Знаєте, чому оце неправильно? Тому що фінансова інформація відображає суму за певний період. Якщо написати "на 30 червня", то виходить, що на 30 червня Фонд отримав стільки то пожертв — за весь період існування чи як?! Wikimedia CEE Spring 2015 2nd meeting

Dear Nickispeaki,

I am contacting You as a contact person of Ukraine for the Wikimedia CEE Spring 2015 event and to announce that the second meeting for the Wikimedia CEE Spring organisation team will take place on the 28th of January 2015. There will be 2 discussion groups for the meeting, as to get as much people involved (some of us have other engagements during the daytime and others are not available during the evenings).

The first group will start the discussion 12:00 CET (13:00 EET, 14:00 MSK, 15:00 AMT/AZT, 17:00 ALMT, 3:00 PST).

The second group will start the discussion 18:00 CET (19:00 EET, 20:00 MSK, 21:00 AMT/AZT, 23:00 ALMT, 9:00 PST).

During the discussion both Skype call and IRC will be used. For more details see event meetings page! Wikimedia Eesti will be responsible for moderating the groups, however all contributions to the etherpad protocol are more than welcome!

Я питаю, що то було за високологічне редагування. Кілька слів українською на початку абзацу, а решта англійською. В результаті сторінка насправді не перекладена, але розширення перекладу каже, що 93% — тому що стільки тексту збережено на підсторінці /uk. Англомовні вставки

Привіт. Поясніть, для чого робити англомовні вставки у начебто перекладені сторінки, тим самим обдурюючи статистику і самих користувачів? Я зайшов на сторінку Wiki labels/uk і розгубився - переклад виконано на 100%, і при тому мало що перекладено. Для чого таке робити? Може я б побачив цю сторінку серед неперекладених повідомлень, і допереклав би її, а так - її там немає, бо вона ж на 100% перекладена.--Piramidion 18:14, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

Бачу, що цей "переклад" було зроблено вже після допису Ати вище. Тож висловлюю прохання більше такого не робити. Ви не допомагаєте, а лише створюєте проблеми іншим перекладачам. Ніякої користі від таких Ваших дій я не бачу. Якщо хочете, щоб серед списку мов завжди була українська - перекладайте назву, чи будь-яке інше повідомлення, хай навіть коротке, але не вставляйте англомовний текст, змушуючи систему вірити, що це - переклад. Якраз такий підхід сприятиме активності перекладачів, бо, скажімо, я, коли бачу українську мову в списку мов, і при цьому значок біля неї сірий або червоний - то мені хочеться зробити його зеленим, тому я беруся і перекладаю. А переробляти чужу роботу мені зовсім не хочеться. Візьміть це до уваги.--Piramidion 18:20, 20 November 2015 (UTC)

Привіт! @Piramidion: Дякую, що помітили мій внесок. ;-) Насправді, не все так погано. Тобто припускайте добрі наміри. ;-) Видно, я просто не зрозумів всіх тонкощів. Ок. Поясню ЧОМУ я так роблю. І хотілося б почути від Вас, як я можу бути надалі бути корисним. І пробачте, якщо щось не так. :-)

Я періодично бачу якісь нововведення і бачу, що там НЕМАЄ української сторінки. Тому я її створюю. Але, на жаль, мої знання англійської далеко не досконалі. А тексту іноді досить багато. Тому я перекладаю те, що знаю без словника. Інше просто ВСТАВЛЯЮ. Щодо перекладу Ати, то я його просто не бачив. А як можна, до речі, побачити переклад іншого користувача? Якщо ж є час і натхнення, то потім доперекладаю. Звістно, іноді кидаю, як є. ;-( Чесно кажучи, не чекав, що мій внесок буде оцінений АЖ НАСТІЛЬКИ негативно! ;-( І що мені тепер ВЗАГАЛІ нічого не робити? Бо, повторюся, отак наскоком щось ВСЕ на 100 відсотків мені перекласти досить важко. ;-( А що ІНШИМ укр-користувачам теж забути про якусь участь на вікі, якщо вони, як і я, не досконало володіють мовою? Власне, я так частково і перекладаю САМЕ тому, щоб інші ХОЧ ЩОСЬ частково могли б прочитати, бо я знаю, багатьох, у кого знання мови ЩЕ гірші. Пробачте за відвертість, але якби я сумнівався у Ваших добрих намірах, то вже звернувся б до адмінів, щоб Вас заблокували Справа в тому, що Ви таки справді створюєте проблеми перекладачам. Якщо Ви візьмете будь-яку сторінку, перекладете лише її назву - українська автоматично з'явиться у списку мов. І коли після цього Ви зайдете на цю сторінку, то побачите, що всі повідомлення вже й так є англійською. Так от - риторичне запитання, навіщо "перекладати", вставляючи англомовний текст (більшість повідомлень у згаданій тут статті взагалі не містили жодного українського слова), якщо він вже й без того там є? Логічна й пряма відповідь може бути лише одна - для того, щоб обдурити статистику. Не знаю, чи це справді так, чи Ви просто робили це через нерозуміння, але знову ж таки - прошу припинити. Даючи відповідь на Ваші запитання - пропоную братися за переклад лише тих повідомлень, які Ви можете перекласти повністю, і не перекладати тих, які можете перекласти лише частково. Тобто можете перекладати назви статей, назви розділів, підписи до зображень тощо - але не чіпайте того тексту, який перекласти не можете. Прийде хтось інший, навіть я - і перекладе те, що залишилося після Вас. За таку роботу ми будемо Вам вдячні. І тим самим Ви змусите українську мову з'являтися у списку мов на початку сторінки. Ті ж, у кого знання мови, як Ви кажете, ще гірші, ніж у Вас, ніяк не краще розумітимуть текст, у якому кілька слів написано українською, кілька англійською, кілька знову українською - а решта англійською (це я про одне повідомлення, яке Ви зберегли у такому форматі).

Щодо Вашого запитання про те, як можна побачити переклад іншого користувача - я його просто не розумію. Те, про що Ата запитувала у темі вище - стосується того ж - Ви, загалом, зберегли замість перекладу оригінал, і в тому повідомленні переклали лише два перших слова, а решту залишили англійською, і так зберегли. diff У цьому й проблема.--Piramidion 18:27, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

Чому ж не вірю? У Вікіпедії, скажімо, я часто перетинався з Вашим внеском, і дивувався Вашій витримці й терпеливості при роботі з новачками А статистика відображається, крім сторінки Special:LanguageStats, у блоці з мовами, вгорі кожної сторінки. доступної для перекладу. наприклад, якщо Ви бачите англомовну сторінку, і бачите блок з мовами, Ви можете наводити мишкою на кожну з мов, і там можете прочитати, на скільки відсотків сторінка перекладена цими мовами. Якщо наведете на українську цій статті Wiki labels - там писатиме, що 100% перекладено. І от коли я заходжу на якусь таку сторінку, і бачу, що там українською 100% перекладено - я хочу почитати текст українською, тому клацаю на українську мову в блоці мов, переходжу - а там, виявляється, 90% англійською, тобто статистика хибна.

І не обмежуйте себе лише короткими повідомлення - перекладайте й довгі, якщо Вам до снаги, але перекладайте їх повністю, не лишайте текст англійською. Ви, мабуть, просто ще не розумієте тутешньої системи. І це не кажучи про численні баги, які в ній є. Тож якщо маєте бажання - перекладайте (по одному повідомленню за раз, і повністю) - чим більше тут працюватимете, тим краще будете розуміти, як тут все влаштовано.

І ще раз щодо того, що Ви зробили зробили не так (одним реченням): Ви зберегли неперекладений текст, назвавши його перекладом на українську (так це зрозуміла система).--Piramidion 01:25, 1 December 2015 (UTC)

Добрий день! Здається, я нарешті зрозумів, що Ви мали на увазі! ;-) Я просто хотів як краще і клікав на всі повідомлення..... Типу, щоб все було. :-) А тепер зрозумів, що для інших перекладачів то всесвітнє зло на меті. ;-0 Ок. А якщо, я, припустимо, бачу сторінку із 20 абзаців, перекладу ТІЛЬКИ перший, решта не буду чіпати, то читач що побачить? Перший абзац українською, а решту - англійською? Добрий день! Якщо перекладете тільки перший - то читач бачитиме перекладений перший абзац, а решту - англійською. Так само буває, якщо повідомлення переклали, але воно застаріло (хтось змінив оригінальний текст), то система автоматично заміняє його англомовним, доки воно не буде виправлене. Ну і ще один плюс від перекладу будь-якого повідомлення - це те, що українська мова з'являється в блоці мов, і це, до речі, заохочує перекладачів братися за переклад. Здається, я тут з такого починав - зайшов щоб щось прочитати, побачив, що є українською, перейшов - а стаття виявилася не до кінця перекладеною, тож я вирішив перекласти. Під час перекладу в блоці мов є кольорові позначки біля кожної мови - такі квадратики. Якщо квадратиків чотири і вони сірі - то стаття майже не перекладена. Якщо один і він темно-червоний - то десь біля 20% перекладено. Якщо два або три квадратики червоного кольору, то до половини, або понад половину статті вже перекладено, відповідно. Якщо є чотири квадратики, і вони зелені - то стаття перекладена на 80-100%. Так от - мені не подобалося, коли в блоці мов багато мовних версій статті мали зелену позначку, а українська - сіру або червону, тому я виправляв це. Навіть не знаю... Я іноді перекладаю технічні новини, новини Візуального редактора (виходять раз на місяць або рідше), ще знаю, що наші перекладачі працюють над новинами Вікімедіа (Wikimedia Highlights), а так - я просто вибираю з тієї спеціальної сторінки ("всі переклади" в бічному меню зліва) те, що мене цікавить, і перекладаю. Буває, що з Мети розсилають якісь повідомлення про актуальні теми, як-от недавно було про Бассела Хартабіла (я там трохи перекладав), або зараз - про 2015 Community Wishlist Survey - там досить багато сторінок до перекладу, і я потроху перекладаю.--Piramidion 21:52, 2 December 2015 (UTC)

I've recently launched an Inspire Campaign to encourage new ideas focusing on content review and curation in Wikimedia projects. Wikimedia volunteers collaboratively manage vast repositories of knowledge, and we’re looking for your ideas about how to manage that knowledge to make it more meaningful and accessible. Participate in the Inspire Campaign and help address harassment!

Through June, we’re organizing an Inspire Campaign to encourage and support new ideas focusing on addressing harassment toward Wikimedia contributors. The 2015 Harassment Survey has shown evidence that harassment in various forms - name calling, threats, discrimination, stalking, and impersonation, among others - is pervasive. Available methods and systems to deal with harassment are also considered to be ineffective. These behaviors are clearly harmful, and in addition, many individuals who experience or witness harassment participate less in Wikimedia projects or stop contributing entirely.

Proposals in any language are welcome during the campaign - research projects, technical solutions, community organizing and outreach initiatives, or something completely new! Update regarding Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons tutorial videos

Hello,

I regret to inform you that the series of motivational and educational videos project, which had been planned introduce Wikipedia and some of its sister projects to new contributors, is being discontinued.

There are multiple factors that have led to this decision. The initial budget and time estimates were far too small for a project of this scale and complexity. Also, my simultaneous involvement in Cascadia Wikimedians User Group was problematic due to the shortage of human resources for the user group, which resulted in my spending far more time trying to help the user group than I had planned, so my time and attention were diverted from this video project to assisting the user group.

You can find more information in the final report for the grant.

I regret that this project did not fulfill the hopes that many of us had for it, and I hope that in the future someone with the necessary resources will choose to resume work on it or a similar project. Если у тебя включен русский интерфейс, то по ссылке «перевести» ты по умолчанию попадаешь в русский перевод, и нужно выбирать язык явно. --Kaganer (talk) 14:10, 29 January 2018 (UTC)

[Wikipedia & Education User Group] Updates: November 2018

Greetings,

Integrating Wikimedia with education is a powerful strategy for the outreach of Wikimedia projects. Realising this concept, a group of leaders promoted this and formed the Wikipedia Education Collaborative. After some time, this evolved to become a user group, officially recognised by the Affiliations Committee in June 2018. The user group had its first board elections earlier in September. In the process to formalise activities and give a shape the user group for long-term sustainability, we are now revamping our processes. Thanks for supporting us during incubation stages, we are now inviting you to formally join the user group by following the instructions on the members' page. Being a member will allow you to be a part of this wonderful collaboration and also do interesting stuff.

Video tutorial regarding Wikipedia referencing with VisualEditor

Hi, I have received a grant from WMF to support production of a video tutorial regarding creating references with VisualEditor. I anticipate that the video will be published in March 2019. If this tutorial is well received then I may produce additional tutorials in the future for English Wikipedia and possibly other projects such as Commons and Spanish Wikipedia. WikiGap Challenge

Hi! I noticed that you took part in WikiGap Challenge last year. I just wanted to inform you that we are running the Challenge this year too, to improve the representation of women on Wikipedia! For WikiGap Challenge 2020, the first prize is to go to Geneva and visit UN Human Rights. Writing one of the bonus points articles, about women active in human rights, yields double points in the competition. I hope you join this year too!
