Slovio cyrillics Convertor[edit]

Hi. The convertor is great, but there is a problem with ch ... it is converted as цх, as the correct is х (you corrected Чецхио -> Чехио on Portal). Can you please fix it? --Zirland 19:38, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

It's because the correct spelling is Cxehio, not Cxechio. It's not the problem with the converter. As far as I know ch is not used in Slovio at all. / tsca 20:49, 7 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Well, right. My bad. But tell me, how to convert hq or hx respectively. These are optional and I an not sure if it's possible to convert.
hq and hx are at this point transliterated as х; a single q is converted into an apostrophe. There is no information on the Slovio page on how it should be done. I've asked on the mailing list. / tsca 10:29, 8 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wikimania[edit]

Hi Zirland, I'm trying to spread the word about Wikimania. We will have an announcement to make in the next days about opening registration to the community, reminding everyone about the conference. While gathering contacts to help distribute the announcement on other projects, I was thinking also about getting feedback from each project once or twice a year. Is there some sort of local newspaper on cs:wp?

Best, Sj 21:14, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

We have no newspaper on cs:wp, only Village pump for announcements. --Zirland 21:56, 3 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Translation combination boxes[edit]

The following text was copied from Meta:Babel#Translation_combination_boxes. As an active translator, it may be of any interest to you:

Hi, Sabine worked on new boxes for translators. They aim at giving information about translation combination: say, I can translate from English to French, from Italian to Spanish, and so on. It would help us to know who can translate what, in what, to streamline the translation process. The boxes do not provide information about your level (wether you are a professional translator or not, for example); you may write something about this point in your user page (very useful as well). A few boxes are available, be bold and create those you need :) Be aware we use ISO 639-3 codes for languages (fra and not fr, eng and not en, ...).

Please see "Translator in the following language combinations" and pick up templates for your user page!
This message was pasted on several User talk pages of active translators.

Thank you :)

Election notice translation[edit]

Thank you, Zirland, for your initiatives on translation of the Election notice! I expect you informed already the page to your community, Check language projects.

I hope your work encourage many Cs editors to be involved. Again, thank you! --Aphaia 09:06, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

My statement[edit]

It would very nice if you would translate my candidture presentation. I prepared the template Election candidates 2006/ArnoLagrange/Cs : there are few words and sentences to translate, it would not take a long time. If you have more time you can also translate all my statement : Election candidates 2006/ArnoLagrange/statement/En - this one is longer ;-) Thanks Arno Lagrange  06:54, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Timichal translated Election candidates 2006/ArnoLagrange/Cs. Thanks to him. Now it remains Election candidates 2006/ArnoLagrange/statement/En ;-) AL  10:31, 28 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Wikinews[edit]

Sure, if you want to go to the Incubator and start translating pages, you are more than welcome to, because you have more than enough votes. I'm not speaking on behalf of the Foundation, but as a community member, though. You still need to get the project approved by the Board once you have an active Czech Wikinews community. Yes, I am a steward (verification ID SA1940) Zirland

Takže gratuluji. -jkb- 11:14, 26 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Meta admin[edit]

Hi, I suggest you request permanent adminship here, now that you're a steward it may come in useful :) Majorly (talk) 18:56, 6 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Just a polite request - please don't give yourself sysop access to projects with active admins, such as this one. Only in the case of mass vandalism should you be doing that. I've noticed you're only deleting test pages when you do, and it's not appropriate. Thanks. Majorly (talk) 15:34, 9 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Per your successful request, you are now a (permanent) admin. Congrats! Please be familiar with our rules and policies before using your tools, and please add yourself to the sysop box. Thanks, Majorly (talk) 19:42, 13 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Warnings[edit]

An offering for our new administrator from your comrades... (our budget is smaller than Commons)

Zirland, congratulations! You now have the rights of administrator on Meta. Please take a moment to read the Meta:Administrators page and watchlist related pages (in particular Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat, and Meta:Requests_for_deletion, but also Talk:Spam_blacklist and Talk:Interwiki_map), before launching yourself into page deletions, page protections, account blockings, or modifications of protected pages. The majority of the actions of administrators can be reversed by the other admins, except for history merges which must thus be treated with particular care.

A tip: add this page Meta:Administrators' discussion index to your watchlist, it tracks the latest activity to various sections of many of the important pages.

Please feel free to join us on IRC: #wikimedia-admin @ irc.freenode.net. You may find Commons:Guide to adminship to be useful reading although it doesn't always completely apply here at Meta.

Please also check or add your entry to Meta:Administrators#List_of_administrators and the Template:List of administrators.

Stewards-l confirmation Zirland

--89.236.199.118 01:19, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Чтобы Вы знали, это - Мета-вики, а не Русская википедия. Zirland не админстратор ру.вики и не может Вас там разблокировать. --Maxim(talk) 22:37, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fundraising translation feedback[edit]

Hey Zirland,

I wanted to ask for your help. As you may be aware we have been running banners on many language wikis. We have a lot of new content this year and I really want to conduct a thorough review of our translations. This is a combination of feedback from the community, readers, donors as well as those with professional translator experience. This will help us ensure the highest quality of translations used in our messaging.

To help us out with this I wonder if you would be willing to give us feedback for Polish using This Link

Simply follow the simple instructions on that page and if you have any questions feel free to contact me on my talk page.

Many Thanks

Jseddon (WMF) (talk) 17:45, 26 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Help with Czech translations[edit]

Hi Zirland, I have emailed you but maybe I have more luck getting a hold of you here. I am contacting you as I would highly appreciate your help to translate and proofread three short texts from English to Czech for WMF's multilingual fundraising campaign that will be starting in two weeks. I kindly ask you to go onto the Fundraising Translation Hub https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Fundraising/Translation, and click on the three texts available for translation. All of these three texts need proofreading in Czech in order to be sure we have quality translations. Please check the review button as you work yourself through the texts. I would be most grateful if you would spread this message and ask fellow English/Czech Wikipedians to do the same. Please reach out to me by email, jrobell@wikipedia.org if you have any questions. A warm thank you in advance. Kind regards, Jrobell (talk) 13:22, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Updated scripts[edit]

Hi Zirland. I edited your monobook.js to update you to the latest version of StewardScript, which is compatible with the latest MediaWiki changes and resides on the Wikimedia Tool Labs for easier updates. Let me know if anything breaks. :) —Pathoschild 00:00, 22 March 2015 (UTC)

This is a message from the Wikimedia Foundation. Translations are available.

As you may know, the Wikimedia Foundation Board of Trustees approved a new "Access to nonpublic information policy" on 25 April 2014 after a community consultation. The former policy has remained in place until the new policy could be implemented. That implementation work is now being done, and we are beginning the transition to the new policy.

An important part of that transition is helping volunteers like you sign the required confidentiality agreement. All Wikimedia volunteers with access to nonpublic information are required to sign this new agreement, and we have prepared some documentation to help you do so.

The Wikimedia Foundation is requiring that OTRS volunteers sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain their access. You are receiving this email because you have been identified as an OTRS volunteer and are required to sign the confidentiality agreement under the new policy. If you do not sign the new confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015, you will lose your OTRS access. OTRS volunteers have a specific agreement available, if you have recently signed the general confidentiality agreement for another role (such as CheckUser or Oversight), you do not need to sign the general agreement again, but you will still need to sign the OTRS agreement.

Signing the confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information is conducted and tracked using Legalpad on Phabricator. We have prepared a guide on Meta-Wiki to help you create your Phabricator account and sign the new agreement: Confidentiality agreement for nonpublic information/How to sign

If you have any questions or experience any problems while signing the new agreement, please visit this talk page or email me (gvarnum(_AT_)wikimedia.org). Again, please sign this confidentiality agreement by 31 December 2015 to retain your OTRS access. If you do not wish to retain this access, please let me know and we will forward your request to the appropriate individuals.

Thank you,
Gregory Varnum (User:GVarnum-WMF), Wikimedia Foundation
