Thick skin[edit]

"Thick skins" - one needs these not solely or even primarily for maverick members of the community but to deal with those who come and go, and those who are not yet acclimatised to the pillars. Moreover it is quite noticeable that especially in the written medium of Wikipedia people take offence where none is intended - often at the mildest comment. And people also make quite rude comments, apparently believing they are being completely civil. How long would it take to train editors to "play nicely"? And who would be prepared to go through that, of our already limited number of volunteers?
