Welcome to Meta![edit]

Hello TBloemink, and welcome to the Wikimedia Meta-Wiki! This website is for coordinating and discussing all Wikimedia projects. You may find it useful to read our policy page. If you are interested in doing translations, visit Meta:Babylon. You can also leave a note on Meta:Babel or Wikimedia Forum (please read the instructions at the top of the page before posting there). If you would like, feel free to ask me questions on my talk page. Happy editing! Barras 19:52, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Misunderstanding[edit]

Hello. Earlier today you had me kicked out of the stewards channel. That's alright as I didn't need to be there anymore. I went yesterday to get help about some abuse, but it was solved and I forgot to leave the channel. Still, I don't like to be kicked out, and even less for something I didn't do and know nothing about. I am not this Derp character, I don't know him/her, I never met this person, or you for that matter. I live in Canada, hence the videotron IP, but videotron is a huge provider, it has many clients. In any case, you can see my user page and see my recent activity. My only other wikimedia account, ever, has been with the username Apwith. I created the second account by mistake, since at the time I didn't understand the new global accounts, and I haven't taken the time to find out how to merge them.
Anyway, I hope you realise that you are confusing me with someone else. I wish you a good day! Cheers, Jergas (talk) 20:20, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I did not ban you, but we have had this user on our network a few times this evening. This derp is in Montreal too, and is banned from our channels. I seem to have accused you of being derp wrongly, I'll try to get this sorted. Best regards, TBloemink talk 21:25, 22 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Checking voters in SE[edit]

You might want to check in a centralised way ;-) --MF-W 14:41, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Aha! I'll check that out :) — TBloemink talk 19:08, 22 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Global sysop[edit]

Congratulations with the newly received tools & good luck! I assume you already subscribed to mail:global-sysops? (If not, please do so.) Trijnsteltalk 17:14, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Congrats! :) πr2 (t • c) 17:45, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks :) @Trijnstel, I just did. I did not know there was a mailing list xD — TBloemink talk 17:47, 24 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. If you've requested access to the mailing list, could you please confirm me that fact? Thanks muchly. Best regards. -- MarcoAurelio (talk) 11:32, 2 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Fundraising translation feedback[edit]

Hey TBloemink,

I wanted to ask for your help. As you may be aware we have been running banners on many language wikis. We have a lot of new content this year and I really want to conduct a thorough review of our translations. This is a combination of feedback from the community, readers, donors as well as those with professional translator experience. This will help us ensure the highest quality of translations used in our messaging.

To help us out with this I wonder if you would be willing to give us feedback for Dutch using This Link

Simply follow the simple instructions on that page and if you have any questions feel free to contact me on my talk page.

Many Thanks

Thank you for keeping vandalism low. It was my class that made those unserious edits recently. I had bigger hopes for them. Maybe they'll be better next time. - Averater (talk) 12:11, 14 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Nederlandse vertaling[edit]

Hoi TBloemink, voeg je zelf een Nederlandse vertaling van je statement toe? Vriendelijke groet, Mathonius (talk) 16:29, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Congratulations![edit]

Hello TBloemink,

On behalf of the stewards' election committee, congratulations on your election as a steward! Your permissions have now been set and you are able to start working.

You have been added to the list of stewards and the stewards' chart. Please take a moment to check that your details are accurate and update them if necessary.

You have been given access to the mailing lists related to your steward duties, which include: checkuser-l, the private mailing list for Wikimedia checkusers, stewards-l, the private list for stewards. In addition, you have been or will be given access to the related private wikis, one for checkusers and the other solely for stewards, details of which will be provided.

If you use IRC, you will be given access to several channels, including #wikimedia-checkuserconnect and #wikimedia-privacyconnect. Please also idle in #wikimedia-stewardsconnect when you are available for duty.

Best of luck with your new tools; I am sure you will do a fantastic job. Please remember that your fellow stewards are always available if you need a second opinion, either via the mailing list or on IRC.

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades... (our budget is smaller than Commons)

TBloemink, congratulations! You now have the rights of an administrator on Meta. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, and Meta:Requests for deletion, but also Talk:Spam blacklist and Talk:Interwiki map), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-admin @ irc.freenode.net. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading although it doesn't always completely apply here at Meta.

Please also check or add your entry to Meta:Administrators#List of administrators and the Template:List of administrators. -Barras talk 14:35, 30 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

92.229.80.44 block[edit]

I doubt there is any point for long-term (1 year) blocking of a dynamic IP. Even if it is really on open proxy. Ankry (talk) 22:34, 28 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removed. Thank you for the head up. — TBloemink talk 10:28, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reversed your giving of massmessage rights[edit]

Hi TBloemink. I have reversed your granting of massmessage rights to JurgenNL. English Wikisource received a copy of a massmessage that was signed, and appears to have originated, from JurgenNL. When I checked his application for that right, it did not mention the use which was undertaken, so I removed the right and expressed a view that the user can reapply with a clear expression of the perceived scope of use, and how they will act within their stated scope. To note that I have seen a few similar uses of massmessage to English Wikisource for political expression, and one that has me feel we need to look at a new ethical approach to use of the tool, and a grant of the right that has some accountability. That matter will be one that I will reflect upon, and decide if and how I wish to express that point of view further.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:13, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Addendum. I have already noted my actions on the user's talk page, and against the request for the granting of rights.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:15, 22 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Superprotect letter update[edit]

Hi TBloemink,

Along with more hundreds of others, you recently signed Letter to Wikimedia Foundation: Superprotect and Media Viewer, which I wrote.

Today, we have 562 signatures here on Meta, and another 61 on change.org, for a total of 623 signatures. Volunteers have fully translated it into 16 languages, and begun other translations. This far exceeds my most optimistic hopes about how many might sign the letter -- I would have been pleased to gain 200 siguatures -- but new signatures continue to come.

I believe this is a significant moment for Wikimedia and Wikipedia. Very rarely have I seen large numbers of people from multiple language and project communities speak with a unified voice. As I understand it, we are unified in a desire for the Wikimedia Foundation to respect -- in actions, in addition to words -- the will of the community who has built the Wikimedia projects for the benefit of all humanity. I strongly believe it is possible to innovate and improve our software tools, together with the Wikimedia Foundation. But substantial changes are necessary in order for us to work together smoothly and productively. I believe this letter identifies important actions that will strongly support those changes.

Have you been discussing these issues in your local community? If so, I think we would all appreciate an update (on the letter's talk page) about how those discussions have gone, and what people are saying. If not, please be bold and start a discussoin on your Village Pump, or in any other venue your project uses -- and then leave a summary of what kind of response you get on the letter's talk page.

Finally, what do you think is the right time, and the right way, to deliver this letter? We could set a date, or establish a threshold of signatures. I have some ideas, but am open to suggestions.

Thank you for your engagement on this issue, and please stay in touch. -Pete F (talk) 18:23, 26 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request for Comment[edit]

Beste TBloemink,

Vriendelijke groet, — TBloemink talk 18:43, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Resigning[edit]

My fellow members of the Wikimedia Community,

In line of the recent drama of me and Jurgen visiting the house of another colleague, in which multiple people have expressed their mistrust in both me and Jurgen, I have decided that I want to keep the honor with myself, and will take my own responsibility for this action by stepping down from my position as a steward. I have huge regret that I visited this place, if I could turn back time, I certainly will. Unfortunately, human beings cannot do this. Therefore, it is with a heavy heart that I announce my resigning as a steward.

The time that I have spent as a steward has been a good time. It is such a shame that it had to end this way. I wish to, again, express my sincere apologies to MoiraMoira, and to anyone that had trust in me, that I have disappointed not only MoiraMoira, but in my eyes, the whole community. I take this very personally, and by resigning, I hope to maintain a little bit of trust in the community, and I also hope that I will find the rest in my head that I feel I need now. And I sincerely hope that MoiraMoira can find this rest as quickly as possible. You have my word that I will not do this again.

With best regards,

Tomas Bloemink talk

This definitely I did not expect from you. --Kolega2357 (talk) 22:25, 25 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to publicly thank you for taking responsibility for your actions, and saving the project from drama. I hope you will still contribute to Wikimedia in the future. --Rschen7754 05:31, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
