Abstract (in about 300 words)
I would like to introduce the audience to making illustrations using Inkscape. This is a good substitute for line diagrams and basic illustrations and does not require great artistic skills. I will be covering the basics of Inkscape illustration and providing some tips for anyone to produce block diagrams, line diagrams and simple textual emblems or designs. This will be a hands-on workshop and participants will need to come with their laptops, Inkscape (free and open source) installed and an external mouse (essential). Some example SVGs made by the presenter can be seen here.
