Background[edit]

Creating citations is a pain -- the visual editor has a way to assist with creating citations using a DOI or URL: can we use ISBNs or OCNs (OCLC Control Numbers -- not all books that are published have an ISBN!) to take the pain out of creating citations using the OCLC APIs.

Questions[edit]

  • Is there a WorldCat service to check whether an ISBN/OCN exists in WorldCat?
  • Does it show Google Books links for those present in Google Books? If not, that's an excellent source that should not be missed
