We need your feedback on a tool from the Wikimedia Summit
[edit]
Hi! I'm contacting you as one of the participants in the Wikimedia Summit 2022, to kindly ask for your feedback through a 5-10 minute survey to evaluate 'Baserow' (note: the survey is on a Google form).
Baserow was a tool through which participants in the Summit co-created a database of Movement Strategy activities. We hope to learn from you how useful it may be to keep using it in the future to help document and connect on Movement Strategy work.
You are welcome and encouraged to fill out the survey in any language. Your feedback would be very appreciated --Abbad (WMF) (talk) 14:52, 16 February 2023 (UTC).

Personal Invitation to the Open Innovation Café volume 2 of Wikimedia Deutschland
[edit]Hello @ShahenWasHere:
We asked – you delivered: After asking all our stakeholders for input through our Open Innovation Café volume 1, a survey and interviews, we have collected the research data and compiled some insightful problem statements. These cover the needs and challenges our Movement faces in innovating in Free Knowledge – quite eye-opening!
Join us at our Open Innovation Café volume 2 to hear about what we have found and how we will use these insights in building a new innovation format for the Wikimedia Movement. Maybe some insights will also be helpful in your community work as well?

Invitation to Serve as a Judge for the Wikimania Poster Session
[edit]My name is Victoria Doronina, and I am a part of the organising team for the Wikimania 2025 Poster Session. I'm inviting you to serve as a judge for the Poster Session at Wikimania 2025. As someone deeply engaged in the Wikimedia movement and currently a candidate for the Board of Trustees, your insights and experience would bring tremendous value to the evaluation of this year’s posters.
The judging process would involve reviewing posters online and providing a score. You can score as many posters as you have time for.
We would be honoured if you could join us in recognising and encouraging the innovative work of Wikimedians from around the world. Please let me know as soon as possible if you are available to participate so that I can share the scoring sheet with you - just write me an email: vdoroninaATwikimedia.org
I must say that this is not a part of the election process, please feel free to decline.
Thank you for considering this invitation. Victoria (talk) 09:46, 24 July 2025 (UTC)
- Hey there, @Victoria!
- Thank you for the invitation, I truly appreciate the opportunity! :)

Get started with the Lua interface to simplify the preparation of modules for translation in MetaWiki
[edit]Greetings!
The Language and Product Localization team has developed a Lua interface to simplify the preparation of Lua modules for translation in the MetaWiki platform. This means that module developers can now use the new Lua interface to load translatable strings, and the translators can translate them in the same translation interface that is used for templates and wiki pages.
This improvement makes it easier for translators to find and edit module strings without dealing with raw Lua code. It helps prevent mistakes that could break the module during translation.
We invite you to watch our demo video and read more about translatable modules to understand how it works. Please give us your feedback on this talk page on how well the Lua interface addresses the challenges in your workflow and how useful it is in module localization tasks. You can also refer to Module:User Wikimedia project, which was recently converted to utilize these messages, for example usage.
Your feedback is important as it will help us evaluate and decide how to continue developing and improving this interface, extend it to other wikis, or change our approach.
Thank you, and we anticipate your honest feedback.

Thank you! And update on 2025 Board of Trustees selection process
[edit]Dear ShahenWasHere,
Today, the Wikimedia Foundation Board announced the final ballot of four candidates for the 2025 Board of Trustees selection process. This year, the candidate selection process included both periods of candidate review before community voting: an affiliate shortlisting process, and a process of Board review. While you are not one of the candidates on the final ballot, I want to thank you on behalf of the Board for putting yourself forward and dedicating so much of your volunteer time to the Board selection process.
As the outgoing Board Chair, I also want to encourage you to continue to explore leadership and governance positions in the movement, and to consider participating in future Board elections and other movement positions. Developing leaders for our movement, including growing future Trustees, is very important for me and for the Board, and we want to support you in future leadership opportunities. If you have any feedback on your experience as a candidate, I invite you to share it with me or with other members of the Board.
Thank you again, and I hope to see you around the wikis!
Best regards,
Nataliia Tymkiv
Chair, Wikimedia Foundation

Updates from Capacity Exchange (CapX)!
[edit]
Hello ShahenWasHere,
My name is Joris Darlington Quarshie, and I am an Outreach Facilitator for the Capacity Exchange (CapX) — a platform for finding and connecting with peers to exchange knowledge and skills on a global level.
CapX is a community-built tool, designed by and for the Wikimedia Movement, to make it easier for Wikimedians across the world to find and connect, collaborate, and exchange skills and knowledge with peers.
If you don't know it yet, I invite you to access capx.toolforge.org and create your user profile with your Wikimedia account. But, if you already have a profile, I invite you to check out the new features and possibilities we just launched. I am sure you will be delighted.
CapX's new version incorporates valuable community feedback gathered over the past months, including the Organization Profile - a feature for Wikimedia affiliates, initiatives, or community groups to create their own CapX presence (see here how to create yours).
