Wiki25 Activities in Tajikistan

As part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of Wikipedia, the Tajik Wikimedians community organized several activities aimed at expanding free knowledge and strengthening collaboration among contributors.
From 15 to 25 January, an edit-a-thon was held focusing on a range of contemporary topics, including artificial intelligence and modern technologies, digital and media literacy, science and education, society, culture and ethics, as well as the role of the internet, algorithms, and digital platforms in today’s information environment. The campaign brought together nine participants, who collectively created and improved more than 100 articles during the editing period.
In addition, on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Tajik Wikipedia and the 25th anniversary of Wikipedia, a training session for Wikipedia editors was organized at the Main Directorate of the Tajik Encyclopedia. The training introduced participants to the latest approaches and best practices in Wikipedia editing, highlighting effective collaboration methods, editorial standards, and practical tools that support the development of high-quality content.
The Tajik Wikimedians community also collaborated with Uzbek Wikimedians to organize a joint thematic editing campaign titled “Wikipedia Loves the Olympic Games.” The campaign ran from 26 January to 26 February and resulted in the creation and improvement of more than 300 articles across two languages. This collaborative initiative not only expanded sports-related content on Wikipedia but also strengthened cross-community cooperation between Tajik and Uzbek contributors.
Together, these activities highlighted the growing engagement of the Tajik Wikimedia community in promoting free knowledge, encouraging new contributors, and building partnerships with academic and regional communities.
