Preferred name Vanett Graneros
What languages do you speak, and at what fluency level? (Please include your English proficiency.) I am a native Spanish speaker. I have a basic knowledge of English, I can understand written texts and simple conversations, although I am not yet fluent. I am currently continuing to strengthen my English skills.
What region(s) of the world do you have experience with, and what kind of experience do you have? (“Experience” can mean you have lived or worked there or are currently living or working there; you’re familiar with the culture and language; etc.) South America, I live and work in Bolivia
What Wikimedia project(s) do you actively edit? And in what language(s)? Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons and Wikidata in Spanish
What affiliate(s) are you actively involved with? In what capacity are you involved? Do you serve in a leadership role or have you in the past? I am a volunteer of Wikimedistas de Bolivia. Since 2020 I have collaborated in the program "Leamos Wikipedia en el aula", providing logistical support and participating in training activities aimed at teachers.

Since September 2023 I am part of the Regional Funding Committee for Latin America and the Caribbean, where I participate in the review and decision-making processes for funding proposals.

Please describe any experience you have with working in Wikipedia/Library. In 2023 I led the pilot project "Papeles y Bites Libres", focused on the digitization, preservation and mediation of historical documents linked to Bolivian women. This project was presented at the GLAM Wiki 2023 conference in Uruguay.

I am currently planning the project "Publicaciones del Centenario de Bolivia: preservación y acceso libre", which seeks to make visible publications published in 1925 in commemoration of the centennial of Bolivia. This initiative represents the first step to articulate the work of libraries with Wikimedia projects in the country. Its implementation is planned for August 2025.

What is your view on the development of our affiliation? I believe that the Wikimedia and Libraries Users Group (WLUG) has grown significantly by making visible the strategic role that libraries have in the Wikimedia ecosystem. Through initiatives such as WikiLibCon, learning spaces and collaborative resources, the group has managed to connect librarians and Wikimedians from different regions, strengthening a global network focused on free knowledge, information literacy and the fight against misinformation.

However, I believe there are still opportunities to expand participation in underrepresented regions, especially in Latin America and other communities in the Global South. It is important to continue promoting multilingualism, generating contextualized training spaces and supporting local initiatives that articulate library work with Wikimedia projects. I am excited about the possibility of contributing to this development from a collaborative, equitable and action-oriented perspective.
