Thank you for your response, now published. For setting status, visit the page and see the right and middle of the page. You'll find a pull-down menu (default: unset). Then select one from "in progress" to "ready" and then click the "set" button. Now it's published so you have not to touch it again, just for your further reference. Translation of April Wikimedia Highlights[edit]

Hi Shanmugamp7,

thanks for contributing the Tamil translation of the current Wikimedia Highlights! Note that has been a small correction in the Financials section of the original which would be good to be reflected in the translated version. As noted on Translators-l, it is planned to announce completed translations tomorrow (Wednesday), do you think this might be sufficient time to complete the Tamil version? (Feel free to point out translation difficulties or ask clarification questions on the talk page.)

Hi Goldenburg111, Thanks for your contributions but I guess you have used Google translate which has very poor quality. Please avoid using machine translation tools for Tamil. I will try to proofread and fix Grants:Index/ta. You are always welcome to contribute to Tamil wiki but please do not use machine translation tools :), you can do maintenance works like adding category, templates, etc.. Global account[edit]

Hi! Sorry for bothering you on your user discussion but I don't know how can I solve my problem. I changed my username to another on Polish Wikipedia (pl:User:Skrzeczu94 -> pl:User:Tufor). Before this change I had global acoount and was thinking that nobody's got account "Tufor" on another Wiki. But on en:wiki there was somebody who in deed had that username and made 3 contributions (in 2007) to the Project. So I ended up with account only on Polish Wikipedia and I would like to still have global account. I hope you can tell me what to do, where to write a request. Thank you for your help. I already have usurped "Tufor" nickname on en wiki and it's just a matter of time on ro wiki. But still have one little question. I have some contributions made as "Skrzeczu94" at other projects, like commons (link) and it's not "transfered" to nickname "Tufor". Translate some names for hundreds software projects including MediaWiki[edit]

As you know, Wikimedia projects exist in almost 300 languages; supporting them all is a big effort so we partner with other organisations. One small but visible thing we miss is that many interwiki links in sidebar (among others) don't offer a translation of the language name when hovered. We're now able to translate 100 more language names in your language.

Central notice for wiki loves food[edit]

Howdy. I saw you created/turned on the wikil loves food campaign. I would like to suggest/request you lower the priority of these banners, they are showing up a lot in India (I'm sure you already know, just in case you don't). I don't know about any new developments recently, but I think banner fatigue was something the staff and the community wanted to avoid. This particular banner is showing up a hell of a lot for a lot of people (possibly hundred(s) of million of viewers). It's easy sometimes overlook how much visibility this gets and when that visibility crosses the line into an annoyance. Anyway, I'd just request lowering the priority (it was weightage earlier I think....) for india specific campaigns. I'll leave a similar message for ravi (I didn't see any priority specific request from ravi in his RFH). If you were only acting on his request, please do still keep my point in mind. Thanks. Hi Theo10011, I kept high priority for this campaign as other campaigns already had high priority, it won't show up at all if we didn't keep high. There is some option called 'Limit Traffic', I think we can use that and reduce the traffic but the other campaigns should also reduce the traffic, else you will see one or the other. Request for Input - New Central Notice request process[edit]

Hello!

Back in February I emailed the CN-admin list regarding part of my role to look into the Central Notice process and see where we could make improvements including: the campaign process; its functionality or lack thereof; and fundamentally the documentation that supports it. You can see many of the issues that I identified at CentralNotice/Process_Review. If there is anything additional that you feel has been left out then please feel free to leave any comments on the talk page.

My first task is to improve the requesting of campaigns by communities and affiliates. I am looking to set up a more formal request process, similar to those used in many projects. The aim is to: increase the transparency of Central Notice; improve the support provided to affiliates (including making such support more consistent); to provide a forum for community input into campaigns.

I have been working on a very rough strawman version of the process and I would be interested in hearing you comments about what such a process should involve and what you think it would require. Please feel free to leave such comments at the process talk page section. I would like to have a working page in place by the end of May. This would not need to be a final version. The process can be improved upon over time as we learn about how well it works.

The IP range is blocked because of m:NOP. The block was initially made by another steward so i am not sure how many ip's are abused. I have softened the block long back to allow logged in users to edit. Please create an account and continue your editing. No renaming between November 20 and November 27[edit]

Global locks; not a compromised-account situation[edit]

Question about the global locks process: I don't want to make a formal request, because I'm guessing that it's not (yet?) warranted, and I don't want the user in question to see this as a harassment attempt.

As detailed at d:Wikidata:Administrators'_noticeboard#User:Swineposit and en:Wikipedia:Administrators'_noticeboard#Mass_.28and_probably_multilingual.29_addition_of_unsourced_birth_dates.2C_etc, User:Swineposit has been introducing large amounts of birth/death information to individuals' biographies across many Wikipedias — no problem per se, of course, but this information is typically self-contradictory. For example, as noted by User:Hoary at en:WP:AN, on 11 November Swineposit added birth dates to seven Wikipedias' articles about Dimitrios Maximos (Wikidata link), but significantly different dates: to English and Greek he added 27 March (he also added this date to French on the 15th), to Portuguese and Russian he added 21 March, the Italian he added 17 March, to Dutch he added 3 March, and to Spanish he added 27 February. The WP:AN and WD:AN pages contain lots of information about similar self-contradictory editing on lots of other biographies on lots of other Wikipedias.

Is this something where it could potentially be reasonable to request a global lock? In other words, if I made such a request, would it be considered, or would such a request get an obvious and very quick "no way"? As Hoary notes, it seems reasonable to request a global block for an IP that's doing this kind of thing. This definitely seems like obviously are otherwise being disruptive on multiple wikis, and he's so far gotten one indefinite block and is likely to get a block at Wikidata as well, although I'm unsure of whether he's facing any additional sanctions at other wikis at the moment. My biggest concern is activity — other than leaving some notes at his en:wp talk page over the last few days, his global contributions show that his last edits to any project were on 15 November. Aside from all else I'm thinking that this might automatically make him a non-candidate — thus my reluctance to make a formal request. Nyttend (talk) 22:50, 20 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This can be considered as disruptive editing, but mostly as a general rule we (I) will only lock if they are indef blocked on multiple projects . Since they didn't continue this behavior after the block on en wiki, i think we can wait and monitor his contributions. Maithili Wikimedians Mission 10[edit]

Maithili Wikimedians volunteer members has taken a challenge in itself i.e. Mission 10. The focus and aim of the challenge is to complete 10,000 articles on Maithili Wikipedia before the end of this year 2016. As of November 30, 5,555 articles were made on Maithili Wikipedia. From the 1^st of December until the 31^st of December the challenge will run on Maithili Wikipedia. The challenge is divided on 2 basic parts Online and Offline events. The online event is focused on creating articles and offline parts is about meeting with Maithili speakers from different parts of Nepal.
