The Wiki In Africa In-Focus segments follow the main conversations each month, and feature Wikimedians across Africa and beyond in various ways, either as interviews of female Wikimedians (Inspiring Open) or documenting experiences of Wikimedians at various international events (Echoes From) or providing a deep dive or insight into a specific tool or project. It is intentionally flexible in order to capture the experiences of Wikimedians, where ever they are and what ever they are up to. Tochi is a Language Activist, Multilingual Project Manager, and the Co-founder & Executive Director of Igbo Wikimedia User Group. She also serves as a Wikimedian in Residence at Wikitongues, a member of the Wikimedia Language Committee, and a Board Member at Wiki in Africa and African & Proud.
She holds a Master’s degree in Project Management, an honorary Doctorate in Leadership and Business Administration, and is a Distinguished Fellow of the Institute of Leadership, Manpower and Management Development. She is currently pursuing her second Master’s degree in Linguistics.
In this inspiring interview, Tochi opens up about her journey in the open movement, the challenges and possibilities in language activism, and what “openness” truly means to her. She shares heartfelt advice about empathy, leadership, gender, and the future of open knowledge.

[edit]Morning Briefings @ Wikimania 2025 are 30-minute livestreamed sessions took place each morning from the 6th to the 9th of August, from 09:00 to 09:30 Nairobi time (6 am UTC). The Morning Briefings aimed to connect the onsite and online audiences through a dynamic and engaging format. Each day featured live interviews with Wikimania organizers, program speakers, and other special guests. The conversations highlighted the key events, themes, and sessions of the day, while also sharing insights from the previous day’s activities.

[edit]Inspiring Open interview with Victoria Doronina who started contributing to Russian Wikipedia in 2006, became an admin, and twice served on the Arbitration Committee. In 2021, she was elected to the WMF Board of Trustees and re-elected in 2024. in this Inspiring Open interview, Victoria is talking about her experience in joining the open wikimedia movement and the challenges that faced her as a women. She also advise women not to fear and to try by themselves!
Victoria was one of the guest speakers of the 44th episode which hosts some inspiring women across the wikimedia movement to converse about how the movement supports women.

[edit]In the 43rd episode of WAH the In Focus was incorporating the Wiki Loves Women’s Inspiring Open project by focusing on an open woman; Sandra Soster to share her experience in open spaces especially GLAM projects in Wikimedia.
Sandra Soster is the GLAM and Culture Manager of Wiki Movimento Brasil since 2022. She holds a PhD degree of Architecture and Urbanism by University of São Paulo (USP). Her thesis "Management of the Brazilian Cultural Heritage: Citizen participation in policies, processes and technologies" analyzes digital platforms for citizen collaboration in the cultural heritage area. She is a member of Icomos-Brazil and of iPatrimonio project (www.ipatrimonio.org), an independent initiative on gathering information about cultural heritage in Brazil.
Sandra was one of the guests of the main conversation of the 43 episode, in which she shared her experience in decolonising knowledge in collaboration with Wikimedia Brazil

She is an experienced educator with a mission for transforming lives through equity in education. With nearly 20 years of teaching and leadership experience across 9 countries, she works to create transformative learning experiences that equip learners to thrive in our ever-changing 21st-century landscape.
Nichole facilitated the 42nd episode about offline wikis in which guests, who have had experience working on offline projects and initiatives, discuss their methods, digital divide, ways of housing and distributing static content, and what support is offered.
