Connotations of words

You state that you are working on some horizontal projects across the company (emphasis added by me). While definition 3 of the word company in the Wiktionary refers to the general legal definition that matches the Wikipedia topic company, definition 4 is for "company" in the sense of a for-profit business. Given that the conflicts between the Wikimedia community and the Wikimedia Foundation are to some degree about behaviour by the WMF that is often interpreted as the WMF acting like a for-profit corporation aiming at high salaries for WMF leaders, despite the whole strength of the Wikimedia wikis coming from its altruistic role as a non-profit activity, I would suggest that you change the word "company" in your user page to a word that shows a better understanding of what the Wikimedia wikis are all about. A technically correct but ambiguous word does not help in communication. Boud (talk) 17:00, 13 June 2026 (UTC)

re: ChartWizard deployed on Beta cluster for testing

As the currently solo responder to unblock requests for the Beta Cluster, I am worried that a campaign to drive arbitrary volunteers to that environment for user acceptance testing is going to play out badly due to T420833: Beta cluster is being crawled to death by bot traffic coming from residential proxies and the large ranges of public IPv4 space that are actively blocked. Do you think it would be reasonably possible for your UAT phase to be performed in a Patch Demo instance? I will second this, in addition to the above, I've heard from volunteers that they are having a tough time accessing the beta cluster to test the feature. (Not the least because the security ticket workflow is daunting to non-developers). I would strongly suggest that the feature be demo be moved/enabled on the test wikis instead of the beta cluster.
