Spam articles on nowiki, nnwiki and others
[edit]Hey there. I noticed that you were listed in the antispam contacts list, so I thought I should reach out. I recently completed an investigation into a massive cross-wiki spam campaign, during which a network of accounts and IP proxies published articles about David Woodard (no; nn; sv; da) and pushed information about him into various other articles (no; nn; sv; da). This affected hundreds of Wikipedia projects, including the Danish, Swedish and both Norwegian projects. The Danish and Bokmål articles were created by the user Swmmng (talk · contribs · CA), and the Nynorsk and Swedish ones by single-purpose accounts Løvenskiold (talk · contribs · CA) and ABBjorklund (talk · contribs · CA) respectively; so I can assume they were all poor-quality machine translations. The Woodard article has already been deleted from over 200 smaller Wikipedias by the global stewards, and individual projects have started deleting their Woodard articles and removing spam information from others. Letting you know, in case you think it's worth taking action on the projects you are involved in. --Grnrchst (talk) 13:35, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you, @Grnrchst for your time and effort in this case. I'll follow this on no:wp and nn:wp. Bw Orland (talk) 16:52, 2 July 2025 (UTC)
