[edit]The Wiki-She Event Rwanda project is an initiative aimed at promoting gender equity and increasing the representation of women in Wikimedia projects, particularly through the creation and improvement of articles related to women in Rwanda. It can contribute to Wikimedia Rwanda and the broader Wikimedia movementby promote gender equality in tech fields and to inspire more women to pursue careers in technology. · By focusing on women and their achievements, the project can help empower female contributors and promote gender balance within the Wikimedia community in Rwanda thereby enhancing representation and diversity within the Wikimedia movement. This outreach will inspire more women to get involved, both in coding and in content creation. · The project can lead to the creation and enhancement of articles about influential Rwandan womenlinking the technical skills gained through coding with practical applications in Wikimedia projects, thus enriching the diversity of content available on Wikimedia platforms and providing a more inclusive historical narrative. By documenting the achievements and contributions of women in Rwanda, the project will playa vital role in preserving cultural heritage and history, ensuring that future generations recognize these important figures.
This will be achieved by Organizing training sessions and workshops for women contributors by enhancing their skills in editing, writing, and using Wikimedia projects effectively. This can increase the number of active contributors from Rwanda. Last but not least we will host awareness campaigns about the importance of gender representation in media and online resources to engage the public and motivate more contributions. In conclusion, the Wiki-She Rwanda project will have the potential to significantly enhance the representation of women in Wikimedia projects, promote gender equality, and contribute positively to the broader Wikimedia community in Rwanda. We’re excited to invite you to an inspiring global virtual gathering: the first Capacity Exchange Translat-a-thon.
Together with Language Diversity Hub, the Capacity Exchange (CapX) team will host its first Translation Marathon dedicated to ensuring linguistic equity in access to this amazing tool aimed to connect Wikimedians.
If you enjoy contributing to Wikimedia projects through translating and adapting content into different languages, this event is for you! Join us in the celebration of the multilingual spirit of the Wikimedia Movement at an event where communities that contribute in diverse languages will be able to share local knowledge and collaborate across borders.
