Description : This panel opens with a brief introduction to the EduWiki Hub and its role in supporting Wikimedia in education globally through services such as workshops, knowledge showcases, and peer learning spaces. Building on this context, the session will highlight the work of selected Wikimedia affiliates in the MENA region that are actively implementing education programs. Panelists will share how their initiatives align with and extend similar approaches, including engaging educators and students, organizing training activities, and contributing to knowledge-sharing within their communities. The discussion will focus on four affiliates with notable experience in this area, offering insights into their program design, challenges, and lessons learned in integrating Wikimedia into educational contexts. By connecting the EduWiki Hub’s support structures with the lived experiences of regional communities, the panel creates a space for shared learning and reflection. Participants will gain practical insights into how Wikimedia education programs are developed and sustained in the MENA region, as well as how collaboration between global initiatives and local affiliates can be strengthened. Intended outcomes : After this session, Participants will gain insight into different approaches to engaging educators and students, building partnerships, and addressing local challenges in Wikimedia in education. They will also identify opportunities for collaboration between affiliates and global initiatives, and reflect on how shared learning across the MENA region can strengthen Wikimedia education efforts. Finally, participants will be able to draw inspiration from real-world examples and consider how similar approaches can be adapted to their own communities. This conversation should also enable participants to better understand the work of the EduWiki Hub and how they can benefit from our services.
