Ideas portal for WikiConference India 2023

Welcome! Thank you for landing on this page. This page will serve as a portal to communicate ideas and inputs from all community members for the pre-conference event, conference program, and ideas in general for the WikiConference India 2023. We are super excited to hear from you! Please add your ideas/inputs under the relevant sections below.

Ideas/Inputs for Pre-Conference Event

• Wiki Quiz - This could be based on the Topics of either the city of Hyderabad (being the host for the conference), state of Telangana, or any such relevant topic which could be easily connected to the WCI2023. Whichever topic for the quiz we may select the questions (and thus the answers) must be from en.wiki being it a common language and broader coverage or topics.

• PhotoWalk - Would have not proposed this as it is a standard fixture in almost all events and not many are interested in taking picutres, but proposing here in lack of other ideas.--Dhaval^Talk 15:56, 24 January 2023 (UTC)
• Article requests page - I suggest the organizers to create a separate "Article requests page" where Wikipedians from other languages can ask for inclusion of a notable persons article in other language Wikipedias. For example, I would love to see a page on 26-year-old Mohamed Yunus, co-founder of an e-commerce company, PROPO who helped save hundreds of people on the flooded streets of Chennai during the 2015 floods. He is also the recipient of Anna Medal for Gallantry award in 2016. An article on him is available on Hindi & Urdu Wikipedias. References: 1, 2 & 3. --Muzammil (talk) 05:58, 27 January 2023 (UTC)
• A separate editathon based either on Telangana or exclusively on Hyderabad can be thought of similar to the Punjab Edit-a-thon during the previous WikiConference India. --Muzammil (talk) 06:04, 27 January 2023 (UTC)

Ideas/Inputs for Conference Program

• Sprint Editathon (30 min to an hour max)
• Mini-Hackathon (1-2 hours) if not for fixing the issues, at least to gather ideas
• Workshop on how to write Scholarship application (too late as such for Wikimania and of course WCI, however it could help wikimedians to effectively write their future application). (30 min)
