Abstract: More than a decade work of a FOSS Community empowering up Wikimedia VGLUG FOUNDATION is a Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) community that has spent the last decade empowering rural communities in India through the spread of FOSS technologies. By contributing to major open-source projects like Wikimedia, Firefox, Debian and etc, VGLUG has played a pivotal role in promoting digital literacy and fostering grassroots innovation. The foundation has also focused on training students from rural areas, equipping them with the skills needed to become active contributors to platforms like Wikimedia and its sister projects. Through these efforts, VGLUG has not only helped bridge the digital divide but also enabled individuals to overcome poverty by leveraging FOSS tools and resources.
