reason for your request. --MF-W 23:08, December 4, 2013 (UTC)

Excuse me, MF-Warburg? Could you kindly unblock me? Because I will try not to mess anything up. -- 70.190.250.58 8:23pm, December 5, 2013 (UTC)

If he is not answering you, that probably means no. --Rschen7754 02:50, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well, can you contact him yourself and ask him to unblock me? -- 70.190.250.58 12:29, December 6, 2013 (UTC)

No. Now please leave him alone. --Rschen7754 07:30, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Re-Home wiki: unable to determine[edit]

Hello,

Thank you for answering. You said it is because of renaming my username, but look at Special:CentralAuth/لا روسا, this user had changed her username before, but there is no problem on Special:CentralAuth. I just want to know what the technical problem is. --العراقي (talk) 17:17, 6 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It happens when the account at the home wiki is renamed away. For example, this user originally had his CentralAuth homewiki on en.wikipedia. Then he got renamed to a different username (on enwiki and other wikis), so the the original homewiki account for the username "Hex" couldn't be found by the software anymore because it was renamed. It was then later recreated by automatic login, but that doesn't matter.
Again, this information on the page is really not important for your account. See also bugzilla:14234. --MF-W 13:40, 7 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Can you describe/translate what exactly the vandalism is? --MF-W 23:06, 11 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
) vandalism = sabotage

--Abshirdheere (talk) 20:36, 12 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I know that sabotage is another word for vandalism; but what is the content of this vandalism? --MF-W 23:28, 13 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
