The Annual General Meeting 2022 or the third Annual General Meeting of the West Bengal Wikimedians User Group (WBG) has been convened as per Article 23 of the Bylaws of the user group.

Minutes

  • The 3rd Annual General Meeting of the West Bengal Wikimedians User Group (WBG) started with welcome message from Jayantanth as Representative Committee (RC) member and Founder member (FM) of the group.
  • Quorum was established as per Article 28 of the Bylaws of WBG as more than 50% of the RC and more than 50 % of the Representative Members (RM) were present in the meeting.
  • Titodutta explained Wikimedia Friendly Space Policies to all the participants and requested them to adhere to that.
  • Titoduuta explained photo policy and recording policy of the meeting.
  • Bodhisattwa placed the agenda of the meeting.
  • Bodhisattwa updated the total and per project financial expenditure of the user group including the remaining amount of money.
  • Atudu upadated about the financial status of the project grant for Phase V of Wiki Loves Butterfly.
  • Atudu updated about the activity of the Phase V of Wiki Loves Butterfly during the first half of the grants period including the procurement of photographic equipment for the project under grants money.
  • Bodhisattwa updated about the rest of the user group activities which has happened throughout the year.
  • Bodhisattwa introduced the members about an idea level discussion with Wikimedia Bangladesh to collaborate on the formation of a linguistic network, if possible, to be transitioned to be a linguistic hub revolving around Bengali language, culture and heritage. The members unanimously supported the idea of the collaboration.
  • As the project lead of Wiki Exploration program, Amitabha Gupta was asked to join the meeting briefly to present about the activity and financial status of the program which he presented through his slides.
  • Jayantanth talked about the new Alliance Fund of the Wikimedia Foundation to the members and showed a grant proposal from an external company operating in the state West Bengal which has asked for around INR 750,000 to bring 10,000 new readers in the state. The members, after long discussions, decided to give a strong statement of concern from the perspective of the affiliate operating in the region. The statement was drafted together and placed on the proposal talk page.
  • Article 10 of the Bylaws of WBG was explained to let participants understand or recall about the Representative membership. No general members were found eligible to become representative member this year under this article.
  • Article 24a of the Bylaws of WBG was explained to let participants understand or recall about the Representative Committee membership.
  • Article 24b of the Bylaws of WBG was explained to let participants understand or recall about the The term and replacement of Representative Committee membership.
  • It was informed to the participants that Atudu, Indrajitdas, খাঁ শুভেন্দু and Pinakpani were eligible to become a Representative Committee (RC) member in this year under Article 24a of the Bylaws. As consensus was not reached on selecting new RC member, open voting was conducted from Representative memebers. Atudu got the majority of votes and thus became the new RC member.
  • It was informed to the participants that as per article 24b, one candidate from Titodutta, Jayantanth, Bodhisattwa and Hrishikes were to be removed from RC to give space to Atudu as a new member in the committee.
  • Titodutta placed a strong argument about his purpose to remove himself from the committee which was agreed by the Representative members by absolute majority and thus Titodutta removed himself from the committee this year.
