Wiki Love Ramadan 2026
[edit]Dear WBuloso-WMF,
Thank you for your thoughtful feedback on my Rapid Fund request. I understand that the main concern was the alignment with the 2026 Wiki Loves Africa theme, “Rites and Rituals.”
I would like to seek clarification: would a project such as “Wiki Loves Ramadan 2026 in Africa” be considered eligible under this theme? Ramadan encompasses many cultural and religious rites and rituals observed by communities in Africa, which I believe connects closely with the theme. While Wiki Loves Ramadan is an annual contest similar to Wiki Loves Africa, the latter focuses on different themes each year. I believe this project would ensure continuity in documenting the diverse traditions, practices, heritage, and historical figures associated with Ramadan.
I urge the committee to reconsider the Wiki Loves Ramadan proposal accordingly.

AfroHistory 2.0: Promoting African Legends and Heroes
[edit]Thank you very much for your thoughtful feedback and for taking the time to review my Rapid Fund application. I truly appreciate the effort of the review team in supporting impactful initiatives within the Wikimedia Movement.
While the proposal may appear similar in theme to some previously approved applications in Nigeria, I would like to respectfully clarify that the core focus of this project extends beyond a national scope. The intention is to contribute to documenting African legends and heroes across the continent, addressing a broader gap in the Wikimedia ecosystem related to African historical representation and narratives.
The project is designed to capture content that reflects multiple regions of Africa, including Southern Africa, North Africa, West Africa, East Africa, and Central Africa. As highlighted in the proposal, examples of countries across these regions were identified to ensure the initiative reflects a wider African perspective rather than being limited to Nigeria alone.
There remains a significant gap in the documentation of African historical figures and legends on Wikimedia platforms, and this project aims to help address that gap by creating and improving content that reflects Africa’s diverse heritage and historical development.
In light of this broader continental scope and the long-term value such documentation can bring to the Wikimedia knowledge ecosystem, I would sincerely appreciate it if the committee could kindly reconsider the decision regarding this proposal.
Thank you once again for your time, support, and dedication to strengthening the Wikimedia Movement. I look forward to your positive consideration.
Warm regards, Taofeeq Abdulkareem (talk) 11:01, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
