WikiConference India 2026/fr
4 to 6 September 2026 · Kochi, Kerala Reimagining the Knowledge Commons Community Leadership in an Evolving Wikimedia Ecosystem
WikiConference India 2026 is the fourth edition of the national conference that brings together Wikimedians and stakeholders working on Indic-language Wikimedia projects and the wider movement across India and parts of South Asia. It is hosted by International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad with the Wikimedians of Kerala User Group.
As technology and social landscapes shift quickly around us, the theme asks the community to look past the boundaries of a digital encyclopedia and treat the movement as a living ecosystem, one that has to stay resilient, inclusive and forward-looking.
Our objectives
Community leadership in the age of AI In a time of declining trust in online information and a rapid rise in machine-generated content, community-led and human-created knowledge matters more than it ever has.
Regional languages and local knowledge Reimagining the commons is not only about tools and platforms. It is about making sure regional languages, local knowledge systems and underrepresented histories sit at the centre of the global movement.
New models of participation We want to think past traditional editing and try out forms of participation and knowledge creation that reflect how varied India and South Asia actually are.
Bridging knowledge gaps Moving beyond text to carry oral traditions, diverse media and collaborative cultural documentation into the commons.
