Implement my suggestion to filter 384

In addition to opting out dewiki, could you implement my update to the repeating characters filter? I opted out some wikis that have their own filters, including the English Wikivoyage, and have done some optimizations:

equals_to_any(page_namespace, 0, 1, 4, 5, 1198) &
!("autoconfirmed" in user_rights) &
(
    characters := "[bcdfghjklmnpqrstvwxz]{6,}";
    consonants := "([^_:.,*'|=#}{0 -]{1,9})\1{7}";
    match := characters + "|" + consonants;

    (
        (
            added_lines rlike characters &
            !(removed_lines rlike characters)
        ) | (
            rmwhitespace(added_lines) rlike consonants &
            !(rmwhitespace(removed_lines) rlike consonants)
        )
    ) &
    !(added_lines rlike ("<\s*(?:code|source|syntaxhighlight)|(?:data\s*:|https?:\/\/)\S*?(?:" + match + ")")) &
    !(rcount("(?:^|\n)[!|]|<br>", added_lines) > rcount("(?:^|\n)[!|]|<br>", removed_lines)) &
!(equals_to_any(wiki_name, "cawiki", "ckbwiki", "cswiki", "dewiki", "enwikibooks", "enwikivoyage", "eswiki", "etwiki", "fawiki", "fawikivoyage", "frwiki", "frwikibooks", "frwikiquote", "frwikiversity", "glwiki", "itwiki", "nlwiki", "simplewiki", "wikidatawiki"))
) &
global_user_editcount < 50

Speedy deletion requirement

SHB2000, Hello, I happy to see you with sysop privileges at metawiki but I here to telling you something Today I nominated two page as spam on metawiki but in present time they are not deleted by any sysop please see my today's contributions and you're contributions are Valuable for us.Happy editing! --- Bhairava7(@píng mє-tαlk mє) 13:58, 7 January 2025 (UTC)

If you're talking about User:Obiorabesttoll and Salman Farsi, I think they were eventually deleted? Is that what you meant? --SHB (tc) 21:39, 7 January 2025 (UTC)
Yes, that is what I meant and was asking for these two articles to be removed, which were later deleted by Xaosflux then you replied to me.Happy editing! --- Bhairava7(@píng mє-tαlk mє) 05:38, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
Ah, righto – yeah Meta admins aren't nearly as active as say enwiki or Commons, so it might take some time for CSD-related deletion requests to be processed. --SHB (tc) 07:16, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for you're reply but I have few concern releated to global rollback, I think to nominate self for global rollback to easy to remove vandalism on multiple wikis in minutes via SWViewer and I have rollback on multiple wikis, can you give me you're opinion I'm eligible for global rollback? my previously username is Aviram7 I use SWViewer from 3 year when I got rollback permission on hiwiki wiki but after renaming my username I've restart reverting vandalism from O edits at SWViewer.Happy editing --- Bhairava7(@píng mє-tαlk mє) 07:26, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
Hmm I'd probably say neutral for now – purely due to your edit matrix being the way it is right now, but I reckon you can give it a shot once you've got a more extensive edit matrix tbh. --SHB (tc) 07:28, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
Thank you for reply but I thought you're means is crosswiki activity is not enough of mine for requesting global rollback,I have need to more reverts vandal and antispam from several wikis Via SWViewer for 1 months or more. Happy editing --- Bhairava7(@píng mє-tαlk mє) 07:38, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
I'd say there's no hard and fast rule, feel free to take my opinion with a grain of salt – but do request GR when you feel you have a decent cross-wiki matrix and trust your judgment. :) --SHB (tc) 07:53, 8 January 2025 (UTC)
Hmmm; Thanks a lot for given you're important opinion of me as global sysop and global rollbacker.  :)--- Bhairava7(@píng mє-tαlk mє) 07:59, 8 January 2025 (UTC)

Request

Hi @SHB2000: just that your thought appeared at the top of my head, could you please delete all of the /2025/ redirects from Special:Contributions/RamzyM_(WMF) (AffCom health report). This is because the spaces need to be entirely clean for 2025 reports when submitted. /2025/ should not redirect to /2024/ as such it is a broken/implausible redirect. A more detailed reason is at here in myn response to Ramzy. signed, Aafi (DCW) (talk) 08:27, 14 January 2025 (UTC)

Done – I think I deleted all the /2025/ redirects, though I don't know if I missed any. --SHB (tc) 09:00, 14 January 2025 (UTC)
all perfect. Thank you. signed, Aafi (DCW) (talk) 14:55, 15 January 2025 (UTC)

Wikimedia Forum

Thanks for the housekeeping at Wikimedia Forum. I'd shorten the protection, as I doubt most users are autoconfirmed here. e 10:13, 23 January 2025 (UTC)

Most users who have a need to edit the page will be autoconfirmed. --SHB (tc) 10:37, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
Possibly. The barrier at Meta:Autoconfirmed users is fairly low and would have saved us some of the recent stuff.
I recall first wanting to comment on the steward request page to notice that this wasn't possible. I noticed since, that I could have used the talk page of that, but then responded at the user's page. e 10:43, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
Most genuinely new users aren't gonna spend their first few edits editing pages like SRG or Wikimedia Forum (though it might not be the case for "new" users). Thus the chances of a user actually being hit by the protection is very low, and even then there are workarounds to it. --SHB (tc) 11:17, 23 January 2025 (UTC)

Hi, I'm not endorsing the request or criticizing your revert, but just wanted to note that this looks like a legitimate unblock request (though written in Roman-transliterated Hindi) related to the poster's block by SM7 on Hindi Wikipedia (their use of {{unblock}} was obviously not correct). That said, it does seem that SM7 doesn't generally entertain messages related to other wikis here on his Meta talk page. Svārtava (tɕ) 05:56, 8 February 2025 (UTC)

French: Je me demandais combien de reverts vous avez besoin pour patrouilleur ? Cactus🌵 spiky ouch 10:10, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
I would say the answer is it depends and there is no hard and fast rule. What sysops do look out for is, though, is a clear history of reverts, autopatroller (which you already have), generally no active blocks and someone who knows what the scope of this project is. Having rollbacker on other projects will also strengthen your case. If you do feel you meet this criteria, feel free to request at WM:RFH (I'll leave it for another sysop since I gave you autopatroller). //shb (tc) 10:30, 2 March 2025 (UTC)

Anyone you know who does? Cactus🌵 spiky ouch 12:35, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
@Cactusisme, a translation admin here. if you are looking to learn how to be a translation administrator (TA), there are some stuff to follow. What you did was a start, but there is still some way to go. In addition to the Translate extension’s guidelines about marking a page for translation:, on Meta here as well there is also Meta:Internationalization guidelines.
In your work above, there are stuff that you don't need to do, i.e. putting that <!-- T1 --> tags as this will be generated automatically by the extension when a TA marks the page for translation. This is important as you do not want old translated strings to appear out of place. There are some other issues as well in your work, i.e. placement of <translate>, etc.
Here's the diff of a page that I recently tagged up which you can take as reference, and the next revision after all that work is what the extension does when I mark the page for translation. Robertsky (talk) 01:08, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

@Cactusisme again, please read the internationalisation guidelines. i have corrected some of the stuff there. also please make that for each paragraph or separate line item, the tvar names are unique. for formatnum, you can wrap it in a tvar. Robertsky (talk) 08:49, 8 March 2025 (UTC)

Delete question - Extremaduran Wikipedia

Hello

This article, [1], refered to the country of Liechtenstein. But Lístestain was a free translation made by one of the first users of the wiki of the country's name to how it would sound in Extremaduran. Actually, in the published spelling rules of extremaduran languge, the name of the country is Liechtenstein ([2]) and the Lístestain form does not appear in any source, so I decided to delete the redirect Sa~eswiki (talk) 23:19, 30 March 2025 (UTC)

How can I demand to be an administrator in Ido Wiktionary?

Hi, global Sysop, how are you? My name is João Xavier Mendes, io:User:Joao Xavier, and one of the few administrators of Ido Wikipedia and a frequent collaborator in Ido Wiktionary. Til recently, we had a (sole but persistant and dedicated) administrator in Ido Wiktionary, but he's not collaborating anymore since a few months. We urgent need another administrator to perform tasks, i.e., block vandals, erase mistakenly written pages, and so on.

How and where can I demand to be an administrator for Ido Wiktionary? (forgive me if this text has grammatical errors, because English is not my native language).

Best regards from São Paulo, Brazil. Joao Xavier (talk) 12:07, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

Hi, Joao Xavier, no need to apologise. First you'd need to post a request for sysop at a certain venue – usually a Requests for adminship page if you have one, or your community portal (such as w:io:Wikipedio:Portalo di la komunitato). After then you've just got to wait for a community response and after 7 days, you can make a request at SRP. Most likely you'll have to renew your sysop bit every so often given the size of iowiki, but that shouldn't pose too much of an issue so long as you remember to renew it before it expires. Hope that helps! //shb (tc) 12:17, 11 April 2025 (UTC)

Is there any reason why the RfC was closed?

Requests for comment/I feel disgusted by Wikimedia and Wikipedia was closed when I was about to explain. Unless it's about technicality in which I should've mentioned concerned people, which in that case may amount to >25 individuals, and I feel like it's like I'm challenging some perpetrators. RXerself (talk) 10:31, 21 May 2025 (UTC)

Including high-ranking individuals. RXerself (talk) 11:08, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
It's completely outside the scope of what Requests for comment is for. You may use it for conflict resolution (however, if it includes UCoC violations, please file a U4C case), but that's not what your RfC was about. //shb (tc) 10:35, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
How does it is outside the scope? It says, "... processes by which broader input can be requested." What do you think that RfC was about? RXerself (talk) 11:10, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
You didn't ask for input, though, or at least not on the RfC itself. //shb (tc) 11:21, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
"Hi. I need your input on how not to ..." RXerself (talk) 11:42, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
And literally nobody understood what you were asking input for – which is pretty much the equivalent of not asking for input at all. I don't get what point you're trying to make here. //shb (tc) 12:34, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
So when no one understood, I shouldn't explain more? RXerself (talk) 12:39, 21 May 2025 (UTC)

U4C election guide

Hello SHB2000,
Thank you for your work on the U4C election guide. You are doing a very thorough job!
I am writing to you because I would like to share a reflection with you.
The amount of public/visible work of a U4C member is (my personal opinion) about 15 percent of the total work in the Committee. For instance we have reached an agreement that when something we have drafted together in other spaces is ready to be published the first who has time to move the content (motions, pages, tables and so on) does the job. As a result sometimes the "Meta content creators" (and so the more "visible" members) are not necessarily the most active ones but only those who had time in that moment. All this to say that judging performance based only the public work seems not completely fair to me, on the other hand I totally understand that you cannot form and express an opinion about what can't be seen.
I'm absolutely not trying to influence your opinion but I am wondering if that opinion about Luke081515 in your election guide could be expressed, or at least started, in a less categorical way? Thank you. Civvì (talk) 13:35, 26 May 2025 (UTC)

Hey Civvì, thanks for an insight for what goes on internally. :) I'll admit as you say that I only know what's going on externally and I have also received an email about Luke's dewiki ArbCom work saying the same. I think I will probably change the overall colour from red to amber given what you've mentioned. //shb (tc) 00:02, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
Hi shb, currently being a bureaucrat is green in the table, but having served as an arb for 6 years (= working on conflict resolution) is red? Ghilt (talk) 09:07, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
I look at raw perms; personally, I'm of the belief that it's hard to know what to do with certain perms if you don't have them yourself. Luke is probably the exception to the norm here, but I'd rather not let the table get messy with creating exceptions and such. //shb (tc) 09:22, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
I understand. But the key qualification 'handling conflict' is imo heavily undervaluated in comparison to current B perms, which have very little overlap with our job. Ghilt (talk) 10:25, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
Maybe I'll add a hatnote about Luke's dewiki ArbCom bit. //shb (tc) 10:32, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
Thanks, Ghilt (talk) 10:59, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
Luke is not arb anymore, so Denis would not be the 3. but the 2. DeArb in the u4c, if elected. He would be the 3. person from de.wp. Ghilt (talk) 14:47, 28 May 2025 (UTC)
Luke was still a member of dewiki's ArbCom, though, and he left on good terms, meaning the COI issues don't exactly vanish. //shb (tc) 00:34, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
Where do you think the COI occurs, because we haven't had a dewiki case yet in the u4c? And hopefully we will have enough members without COI, so that recusal doesn't cause procedural issues anymore. Ghilt (talk) 08:14, 29 May 2025 (UTC)

The administrative limits of the name of my city and governorate are incorrect and accurate in the open maps, and the notes were placed, but they were not dealt with correctly and accurately. Please, I need help in correcting the administrative boundaries of the Jazan province, as the drawing of its borders in the open maps came based on a file from the Ministry of Health in the occurrence of a pandemic and the Corona pandemic. The math ...

Hi SHB2000, thanks for your consideration on my candidacy in your guide. While I understand your thoughts about too many Germans, I think there is something wrong in the numbers: "a committee that consists of 8–9 members (meaning 33–38% of the committee would be dewiki ArbCom/ex-ArbCom members)" The percentage you calculate would only be possible in the case, that I would be the sole non-incumbent candidate to succeed and replacing either Civvi or Barkeep49. Though the current U4C indeed consists of only 8 members, the least outcome of these elections will hopefully be growth, maybe even up to the full 16 seats. It is tough to do math in a rather unpredictable enviroment, thus it might help to drop the percentage and to clarify the statement on the size of the U4C. Especially as your basic thought does not need it. Thanks and all the best, Denis Barthel (talk) 18:40, 28 May 2025 (UTC)

The maths here isn't super relevant, but even if we're being super generous, that's still 30 per cent of U4C. I don't get what you mean by "Especially as your basic thought does not need it.", because being the third member (or ex-member) of dewiki ArbCom is precisely the point. //shb (tc) 03:43, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
Yep, being a third member is the point. It was just about that the U4C having up to 16 seats, not 8-9 (resulting in a spread of 19-38%). Best, Denis Barthel (talk) 08:54, 29 May 2025 (UTC)
I suppose, but realistically I can't see more than 10 members for the next election based on how current candidates with similar experience have fared in previous years. //shb (tc) 09:36, 29 May 2025 (UTC)

Could you please delete my ill RfA from 3 years ago

Since my ill-considered RfA from 3 years ago, I have learned not to be power-hungry or to make adminship my primary goal on Wikimedia, and have acquired so many other good contributions, especially to ENWP, TAWY, and Meta, that my global edit count totals just over 3,000. So basically, that flunked RfA isn't necessary to keep on Meta anymore, is it? While I'm still definitely not ready for Meta sysop now, I've gained much more experience since my flunked request. So is it possible you could delete Meta:Requests for adminship/Faster than Thunder? P.S. It's scary for me to look at now that I've gained a lot more experience. Faster than Thunder (talk) 06:30, 7 June 2025 (UTC)

@Faster than Thunder: Hey, I definitely get where you're coming from (secondhand embarrassment from old mistakes is not something we want to see), but I don't think Meta admins are allowed to delete past RfAs – both as per WM:CSD and because RfA territory lies within bureaucrat territory. Pinging @M7, Sotiale, and Xaosflux: for their thoughts on this, but my instinct is it probably shouldn't be deleted for archival reasons. //shb (tc) 08:22, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
(non-bureaucrats comment) RFA/B/CU/OS-(e)s are kept for archival and historical, so they cannot be deleted. – Phương Linh (T · C · CA · L · B) 08:29, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
Agree, this is a community discussion, it certainly doesn't qualify for speedy deletion. Being able to point to an old request during a new request allows an applicant to be able to show that they have become more experienced. If the OP really wants to push this, they could engage the community via Meta:Requests for deletion - though I expect it would (a) fail, and (b) show a lack of experience. — xaosflux Talk 08:55, 7 June 2025 (UTC)
Same as Xaosflux, RfA's are archived. I also notice that the closing bureaucrat @MF-Warburg has not been pinged, it seems to me that she should be informed about this request. --M/ (talk) 11:07, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
Whoops, seems I've forgotten to include her – my apologies. //shb (tc) 11:26, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
No worries, I have nothing to add - the request shouldn't be deleted. -- MF-W 12:29, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
Late to the party, but I agree with the above. There is a beginning for everyone. All the first pages I created on Wikipedia had to go through deletion discussions.. --Sotiale (talk) 13:08, 15 June 2025 (UTC)

U4C case

Hello SHB2000,
You are named in a recently filed request to the Universal Code of Conduct Coordinating Committee (U4C). Please review the request at Universal Code of Conduct/Coordinating Committee/Cases/2025/Wikimedia Discord Block (BZPN).

You are requested to enter your statement and any other material you wish to submit, so that the U4C can get a better overview of the situation. All writing should be complete, but also as concise as possible. Please ensure that you make all comments in your own section and in the discussion section only. If the U4C makes a decision, this will be binding for you and so your participation is recommended.

Please do not reply here, but on the linked case page, or on the associated talk page. If you would like to contact the U4C directly, you will find an e-mail address here. Please use the email only if privacy is necessary (e.g. personal information).

Autopatrol

Hi SHB2000, I would like to kindly request autopatrolled rights on Meta-Wiki. I’ve had my account since 2022 and have been active mainly in translation work and reporting vandals for global locks. I believe having the autopatrolled flag would help reduce the workload for patrollers and make my contributions smoother. Thanks in advance for considering my request! Best regards, Igor123121 (talk) 21:22, 28 June 2025 (UTC)

Hmm, a bit hesitant on this one primarily due to your plwiki block (which seems to be for low-quality edits). I'd preferably leave this to a Polish speaker (cc @AramilFeraxa:). //shb (tc) 01:58, 29 June 2025 (UTC)
Cześć @Igor123121! Wykonałeś bardzo mało edycji tutaj, aby stwierdzić, czy można bez obaw przyznać Ci uprawnienia. Patrząc jedynie na ogólne zaufanie (warunek "trusted users"), to tutaj niestety wyklucza Cię wspomniana blokada permanentna na plwiki :( Pozdrawiam, AramilFeraxa (talk) 20:04, 29 June 2025 (UTC)

Hi, you've done very little edits here on meta to determine if you can be granted this rights without concern. Request for Comment

Hello User:SHB2000,

I hope you're doing well. I’m reaching out to kindly invite you to review and, if possible, comment on a recently opened Request for Comment (RfC) regarding my indefinite block on the Uzbek Wikipedia.

The RfC provides detailed context, including newly surfaced evidence, concerns about procedural fairness, and potential abuse of power within the local community.

RfC title: **“Appeal to Reconsider the Indefinite Block of User:Baxtiyorov Laziz on Uzbek Wikipedia”** 🔗 Link: https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Request_for_Comment/Appeal_to_Reconsider_the_Indefinite_Block_of_User:Baxtiyorov_Laziz_on_Uzbek_Wikipedia

Your feedback, review, or any advice would mean a lot to me — especially as local appeal mechanisms have proven ineffective or inactive.

Thank you very much in advance for your time and attention.

Warm regards,

Laziz Baxtiyorov (talk) 11:22, 16 July 2025 (UTC)

@Laziz Baxtiyorov: Hi, I probably won't comment given I'm not well versed with the situation, but wouldn't U4C be a better venue to take this to rather than a Meta RfC? //shb (tc) 11:28, 16 July 2025 (UTC)
Thank you very much for your response and for your thoughtful suggestion.
You're absolutely right — several other experienced users have also advised me to bring the case to the U4C. I have now prepared a formal appeal and plan to submit it to the U4C team as well.
I really appreciate you taking the time to respond, even if you’re not deeply involved in the case. It means a lot.
Best regards,

My condition

As an autistic [removed], I interpret things literally by default, so I have unfortunately gotten into blocks on multiple wikis and even ended up returning to three years ago due to repeatedly failing to get what the community has been trying to tell me. My blocks on Wikivoyage and Wikipedia show this as well. As a result, I have created User:Faster than Thunder#What I've learned from my mistakes throughout Wikimedia where I list my lessons in my own, generalized words so that I and others like me are less likely to get into the same place I currently am since these are in simpler words. Your conduct

Chealer, this warning of yours precisely highlights why your global ban discussion is going the way it is. Nothing that needs to be done from me. //shb (tc) 05:54, 10 August 2025 (UTC)
This reply of yours largely highlights why you requested such a ban: reacting without reading (and cooling down) leads to escalation. The above is not merely a "warning", but a request/demand reminding you of your obligations when participating to Wikimedia projects. Chealer (talk) 06:57, 11 August 2025 (UTC)

SHB2000’s behavior

After SHB2000 gained global sysop permissions, made a frivolous request to ban myself, and refused to retract it despite the above report, I have started a summary review of his activity. If you experienced or witnessed other unresolved and worrying difficulties involving SHB2000 such as other violations of policy or the code of conduct, your contribution would be welcome.

I have yet to review this other ban request from him. Chealer (talk) 06:53, 11 August 2025 (UTC)

Chealer, I find it ironic that despite overwhelming consensus that your behaviour overall is piss poor with strong consensus to globally ban you, the best you could do was turn that into a discussion about me? Absolutely comical. //shb (tc) 06:57, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
Please watch your language. And once again, stop misrepresenting reality. Thank you for complying with the above before making further unconstructive comments. Chealer (talk) 07:10, 11 August 2025 (UTC)

You have been awarded this Barnstar

The Admin's Barnstar
This barnstar is awarded to SHB2000, for taking the time to do the thankless task of preparing a user sanctions nomination along with all the evidence required in order to protect projects from the disruptive influence of a now globally banned user, and seeing it through to completion. And for taking it on, despite being aware that the user's behavior pattern meant they likely would be setting themself up a target of abuse—which did in fact occur, as this page and the nomination bear witness. The community owes you their thanks and appreciation. This barnstar is the very least it can do. Thank you! Mathglot (talk) 20:36, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
I don't know if Meta even has barnstars really, but this talk page was wildly out of whack with the two abusive comment sections above it, and something had to be done to restore balance. There; that's better, now. Mathglot (talk) 20:36, 11 August 2025 (UTC)
@Mathglot: Thank you, I really do appreciate it :). It certainly was one of the nastiest users I've ever come across and I'm glad their time on-wiki is finally over. It helped that Chealer did a very good job of alienating those who were indifferent at first, too (making this a much easier task than my last one) :P. //shb (tc) 23:46, 11 August 2025 (UTC)

Problems with the abuse filters

Hi! I think there are big problems with the abuse filters for the moment at meta.wikimedia.org and also on many different language versions of Wikipedia. Before temporary accounts were introduced it was like this for non-logged in users: user_age was 0, user_editcount was null, global_user_editcount was 0. Now they all have values, which means that many filters that use these variables do not work anymore. It is common with checks whether a user is logged in or not with the code 'user_age == 0'. Those checks do not work anymore since user_age has a value also for non-logged in users from now on. Another thing, if you in a filter not do like this: '! "autoconfirmed" in user_groups', you cannot do like this anymore: 'user_editcount < 50'. You have to write like this: '(user_type == "temp" | user_editcount < 50)'. Otherwise the expression can be false for a non-logged in user even though the original intention was that the expression should always be true for such a user. At least these filters need to be changed on meta.wikimedia.org because of the problem with user_editcount/global_user_editcount: 6, 34, 36, 79, 80, 87, 88, 161, 282, 291, 349, 353, 384 (and not activated 206). And at least these filters need to be changed on meta.wikimedia.org because of the problem with user_age: 131 and maybe 150. I can only see very few of the filters on meta.wikimedia.org. So it is probably many more that need to be changed. Svensson1 (talk) 20:22, 15 September 2025 (UTC)

Hmm @Codename Noreste:, could you perhaps handle this? //shb (tc) 22:37, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
@Svensson1 So are you explaining that user_editcount < 50 will eventually become false if a temporary account has more than 50 edits? I can do this. Codename Noreste (talk) 23:33, 15 September 2025 (UTC)
Now implemented. Codename Noreste (talk) 00:04, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
Good, but I only mentioned the filters that are public (that I can see). Most filters on Meta-Wiki are private, so I think some people should look through all filters on Meta-Wiki for this type of errors. Quite a big job. Maybe too big a job for one person to do. TAIV at RFH

Some users (GR, GS, checkuser etc) can get global access automatically, but if you don't have access through that, you need to request it locally - and if you're interested, admins can't go around granting it either, users interested in having it have to go and make a request. --Ferien (talk) 11:37, 31 October 2025 (UTC)

Interesting – I remember sometime when it was automatically assigned to everyone who reached the criteria (last year I think), so I was somewhat under te impression that this had changed just without assigning a specific usergroup. Good to know it's changed, though, and thanks for the explanation. :) //shb (tc) 11:56, 31 October 2025 (UTC)

Join us for “Many Tongues, One Movement: Voices Across Languages”!

Hello SHB2000/2025,

We’re excited to invite you to an inspiring global virtual gathering: the first Capacity Exchange Translat-a-thon.

Together with Language Diversity Hub, the Capacity Exchange (CapX) team will host its first Translation Marathon dedicated to ensuring linguistic equity in access to this amazing tool aimed to connect Wikimedians.
If you enjoy contributing to Wikimedia projects through translating and adapting content into different languages, this event is for you! Join us in the celebration of the multilingual spirit of the Wikimedia Movement at an event where communities that contribute in diverse languages will be able to share local knowledge and collaborate across borders.
Many Tongues, One Movement: Voices Across Languages

  • Date: December 6, 2025
  • Time: 12 PM (UTC) - Check the event page for your local timezone
  • Location: Online (Meta-Wiki + live session links)

If you can’t join the live event, you can still contribute to the translations! Edits will be counted for two weeks, until December 20th. And everyone who participates will receive a special badge to display on their CapX profiles.

Strengthen your collaboration through CapX

We invite you and your community to join the Capacity Exchange (CapX), a Wikimedia community-built platform for connecting, collaborating, and exchanging skills with peers across the movement.

CapX helps Wikimedians and organizations find each other, share expertise, and build stronger, more connected communities.

Whether you’re an individual contributor, a user group, a community initiative or an affiliate, CapX helps you grow through knowledge exchange.

@Joris Darlington Quarshie: Why was I sent this? //shb (tc) 11:52, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
@SHB2000, My apologies, this list was taken from the all language users category and I noticed that approvals was not requested earlier before it was sent out. So it caused a lot errors which flooded the mass message list. This will not be happening again. After noticing the damage it caused. My apologies for this. Hey...

From what I've seen, you're a good global sysop. If you ran for Steward, I'd vote for you if I could. High five, Another Wiki User the 3rd (talk) 16:44, 1 December 2025 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind words, Another Wiki User the 3rd! :). I'll definitely consider it for sure. //shb (tc) 21:15, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
