Abstract:

OpenRefine is a powerful tool designed for cleaning, transforming, and refining messy data. The focus of the workshop will be on how to work with wikitext and structured data on Wikimedia Commons using the OpenRefine and contribute to Wikimedia Commons. The session will cover the fundamentals of OpenRefine, including its user interface, basic functions, and advanced features like data reconciliation.

By the end of the workshop, participants will learn the OpenRefine tool and its applications for working with wikitext and structured data on Wikimedia Commons. They will be able to perform basic data cleaning, transformation, reconciliation tasks and learn on improving the wikitext and structured data in Wikimedia Commons.
