Vietnam Wikimedians Collective (VWMC) is a volunteer-driven community initiative dedicated to supporting the development of Vietnamese Wikimedia projects, promoting open knowledge, and fostering collaborative Wikimedia-related activities in Vietnam.

VWMC aims to connect contributors, educators, media creators, designers, technologists, and individuals interested in free knowledge in order to help build a more active, sustainable, and accessible Wikimedia ecosystem in Vietnam.

Activities

[edit]

Media development

[edit]

VWMC develops media content related to Vietnamese Wikimedia projects and open knowledge across popular social media platforms in Vietnam, including Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, Threads, Instagram, and X.

Operational model

[edit]

Due to legal and operational considerations, VWMC does not operate as a traditional membership-based user group. The organization consists solely of an Executive Board and does not maintain formal membership status.

Instead, VWMC operates through collaborative initiatives, volunteer participation, and contributor recognition mechanisms designed to support flexible and sustainable community engagement.

Principles and direction

[edit]

VWMC aims to develop a long-term, transparent, and risk-aware operational model suitable for year-round community activities.

The group places importance on collaboration, sustainability, accessibility, and responsible community coordination.

VWMC is independently operated by volunteers and is not a legal representative office of the Wikimedia Foundation.
