Help request
[edit]{{help me}} How do I make my user page show certain content when viewed in different languages? For example, I want to translate my user page to Spanish, but don't know how to do that without duplicating visible page content, resulting in an extremely long page. - This isn't something we normally recommend, as it requires translation administrators to get involved - and doesn't work well with using the page as a "global user page" in to other projects. If you want to work on it, start by learning about translation here: mw::Help:Extension:Translate/Page translation example. — xaosflux Talk 11:16, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- @Xaosflux: thank you for your response. What do you suggest I do instead? TheTechie (talk) 19:04, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- Disclaimer I am much less experienced than xaosflux; however I would suggest you could e.g. create a userpage on eswiki and include links from the meta userpage to the spanish one and vice versa. lp0 on fire () 19:16, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- Realistically, that. For projects you participate in, make a local userpage (e.g. w:es:Usuaria:TheTechie) written in the language of the project. You can link them using interwiki links (for example, look at the bottom of my botuser page on eswiki here) - as unlike articles wikidata won't link userpages togther. You can also use in-text links to link to other kind of projects (like meta-wiki, commons, etc). — xaosflux Talk 19:52, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- Alright, thank you both. I will create a separate one for Spanish. TheTechie (talk) 20:35, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
