Problem with replacement when ISBN is inside curly braces

See this edit for a potential regex adjustment. WP editors sure are creative. Jonesey95 (talk) 14:37, 28 June 2017 (UTC)

Yes, they are, but I'm not inclined to account for poor markup choices. — JJMC89(T·C) 23:51, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
JJMC89. This is a bug. In the previous revision of the page, the ISBN link worked. Following an edit by the bot it no longer worked. Please "account" for syntax, and ideally stop the bot until this bug is fixed. —Sladen (talk) 04:32, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

Suppressing link

en:International Standard Book Number has some examples where an ISBN should be displayed in plain text. That was achieved with nowiki so the magic link was not active. However, the bot changes an ISBN inside the nowiki: diff. I understand there are other bots that also remove magic links. Is there an official way to disable linking? I was thinking of trying one of the following but it might be better to have some central ideas.

<nowiki>ISBN</nowiki> 0-306-40615-2
ISBN 0-306-40615-2

Yes check.svg Resolved Thanks for the report, Johnuniq. This was a bug. See GitHub for details. — JJMC89(T·C) 02:16, 7 July 2017 (UTC)
Has edits such as [1] also been fixed? 173.239.230.58 16:07, 25 July 2017 (UTC)
That is what the above is about, so yes. — JJMC89(T·C) 16:15, 25 July 2017 (UTC)

More detailed edit summaries

JJMC89. Please could the bot summaries explicitly mention the template that is being added (ie. mention ISBN explicitly and how many were added in each save, not just a generic link to magic links). —Sladen (talk) 04:35, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

I could change ... with templates ... to ... with {{ISBN}} or {{PMID}} .... The edit summary will not contain counts since the function being used for the replacement does not return counts. — JJMC89(T·C) 22:14, 30 July 2017 (UTC)
