Abstract (in about 300 words)
  • Duration = around 20 minutes

Before WikiConference India 2016, a month-long (1 to 31 July 2016) multi-lingual edit-a-thon was planned with an aim to improve (create or expand) Punjab-related content on Indian Wikipedias. As of 20 July 2016, 11 Indian Wikipedia communities participated in the event and more than 600 articles were created or expanded. According to the organizers of the edit-a-thon, this edit-a-thon was a gift to Punjab, India, the hosting state of Wikiconference India.

However this is not the first one, but the ongoing edit-a-thon is undoubtedly one of the most important multilingual edit-a-thon conducted in India This paper attempts to present

  1. brief information of the other edit-a-thons conducted in India so far
