Welcome! We are super excited you’re considering submitting a session for WikiConference India 2023! The call for session submissions will open from 11 November 2022, until 14 December 2022.

About Sessions[edit]

The main idea of sessions at WikiConference India 2023 is to share our community work and exchange thoughts & experiences with fellow Wikimedia communities from the South Asian region. Through sessions, we aim to create cross-community interaction and build inter-community collaboration for the development of the communities and the movement as a whole. If you want to bring your community work to the spotlight or present your learning/experiences to other communities, then you are on the right page. Please go through the below sections to understand and submit your session proposal for WikiConference India 2023.

Timeline[edit]

  • Start date for session submissions: 11 November 2022, 00:00 IST
  • Last date to submit a session proposal: 14 December 2022, 23:59 IST
  • The list of selected session proposals will be displayed on the Meta page. We will also be sending the list of selected session proposals through the mailing list and email(if provided in the form)

Session formats[edit]

The sessions at the conference will be organized in several formats for better interactivity and an inclusive experience. We have five types of session formats and you can choose any session format depending on your interest. Below are the types of session formats.

  • Lightning talk (5 mins)
  • Lecture (15 mins)
  • Panel discussions (45 mins)
  • Town hall meeting (1 hour)
  • Workshop (1 hour)

Details required[edit]

If you are interested to submit a session at WikiConference India 2023, you will be required to fill out a comprehensive form that will help the team review your session proposal. Following are the details requested in the form.

  • Title and abstract describing your session
  • Username(s) of the session speaker(s)
  • Community you belong to (or) Affiliation
  • Session type and outcomes
  • Other logistical details(recording, support required)

Submit your session proposal[edit]

We got your back! Here is a simple three-step process to submit your session proposal

  • Step 1: Insert the title of your proposal in the text entry box below.
  • Step 2: Click on the "Start my proposal" button to create a new application form.
  • Step 3: Fill in the application form and save the page to submit your proposal.

Note: If your session submission has been accepted, you can opt to:

  • Release your proposal's abstract and slides associated with it under the Creative Commons Attribution Share-Alike Licence 4.0; and/or
  • Release your session recording or any other media related to your session will be made available under the above-mentioned license if you have opted for session recording during the proposal submission.
