Former WMDE staff accounts
Hi, I noticed you locked a series of former WMDE staff accounts a couple of years ago (like this). Any idea who at WMDE should be contacted?
- It would be good if the account list is periodically reviewed and accounts of former staff deactivated, ideally starting with users with advanced permissions. The query can find a few unrelated accounts.
- Also, when staff at WMDE is leaving, the list should be checked and accounts deactivated.
- Test and project accounts should be handled similarly.
There is some related discussion in the forum. e 19:24, 19 January 2025 (UTC)
Global lock for EvilLair
- EvilLair (talk • contribs • block • xwiki-contribs • xwiki-date (alt • mw) • CA • gblock • ST • SC • lwcheckuser)
Reason: Long-term abuse. Per sock puppet investigation, this is the last account in line that needs locking to prevent mass disturbances across the Wikimedia sites. 67.86.36.7 19:31, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
The update of this page leaves a version every time, moreover this is always 1 hour delayed and it is not actually to. Therefore, I suggest that we ‘discontinuing’ this page and refer to my toolforgetool, this can be filtered and the data is updated every 30 minutes. (This is just my opinion. of course you can keep running your bot if you want, I'm just suggesting it. ) https://globaldeleterequests.toolforge.org/ --𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 👤💬 (WikiBayerCatHelper) 09:26, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi, it looks like the Global sysops/Speedy delete requests/Data is using outdated data for the number of sysops. According to the source code, it uses a one-off dataset that was last updated on 2021-11-24. Could you please update it so the reports display the correct sysop numbers? Also, pinging @WikiBayer: since their tool uses data from the same dataset. – DreamRimmer (talk) 11:33, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- I can create a weekly self-updating data set.--𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 👤💬 (WikiBayerCatHelper) 10:21, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
- @WikiBayer: I have created an API for this. It's currently getting sysop data, but I can add other groups if needed. The results are cached for 15 hours to avoid unnecessary queries. Let me know if you find it useful. – DreamRimmer (talk) 12:52, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
- I use it now.--𝐖𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 👤💬 (WikiBayerCatHelper)

Get started with the Lua interface to simplify the preparation of modules for translation in MetaWiki
Greetings!
The Language and Product Localization team has developed a Lua interface to simplify the preparation of Lua modules for translation in the MetaWiki platform. This means that module developers can now use the new Lua interface to load translatable strings, and the translators can translate them in the same translation interface that is used for templates and wiki pages.
This improvement makes it easier for translators to find and edit module strings without dealing with raw Lua code. It helps prevent mistakes that could break the module during translation.
We invite you to watch our demo video and read more about translatable modules to understand how it works. Please give us your feedback on this talk page on how well the Lua interface addresses the challenges in your workflow and how useful it is in module localization tasks. You can also refer to Module:User Wikimedia project, which was recently converted to utilize these messages, for example usage.
Your feedback is important as it will help us evaluate and decide how to continue developing and improving this interface, extend it to other wikis, or change our approach.
Thank you, and we anticipate your honest feedback.
