RE: Estatutos

[edit]

Hola Santi.

Fundraising translation feedback

[edit]

Hey Millars,

I wanted to ask for your help. As you may be aware we have been running banners on many language wikis. We have a lot of new content this year and I really want to conduct a thorough review of our translations. This is a combination of feedback from the community, readers, donors as well as those with professional translator experience. This will help us ensure the highest quality of translations used in our messaging.

To help us out with this I wonder if you would be willing to give us feedback for Spanish using This Link

Simply follow the simple instructions on that page and if you have any questions feel free to contact me on my talk page.

Many Thanks

WLM Writing challenge highlighted in learning pattern

[edit]

Hi Millars, I added some quotes from WM Spain's reports on the WLM writing challenge to a learning pattern on how to Increase number of photos in use. If you have a few minutes, it would be great if you could add any other lessons you learned or important tips for others to consider if they plan their own post WLM writing challenge. I was really impressed by how well your team's project went last year, so thank you and congratulations on that. --KHarold (WMF) (talk) 21:33, 28 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

@KHarold (WMF): Thank you. I'll share this with out team and in case we had any idea, we'll write it to you. This year we want to do a writing contest but only for a few languages (languages spoken in Spain and Portugal) to improve articles about natural sites and use images from Wiki Loves Earth. Regards. --Millars (talk) 18:07, 31 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Inspire Campaign on content curation & review

[edit]

I've recently launched an Inspire Campaign to encourage new ideas focusing on content review and curation in Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia volunteers collaboratively manage vast repositories of knowledge, and we’re looking for your ideas about how to manage that knowledge to make it more meaningful and accessible. We invite you to participate and submit ideas, so please get involved today! The campaign runs until March 28th.

All proposals are welcome - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is welcome - your skills and experience can help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign to improve review and curation tasks so that we can make our content more meaningful and accessible! I JethroBT (WMF) 05:39, 29 February 2016 (UTC)Reply

Through June, we’re organizing an Inspire Campaign to encourage and support new ideas focusing on addressing harassment toward Wikimedia contributors. The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.

Proposals in any language are welcome during the campaign - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Funding is available from the Wikimedia Foundation for projects that need financial support. Constructive feedback on ideas is appreciated, and collaboration is encouraged - your skills and experience may help bring someone else’s project to life. Join us at the Inspire Campaign so that we can work together to develop ideas around this important and difficult issue. With thanks,

Olympics and Paralympics

[edit]

Hi. We met during Wikimania-2017 and spoke about Olympics and Paralympics. I want to organize or coorganize some writing thematic week or contest in Ukrainian Wiki. Also I support Bashkir Wikipedia and they are organizing Olympic Wikimarathon now. Do you have any suggestions or ideas of organizing them? Best wishes, --Visem (talk) 12:23, 16 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Yes, I think global contest is very good idea. If there is a possibility with prices it would be very motivative. I think it's not bad to start from the beginning of Olympics and finish at the end of Paralympics. In Ukrainian Wiki there were many thematic weeks with Olympic games but still there is big gap with content. Even in English Wiki the big problem with content. So I think we should write as more as possible not only about this edition of Olympics, but also about previous. --Visem (talk) 08:23, 17 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for the link to created page. I have added phrase about all the previous editions of Games. Yes, I am a member of WMUA. I want to ask some questions. Should we create page of this contest in Wikipedia (for example in Ukrainian or Bashkir Wikipedia) or anybody can join the contest in every language by the page of contest in Meta? How should we count the input of the participants in every language (because I also want to invite people to join from minority languages)? Who should provide souvenirs for Ukrainian participants: WMUA or WMES? Best wishes, --Visem (talk) 23:16, 23 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When we were talking with you yesterday, my coleague from Ukrainian Wiki Antanana has created the page in Ukrainian. I will propose her to integrate it with this contest. Maybe it can became a coordinational page only for people who will write in Ukrainian Wiki. I think such page will be more promotional inside our wiki, because the question of Olympics and Paralimpics is very important for many of our editors. And I like very much the idea for all languages. One more thing I like to do in this stage is to make a translation of this meta page into different languages, but I don't know exactly how this tool works. --Visem (talk) 20:38, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Also there is a proposition to make the event a bit longer (for example in Ukrainian it is up to 25th of March). It will give some opportunities for the participants to work with results of Games and make more qualitive input. --Visem (talk) 21:25, 24 January 2018 (UTC)Reply

Hi! I have just translated the page of the contest into Ukrainian. As far as I understand from the rules, is it only about Winter Games? Articles about Summer Games are not participate? --Visem (talk) 21:17, 3 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your answer. I will ask them if they want to join as organizers. --Visem (talk) 22:43, 3 February 2018 (UTC)Reply

Come join Wikimedia CEE Spring 2018/CEE Women again! <3

[edit]
Get a postcard from one of the countries in red :)

Hello, Millars! You receive this message because last year you took part in the CEE Women challenge. This year the challenge repeats, and it will take longer: from now until the end of May (about 10 weeks).

Please, feel invited to visit the page Wikimedia CEE Spring 2018/CEE Women and join the challenge again. Help have more notable women from Central and Eastern Europe in more language versions globally, including Spanish and Catalan. We again have a list of ideas for biographic articles all over the CEE.

What is different this year is that now you can set your own minimal number of articles as a measure of your challenge (i don't advise you to challenge yourself with more than 70 ;) 10-20 is perfect!). Also, you can receive as a prize a postcard not only from Bulgaria (as in 2017), but also from a list of countries from CEE and around the world. Apart of being a receiver, you can also opt to be a sender of postcards from your country to some of the other participants! That would also be awesome!

Thank you in advance for any contribution you make to CEE Women, and for spreading the word in your local wiki community! Love, Vassia / Spiritia 18:20, 24 March 2018 (UTC)Reply

[Wikipedia & Education User Group] Updates: November 2018

[edit]

Greetings,

Integrating Wikimedia with education is a powerful strategy for the outreach of Wikimedia projects. Realising this concept, a group of leaders promoted this and formed the Wikipedia Education Collaborative. After some time, this evolved to become a user group, officially recognised by the Affiliations Committee in June 2018. The user group had its first board elections earlier in September. In the process to formalise activities and give a shape the user group for long-term sustainability, we are now revamping our processes. Thanks for supporting us during incubation stages, we are now inviting you to formally join the user group by following the instructions on the members' page. Being a member will allow you to be a part of this wonderful collaboration and also do interesting stuff.

Kind regards

[edit]

Hello!

Wiki World Heritage UG Membership is open to anyone who supports the group's mission and objectives. To formally become a member, it is mandatory that members fill the Membership Request Form. Requests are automatically approved, except for the case of the global ban as mentioned in the by-laws.

This will also help us facilitate this year's activities and established a communication channel. You may access the form here:

Regional Funds Committee

[edit]

Hello Millars,

My name is Agnes Bruszik, I am the PO for the Northern and Western European region at the Community Resources Team in the Wikimedia Foundation. Based on recommendation by Cornelius Kibelka, I am writing to ask about you if it was interesting for you to participate in the work of the Regional Funds Committee and to represent the Iberian contexts in the Committee? Should you have any initial interest, please be so kind as to respond at abruszik@wikimedia.org, and I am happy to provide you with more information. Thank you very much! Kind regards, Agnes ABruszik-WMF (talk) 09:53, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
